Karly Weathers has committed to Alabama Crimson Tide

I think you are probably right, especially since she's not a White hire. I would say this year and maybe next will be very important too her going forward. -
Karly Weathers has committed to Alabama Crimson Tide

She averaged 22.4 points a game and 4.3 came from the foul line. Karly put up very good assists per game and rebounds for a guard. What was really good about her game was her basketball I Q . She didn't live on the line and Harper still messed up. -

I agree, I'm not sure what direction the Lady Vols are heading in. I've been a big UT Vol fan for years and it's sad to see a player of Karly's caliber not dressed in orange, and she's born an raised in Tennessee. Harper just missed the boat on this Tennessee girl. Congrats to Bama for seeing what kind of player Karly is and will be for them moving forward. Really disappointed in Harper on this one. -
Congrats to Karly ! We are so proud of you. You deserve it with all the hard word and dedication you put into the game. Kelly Jolley Harper made a major mistake by not getting you.

Who is top 5 coaches in girls basketball in all classes
gogold replied to Bob38's topic in Girls Basketball
Rick Insell would be at the top of my list ! Built a basketball war machine and it hasn't been the same since he left. -
Loretto Lady Mustangs, State Champs in Class A basketball ! I'm so proud of the fine young ladies and coaches. They deserve everything they got. It was a total team victory. This is the team we've been waiting to see this year. It took us a little longer than we thought, but they starting coming together a couple of weeks ago. When Buttrum, Tidwell, Clifton started to play offensively and defensively like they were always capable of playing, we knew we were a different team. We knew what we had with Karly and Kensey Weathers. It started with the McKenzie game and ended yesterday with a Gold Ball. Congrats to a great season Lady Mustangs. We are so proud of you !

Congrats to our Lady Mustangs on getting the Gold Ball ! Congrats to Summertown on their great season. This has been a tough year that started on top of an unfinished last season. The team never took the easy route and played the toughest schedule in the state class A of any team that played more than 15 games. We had 8 games with state championship teams or teams that finished 2nd in their state. That's not counting Upperman which may have been the best we played. This schedule prepared us for the week we would have. We did not get the number of games we wanted and needed because of covid and a district tournament we were not allowed to compete in. These young ladies and their coaches were determined not to let anything get in their way and that included a great Summertown team. It's been a long time coming, but the State Champs Are The Loretto Lady Mustangs !

Congrats to Summertown last night. It was a hard fought game that had a chance to go either way. Both of these teams are playing very good ball. The big game is Saturday against Houston County at their place. We are getting use to being road dogs. Should be a good game and a great atmosphere ! Good luck to the last 16 standing.

McKenzie was the real deal. Loretto is playing some of their best ball right now. We hope the injury to Kensey Weathers knee is not too bad. McKenzie took alot out of our team and know we have to turn around and play a top notch Summertown at their house. It'll be a tough turn around, but I'm sure our Loretto team will give it their best shot. I do think we are gelling as a team and getting more production from our role players on offense and defense. It should be a good one. There could be another get together at the Boro.
-
Hey, McKenzie has a really good team. Loretto came over to play and they respected McKenzie and their team. They were deserving of their ranking and will have a team that will be tough in A class next season. Congrats on your very good year.

I'm just reading what your writing. Loretto had 3 all district players on its team and Karly was one of them. If you'd said without Hart that Gibson would not be a good team, I'd said that was a dumb statement too. That quote being read by anyone would take it just the way you stated it. Need to learn how to craft your sentences before posting them. The statement you were referring to was made by a Summertown fan, you were quoting from that and had nothing to do with Loretto. That was all you !
-
How did you come up with that Loretto would not be good without Weathers ? I thought you knew a little bit about basketball. There's no doubt Karly is a game changer, but to discount the rest of the team is just dumb. Our team has heart and you've got to have heart. They also have talent too. Just a dumb statement.
-
You have to tip your hat to Summertown. They have a group of seniors and surrounding cast that are tough and play a hard brand of defense. They shoot the 3 ball well too. They will be a tough out in tournament play. I expect to see them in the state as one of the favorites. Loretto has got match their physical play and shoot the ball better. It should be a good one in the Barn in a few weeks. These are the games that get you ready for tournament play. I believe both of these teams will make it to state.

I think Clarkrange is one of the best, but I would want to know how many times have you watched Summertown and Loretto play this year? These 2 teams have a very good chance of winning it all and they're in the same district.
-
Loretto lost some very good players from last years team, but based on what I'm seeing, I think we may be a better team this year. We had a tough start with covid and no practices and then face Lebanon and Upperman at the Lebanon tournament to start the season. We hung with both, but no practices and legs going in the second half due to 2 weeks of doing nothing we learned a few things about this team. These 2 teams will be among the best in the whole state when all is said and done. We got good wins against a 1 loss Lawrence County team, beat Deshler, AL a top 4 A team, and last night beat 14-0 Belmont, Mississippi team ranked 3 in their state. I think our starting 5 will open some eyes and we have 3 off the bench that contribute when called on. This is a fun team to watch.
-
I think you start with Clarkrange and Summertown, but I think Loretto and Gibson County are not far behind. Summertown brings back 4 solid senior starters and this team reminds me of Gibson County State Championship team in 2019. Clarkrange brings back a solid team with a couple of big time players and they have played in big games. Loretto lost some key personnel, but have some really good players to fill out those loses and Karly as a junior will raise her game and leadership skills for this team. Gibson brings back a loaded team that's battle tested. Those are my top 4 as of now.

At best it was a backhanded compliment. You seemed to have already crowned your team and that is your right. I know what happened last year and writing off teams before the games are played is a grave mistake. I would suppose your fans would have learned that from last years results. The last 4 teams left were there for a reason. We can all claim our teams would have won, but that does not make it so. I will say Greenfield would have been picked to win it, but they were last year too.
-
There were no guarantees for any team, but Loretto had some revenge factor going for them against GC that would have been extra motivation. I do think Loretto was the better team this year and Weathers was fine. She got a little sick during the game, but was ready to roll after the Oneida game. She would have been ready and was playing some unbelievable ball as well as the others starters and reserves. I just liked Loretto's chances, but still no guarantees for them or any of the 4 teams left.
-
I do understand your disappointment, but as good as Greenfield was, Clarkrange was better than last year. I feel like Loretto would have beaten a good Gibson Co team on their side of the bracket. I feel like Loretto had one of the better single A teams is a while too. Loretto had been playing great ball going into the last part of the season. I can promise you Loretto would have not rolled over and they matched up great with Greenfield. We were just as disappointed, but we felt we could have won it all this year. We will never know and anyone that claims the title does not either.
-
With all that's going on, do you think we'll play basketball this fall. Do we just play with teams and coaches, but no fans ? I did not think this a few weeks ago, but the way this is playing out I'm wondering. This time in our days is hard to believe and even imagine.
-
I do believe the Class A teams of this past season, as a whole, may have been the best this state has ever had at one time. The final four on Class A would have been the top teams of any classification. I would like to have seen what this group of teams could have done on the national stage. This state would have been well represented.
-
This is painful to start since no closure for this season, but got to throw some teams out there, so I'll say Gibson County, Summertown, Loretto, Clarkrange will be some of the favorites of this up and coming season. I sure hope we get to play it and finish it out this time.
