    CPA / FRA

An idiotic post. FRA played well, and they have never, ever held the ball like that. CPA tried to pull FRA out of the zone, but FRA stayed and went into the 4th down one. FRA had two leads inside of three minutes, but Sikes hit two bombs. CPA had the best player on the floor and he made the plays. FRA never tried to hold the ball, and nothing CPA did was "hilarious." It was good strategy by both teams, and CPA pulled it out. Good game.
  2. Just for perspective, the guy that started this post apparently goes to games in a cape and a hard hat.
  3. If that is true, the heights listed on the Tennessean website are way off. It doesn't show a starter over 6'2.
  4. Should be a great game tonight. These teams know each other very well. CPA has already won three head-to-head games this year, and they have to be the favorite. Last week, I was on here giving them a great chance to win it all. I stick with that, but you can never lok past FRA. It hurts me to say it, but CPA should win tonight. This is a big rivalry, so you never know. FRA can win as easily as they can lose. On a related note, somebody give me some info about Wayne County and Summertown.
  5. I think you hit on a good point there. GP did nto want to play FRA. I don't know that for a fact, but I strongly suspect it to be true. FRA has a style that can cause trouble for teams. Having said that, CPA gives FRA trouble, and I think FRA would have to play their best game of the year to win. Regardless, they are going to substate.
  6. That may be the so called "ranking" but it may not be true.
  7. This thread is a softball after tonight. Anyway, I said all along that FRA had a tough year, but they were not a team you wanted to see on elimination night. They are well coached and, like it or not, their style gives teams trouble.
  8. I would hold off on awarding the trophy after this game. Both are good teams, and have a chance to do well, but neither is so far dominant to assume the winner will will win the state or even make it for that matter.
  9. I have no dog in this hunt, but everybody's a tough guy on the internet.
  10. AGreed. On another note, I will be awfully surprised if this region doesnt put two teams in the state tourney.
  11. The officiating in the FRA game got awful bad in the last quarter as well, so no surprise if your report is correct.
  12. FRA 52-46. It was a 10 point game most of the way. The last quarter took forever. McEwen fouled the entire quarter and shot a ton of 3's. They cut it to 4 once, but stayed 6-8 points down most of the fourth. FRA was 24-34 from the line. As usual for FRA, it was a tough game. That's all they seem to play.
  13. Not on you at all, just a comment to point out how unpredicatable all of this can be.
  14. GP and CPA are virtual locks for the semi-finals in their respective brackets. NCS could have a tough time with Ezell, but you have to pick NCS. Ezell is better than most people think. Their size could cause NCS trouble. I was at the NCS/McEwen game and NCS is not the same team I saw earlier this year. Their shooting ability, however, makes them extremely dangerous in any game. I'll take NCS, but closer than people think. FRA/McEwen is interesting. FRA is better, plain and simple. They don't have a Puckett type player, but they have more overall talent. FRA should win, but you never know which FRA team will show. The CPA/NCS semi will be a war. Either team could win, but I'm going to stay on the CPA bandwagon. FRA has already beaten GP once, and lost by one the other time. In a mild upset, I like FRA to meet CPA in the finals. Of course, 10A will probably sweep again, and I've wasted 5 minutes of my life typing this. Should be a great tournament.
  15. GP is a good team and has an excellent chance of beating CPA and going a long way. I think their weakness is shooting the basketball. I suspect most teams collapse on Daniel, and they have to make the shots from the outside. I justthink CPA's defense is what makes them more likely to win. I'm not sure what any team can do about it other than limit turnovers and get some easy buckets.
  16. I watched them both play last night. Take CPA. GP has some good players, but I would not expect them to beat CPA assuming, of course, CPA plays like they did last night and the refs let them play aggresively.
  17. If there is a better class A team than CPA, I would like to see it. Size, athletcism, stifling defense, shooters, and hustle. They play in the toughest District, and they almost ran the table. They are strong.
  18. The dunk was great. They ran it from a set play in the half court offense. It was good by any standard. CPA is tough. They can win the whole thing. I will say, however, they they stand a chance of being beat if you get an officiating crew who calls the game close. The officials were beyond horrible last night. I can't say that FRA would have won or even been closer if the calls had been better, but I do know that FRA got fouled on three different three point attempts that were not called. That's nine free throws, and it could make a difference. Having said that, you don't want to be in CPA's bracket. I can't say enough good things about their team. FRA would rather play McEwen. They've already beat them once, at McEwen, and it would be abeter match up for them than NCS.
  19. Threads like this do a great job of showing how little many people know about basketball. Aaraon Green one of the best coaches in the state? Absolutely ridiculous. I agree that the standard for "best coach" is subjective, but surely there has to be some semblance of longevity and achievement in order to be the best. Half the guys mentioned I have never seen in the state tournament, and I have missed two in the last 20 years.
  20. I'm not willing to say that FRA will win. CPA is the best in the district, and there is no reason not to pick them. I do suspect, however, that CPA would rather have seen DCA tonight. FRA making it to the region was the big thing. They have already won twice in McEwen's gym this year and seem to play well there. Also, if you do some checking or know anything about FRA, you know that for some inexplicable reason, they have played much better on the road this year. There are some really good teams, and I agree with an earlier poster that Goodpasture is not getting the respect they deserve.
  21. One intersting thing is that McEwen doesn't really seem to play as well against anybody else as they do NCS. FRA beat McEwen at McEwen a couple of weeks ago with relative ease. NCS had already beaten FRA twice, and I though NCS is the better team. I think whoever plays McEwen in the first round of the region (I suspect it will be FRA or Ezell if things play out like I think) has a better than average chance of beating them. I am also going to go out on a limb and say that CPA gets upset sooner than people think. They are very good, and I don't have any reason to say that other than a gut feeling. If you handle their pressure, they can be beat.
  22. Tell you what, I'll take Bolivar over Lexington and put my house on it.
  23. FRA can beat CPA. They had the ball and a chance to tie at CPA in the last game. Would I bet on them, no way. CPA is very talented, but FRA has been my sleeper all year. Problem is, they haven't played with any energy. Never underestimate what tournament time can do to a talented team who slept through the season. The energy in the gym is a real lift. If you have ever been to a game at FRA's gym, its a morgue. For what its worth, I like NCS in 10A.
  24. DCS shot terrible and scored 7 points in the first half. FRA slowed it down after they got a double digit lead, but it wasn't what anybody thinks. They certainly did not "stall."
  25. I think ridiculous is a bit strong. Come tournament time, you win however you can.
