  1. Is this thread in any way relevant to high school football?
  2. Rebelronnie, I guess you are right. If "outcoaching" means doing a better job of finding and enrolling the best talent in the county and then drawing up some trick plays to win the big games, then yeah, I agree. BTW, when are you guys going to build a shrine to GQ in downtown maryville so that sheep from all over can come and worship?
  3. Our team just does push ups, sit ups, and a few laps around the field. Every now and then we'll get a little crazy and do some calisthenics.
  4. OC23, Obviously your definition of a good coach is one who attends basketball games and hams it up with the kids. I'm not sure being good "buddies" with the players is always a sign of a good coach. As far as it taking some time for Shattuck to be successful, I'd say he'd better be beating OR and AC by next year, or the Clintonites will start working the back channels again. As for last year against OR at the 1, how do you know what play was called? Maybe a run was called and someone screwed up, or maybe a pass was called and the QB or WR ran the wrong way. What do you think most DC's expect the offense to run on the 1-yard line? Part of football is doing the unexpected. I, like you, hope the new coaches and players make the most of it. More importantly, I hope the parents and fans out there become realistic in their expectations and start supporting their kids and program regardless of wins/losses.
  5. Last I heard they were going to take the money they were saving from not having to buy mouthpieces for all the toothless ones out there and putting it towards the coaches salary. Should easily double the salary.

What players you talking about PG?
  7. It'll be a big pay cut to go from the Texans to Clinton, won't it?
  8. I saw one of their old assistant coaches and he was still toting around a copy of "Coaching for Dummies."
  9. sneaky, You're stirring up an ant's nest in here, man.

    maryville

Their linebackers will be second rate, at best.
  11. Word on the Clausen kid is that he will attend Maryville and then turn pro after his senior season. After meeting with some of the maryville boosters and hearing about the coaching staff at maryville, they determined that any coaching he received after high school would be a waste of time and only bring the kid down. Sounds like another lawsuit for the NFL.
  12. stars, you sound awfully familiar with the carousel. I guess I could give the girls of maryville a pointer if you know what I mean. On a serious note, I guess if I had anything to say to them it would be in the form of a question, such as: Girls, have you ever laid awake at night and wondered why your husband is hanging out down at the football locker room?
  13. After seeing some of the "women of maryvile" in the latest edition of "Mobile Home Swimsuit Edition," I can understand why you guys play for the other team.
  14. It'll be interesting to see how he spins this one.
  15. I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
  16. Maybe they can turn the defense around at Maryville
  17. Nope - I don't think I could ever get the same level of enjoyment he does out of hanging out in the football locker room.
  18. rebel78 = billygoat wannabe
  19. How could you want anybody other than Coach Helton or Coach Kerr? Both bring integrity to the program their involved with and excellence in X's and O's.
  20. stars = legend in his own mind.
  21. Dude, don't be knocking Ricky Yoakley. My dad and I both gradiated from there and we don't take too kindly to you folk making fun of it.
  22. VitaVol, Are you trying to say all these loyal maryville fans weren't there during the lean years when Alcoa was pounding them on a regular basis? Surely not.
  23. Newman

    Maryville

Maryville's defensive strength will win them at least 4 of their 5 wins this year.
  24. Alcoa by at least 2 touchdowns.
