  1. a bonified change of residence AND legal gaurdianship must take place; not just a simple change of address
  2. I think all the Jeff faithful need a big band-aid after that debockle from priceless!
  3. Well as of today he was at Alcoa in the office, so maybe you thought he was working out!!

    The Duck

I just don't understand what you guys are looking at here! Duck can play ball!! He will go big time. The only thing that's holding him back is his grades! I am willing to put money on that now!!
  5. I just spoke w/a relative of the Alcoa High School Guidence counselor and said that it is TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. i can tell you why he's leave. he will have no offensive line this year. plus who wouldnt want to play for a state championship next year, PLUS be on the field w/all of the other D-1 talent that Alcoa has on the field. That is the best way he can get noticed for a scholarship offer in the future. Scouts already know he ran for 1,800 yards playing in 5A, they know he played w/the best week in and week out. Win state, play w/multiple D-1 talent, and get noticed by just about every school in the country while doing it? sounds like plenty good reasons to transfer to me.
  7. my guess is that flashy is talking about Alcoa. Shiverdecker has previously had family attend alcoa from what i'm being told. This would be a heart breaker for the Jeff Co. program and a welcomed addition to the already LOADED Alcoa program. If it's true think of the backfield tandem the tornadoes will have. LINDSEY AND SHIVERDECKER! that's scary. Jeff Co / Alcoa fans, what's the word out of both places?????????????????????

    The Duck

if he sticks w/his commitment to UT he'll end up at Hargrave for a year, then end up playing FB for the Vols. He's not fast enough to be a big time D-1 TB, and they'll find out quick that he's not the best LB in the world. FB is his future at UT.
  9. alot of players choose not to play, that's why there are so many alternate's that get invited. just so happens this year alot of alternates were from the east.
  10. sure have, know how quite well............but the best PURE D-1 running back in the state is cooper, bottom line. lindsey will play defense and probably be successful at UT, but he's a great 2A back, there's a big difference in 2A and 4A.
  11. Forget the Memphis area, Greg Cooper is the best back in the state of TN!! Him and the kid from Antioch are the only pure D-1 RB's in TN.
  12. Gulmire-OR Shiverdecker-Jeff Co Walker-William Blount Lindsey-Alcoa Caldwell-Ooltewah
  13. "The Battle of Pistol Creek" has always had a nice ring to it.
  14. have you ever sat down and thought that there are 1,000's of other "roger herndon's who got the shaft" out there? just b/c you make a good HS player doesnt mean you should get an automatic ride to college. there are plenty of good HS football players, but there are only a handful of those who are actually good enough to play in college. college coaches will tell 1,000's of athletes the same things, just to keep them interested in case something falls through. i've known kids that cant tie their shoes but yet they receive letters daily from D-1 coaches b/c of their size and speed. colleges can make you into anything they want, hence the "size and speed" comment; they also tell you "all the right things that mama and daddy want to hear." it's not a game at this level, it's a business. they have to put food on the table for their families just like we do. im sure this herndon character was a great HS player, but if college coaches dont see the potential to be a big time impact in their program, they're not going to waste their time.
  15. highlight tapes are a waste, coaches will get them and throw them away. they dont want to see what you do "every now and then, your big plays," they want game tape, to see what you do on every snap, not just when you get the ball.
  16. About Vanderbilt taking the kid from Texas over the kid from Tennessee, there is a simple answer to that. The level of competition he plays on a weekly basis. he plays in a state that yearly puts out hundreds of D-1 players. it would take 5 years for TN to send that many kids D-1. Also, recruiting boils down to 3 things: size, speed, and level of competition you play. Big time schools are going to go after the 4A / 5A athletes b/c of the competition level, plain and simple.
  17. i'd be careful about dipping into the race issue. you're probably going to ruffle a lot of feathers in the next couple of hours.
