  1. I think this year's team is more of a "team". Last year there were some attitudes and a lot of individuals. I'm not necessarily "in the know", but this is what I've heard and observed.
  2. I heard Joe Gaddis (used to coach at Oak ridge and Tullahoma, now somewhere in MIssissippi) has the job but it hasn't been made public.
  3. I have heard that Joe Gaddis (former coach of Oak Ridge) is applying for the job. I've also heard that he is going to apply for Clinton and Heritage though. Wherever he goes, he'll bring a lot of excitement to the program. He coaches somewhere in Alabama or Mississippi right now. I don't see how they could turn him down. They would be very fortunate to get Gaddis. The Householder guy at Seymour would be the obvious second choice I think.
  4. 91StateChamp and CentralBobcat - This is an OR vs. DB thread. Find another thread for your arguing. The 91 Oakridge team was great. In fact, as I have said before, they would have won the mythical national championship if their quarterback hadn't blown a perfectly called option play on the goalline. If I remember right, they went for two, and the tailback could have literally walked in the endzone. Their tailback was great, and the play was obviously called to get him the football on the corner. For some reason, the OR qb kept it and ruind a prefect season by OR. Central Bobcat - you guys need to wina ring before you talk so much. I'm gonna have to go with the Indians this week. DB wins and puts OR out once again.
  5. Any truth to the rumor of the Farragut job coming open in Knoxville? If so, who is rumored to get it?
  6. I was wondering where in Williamson County Independence will be. Which schools will it take players from? What classification will they be? Who is rumored to get the job? Should they be a good team? What colors will they be (I'm guessing red, white and blue, but that isn't always the case as with Independence Charlotte)? What will their mascot be?
  7. Sensation - i would agree with you about all those teams except for the 91 Oakridge team. Their tailback (#40 - can't remember his name may have been the best high school football player I've ever seen). Even though they were good, they were very weak in two areas: one you mentioned - quarterback. In my opinion, they won in spite of him. He had two great receivers (don't remember their names who made him look good in spite of numerous bad throws). Their defense wasn't great either. #40 was a man though. Of all the teams I've seen, the Riverdale teams of the mid nineties had unbelievable athletes. Their defense was unreal. Also, Dickson County lined up in the power I and ran it down peoples' throats. Nobody could stop them when they won it even though most people in the stadium knew they were going to run the ball. The Maryville teams of late must be good. I haven't seen them play much, but they never hardly lose. I saw the Brentwood/Clarksville game in 95 or 96. If it weren't for that game, I would nominate Brentwood. Also, Oakland had some good teams in the late 80s.
  8. Make sure you're on here Monday. We'll talk about it then.
  9. One or two players don't make a "team" of athletes. Jefferson County is always big and slow.
  10. Oak Ridge won a NC, but it was in '58. I've heard of the Baylor team. When Oak Ridge had the Coach named Emory something, I think they had a team in the late seventies or early eighties that was ranked high nationally. Thank you for your responses. I know there is no way to tell who the best would be, but it sure is fun to think about/argue/discuss/talk about.
  11. If that's the case, you guys can beat anybody. I always felt like McMinn's D was what kept them from taking the next step. They've had good teams, but they've never been able to get over the hump. In my opinion, it was always the defense. It seemed like you guys always won games 40 something to 30 something. If your D is as good as the stats say and as good as you think, then you guys can win. I'd love to see you beat DB. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to that 3rd round matchup.
  12. As a fan of east tennessee football (don't worry, my team has been out of the game for awhile), I don't think Jefferson County has the athletes to beat Oak Ridge. It should be close, but I think Oak Ridge wins that one. I think McMinn County has a chance against DB. McMinn has a good team this year. They've always had great offenses, capable of scoring points, but their defenses have been lacking. I haven't seen them play this year, so I don't know if that is still the case. Anybody who loses to Karns can lose to anybody. I don't think this is one of DB's best teams. Don't get me wrong, DB must be good, but it isn't one of their best. After saying that, I still think DB wins. They are very tough to beat at home. Of course, this is just one fan's opinion.
  13. You're absolutely right. Sorry I left them out. I never saw them play, from what I heard, they were so good they just lined up and bludgeoned people, and nobody could stop them.
