  1. We need get carried away. Competition in District should be tougher this year and needs to be. Kenwood OL will be a great challenge for Pats D this week. Knights rushed for 440 yards last week. They have a power back and a outside speed back. Not sure about their defense but this game has usually been battle each year. Looking for a lot of hard hitting in this game from both sides. GO PATS !!
  2. Maybe they should have called them Boston Patriot Butts!! The Kenwood game has the makings of a good game. HCHS has had some real battles with them in their short history playing each other.
  3. Some of the fans maybe. I don't think players and for sure the Coaches are not. Film from this year and last will show the speed of Humboldt. Both teams have some pep-their-step. Go Pats !
  4. There are quite a few folks I have talked with that think this HCHS team may have the most team speed they have seen. May be. Should be an interesting game. Looking forward to first home game.
  5. Maybe they don't know how to turn it off
  6. Nothing like a clear running stream before the game!!!!
  7. Turn overs are killers hard to keep the defense off the field when you put it on the ground. Not the way you want to start season but it is about what you do to adjust and get to where you want to be. Good coaches and kids that want to win Pats will be fine. Hung 28 on a team that probably will finish the remaining 9 games at giving up 10 points a game on defense or less. Offense has potential to put alot on the board but D got to be there too. I have heard Liberty called a small school. Smaller school may be more accurate. HCHS only 150-175 more students. LTMS already over the number for Class 3 but not enough for subclass 5 and I would not doubt they could be very close to Sub Class 5AAA by reclassification time. But knowing how Jackson School system functions who knows? Hope they keep each other on schedule in the future. Great challenge for both schools. On to Game 2 Win 1. GO PATS !
  8. At 5:00 in the morning. KO will still be in mid 80's. But getting closer to great football weather. There will be a cramp or two setting in but that would be normal. Pats have to not turn the ball over and tackle against Humboldt.
  9. When Daddy grew tobacco I was to young to work the barns. My older brothers did that. I was stuck in the field. I remember guys would stay at Murray St instead of going back North in Summers because thay made more $ in the fields than the factories. They also would get free lunches from the farmer. One of my favorite memories was passing by a field between Dover and Clarksville one Summer and 4 young women worked the field which was right next to highway. The first time I came upon them they were in their cutoffs and halter tops nearly ran off the road. Don't know if it was from looking or my wife hitting me telling me to keep my eyes on the road. Second time passing by my wife asked me if I saw the one was wearing overalls cut off with no top under the overalls!! nearly ran off the road again!!! It was almost worth the drive to Clarksville every weekend.
  10. Pats will bring a good crowd down to Jackson. Should be a good game. Pats lost a lot of Seniors from last years team. I expect to see a lot of young players on the field. Actually with the heat I would think both teams will play a lot of players. Pats overall speed may be as fast as last year or faster. Should be a fun game to watch with the speed on the field. Liberty I know wants to win this game and get some revenge on the Pats. Is Liberty returning most of their lineman? Can't wait for the season to start. GO PATS !
  11. Coached moved Calvin to WR. They felt he could have a greater impact on team. He also will line up some in backfield. I read they feel they are deep enough at QB to move Calvin. Tennessean has story on new starting QB today. THere is a very good online interview with Marsalis and there was a story in Tennessean and Vols paper. Ready for HS and College to begin!!! Makes it feel like Fall is in the air when the Kickoff starts. GO PATS
  12. Heard it was a 2 game suspension and he would be back.
  13. ? It is going to be a big one. Just have to wait and see how things unfold this Summer.
  14. Henry County will be the "big dowg", "BIG DAWG" or "Big Dog"! However you want to spell it. This is HC's district to lose. I believe we have only lost one district game ( A fluke to Clarksville) since we went back to 10 AAA. Reading on here there is alot of talk about Springfield, but the team I saw in the playoffs last year better get A WHOLE BUNCH better to compete with the Big Red. It is early, but I will take a stab at the top four. 1. HC 2. Clarksville 3. Springfield 4. Dickson County Well, the Patriots graduated several seniors and will have to replace many key positions. I do look for the Patriots to be on top of this district and will make noise in the playoffs. The new coaches are now intact and working hard. I look for 8-2 at the worst and if the new faces gel with the new coaches then 10-0 is not out of the question. Big question is who will be the QB? That has become a huge question!

It is early, but I will take a stab at the top four. 1. HC 2. Clarksville 3. Springfield 4. Dickson County I have heard DC could be better than their 7-5 (5-3) record from last year. NW was number 2 in Dist last year but not sure what they have returning. CHS was down last year but they usually find a way to reload in a year or 2. I was thinking last year DC/HC game was tight early on and HC opened lead in second half. Barrel game could be a good one this year.
  16. I would say the 3-4 inches of rain on Barton Field (does not drain like Patriot Stadium) had something to do with it. I think we were still under Severe Storm watches at game time. Pats will have to wait till Summer to suit up again. Hit the weight room for now. GO PATS.........3 months till season starts.
  17. I agree, A good Coach surrounds theirselves with good assistants. Gaddis started with some, brought some in and it could be said that he helped developed some of the young ones. I see no reason to think Counce will do anything different to be successful. prophet, not seen you throwing stones. Is your arm still good enough to even hit anybody?
  18. Lake Co has been a revolving door as of late. 3 in 3. Not sure even Adolf could keep a HC job. Hated to see Hodge exit but it is done. We will find out if Snow can get the job done. Last question? Not sure, maybe $.
  19. How did the District shakeout after CHS went thru everyone? Who play who in Tourney?
  20. Coach Thompson will not have any problem making the transition. It will be fine. Pats have a new HC and changes are to be expected. Coach Thompson strikes me as being the kind of guy who would do what he needs to do for HCHS Football.
  21. Reggie Thompson played for Counce at HCHS and I'm sure they have a great working relationship. I can't think of any reason Counce would put Reggie in any position that he couldn't succeed. Maybe he wanted to make a change in job description and now was a great time to do that?? 10 years maybe he was ready. I am not very smart but I would think that at the HS level a DL coach for that many years would have little trouble making the transition to OL.
  22. Coach has been on the job at HCHS for a few days. I would think they can work this out. If you are saying that the resolution of the confusion should have taken place after practice I guess that might be different but people handle things differently.
  23. Confusion at this point is to be expected. Same thing happened when Coach Gaddis started his first year at HCHS. They will work it out. I agee they will experience success.
  24. From what I have heard from about half dozen parents are they really like and respect them (players too). Gaddis is tough to replace but was replaced with a very good Head Coach. Ryan, hated to see the young man go but I assume Chuck is replacing him as a line coach and should do very well at it, been around for awhile as a Coach. Ryan may have related a little more to players due to he is only a few years older than the are. The other position? I guess my other comment on this would be don't write the men off before the first game! They have a lot of experience and knowledge. Give them an oppourtunity and as you said in your post "if you got something negative to say move on". At this point it can go both ways.
