MSU, Basically, Cumberland Co. had a lot of well placed hits. Seems like everything they hit was in the gap. On a more positive note, the RHS Tigers beat Rhea Co. tonight 3-2. RHSfan
  3. Hey CoachMac, congrats on the win over USJ! Keep up the good work! RHSfan

  5. Baseball, agreed. But to change the zone to retaliate against some who has shown up the ump by altering the strike zone is unacceptable. RHSfan
  6. wad, What does my sight have to do with finding in the rulebook where it states that it is an acceptable practice for an umpire to alter the strike zone? If you can't find it in the rulebook, just don't reply. Your smart replies didn't answer the question. RHSfan
  7. Hey wad, just find it anywhere in the rulebook where it is acceptable to change the strike zone. I realize borderline pitches may go either way, but we are talking here about altering the zone to call obvious balls, strikes. Umpires do it, but you won't find it in any rule book where it is acceptable. RHSfan
  8. Yes, the umpires are a part of baseball; but who gave the umpires the right to change the strike zone?????????? An umpire who changes the strike zone because someone showed him up is no better than the ump who does not know the rules. The strike zone's size and area are prescribed in the FED rulebook. If the ump does not have the backbone to address an issue correctly, why not just call the batter out and save the pitcher from throwing 3 pitches? If the ump wants to be a real jerk and show everyone that it is HIS field and HIS ballgame, why not just call that half of the inning over? That is no worse than changing the strike zone. Learn the rules, umps and then abide by them......... RHSfan

    Rockwood

Rockwood looses at Rhea County, 3-5. Rockwood played a good game. At the end of 5, Rhea Co was ahead 3-2. Rockwood comes back in the top of 6 to score one and tie the game at 3-3. In the bottom of the 6th, blue (young and inexperienced) blows a call on a run down. Calls Rhea Co runner safe, should have been 3rd out. Rhea Co scores 2 runs after the blown call to make it 3-5. Rockwood unable to score in the top of the 7th. I don't like to blame losses on umpires, but this was one game in which a blown call was detrimental. Hats off to the Rhea Co team. They played a good game; so did Rockwood, but we just weren't able to score in the 7th to keep the game alive. RHSfan

    Rockwood

Rockwood looses a real nail biter to visiting AAA Cookeville, 9-12. The lead changed several times during the game, but Rockwood had a bad 7th inning, giving up 6 runs, that they just couldn't make up in the bottom of the inning. Rockwood led 9-6 going into the 7th, but several miscues, errors, and mental mistakes proved to be their undoing. For the most part, Rockwood hit the ball well and played a good game. Next up: Monday March 22, at Coalfield 5:00 pm. RHSfan

    Rockwood

99, I couldn't remember the score until I got home to post it if I didn't write it down. I admire the posts by Bizazz, HV and others who remember enough of the game to somewhat reconstruct it in a post (Although I think they cheat by using a scorebook ). If someone from Rockwood would post something with a little detail, I would appreciate it. Reed, did you hear that?????!!!!!! RHSfan

    Rockwood

In the first district contest of the season, Rockwood beats Sunbright 19-0. Most of the basketball players were back, some are taking a couple of days off to rest before getting into baseball. Everyone played this afternoon against a young Sunbright team. Give Sunbright a couple of years and they will develop into a decent team, they are very young. Rockwood will host Cookeville tomorrow at 2 pm. Everybody come. There is a huge tournament being held at the complex this weekend, so there is plenty of good food at the concessions stand. RHSfan
