I do not think this is a Heritage thread. The last I looked, it was a WB Coach's thread. My son played for Heritage for 4 years at middlelinebacker. He is now in College playing Baseball. He had a great time during his 4 years there. Coach Rewis is doing a good job there, give him a few more years minus the injuries he had this year. They have a really sound Freshman, sophmore class. In any other district they go 6-4, or 7-3 the last few years. I applaud the Maryville and Alcoa football programs and there great tradition. Most people wouldn't know it, but in 2005 the Heritage football team won the Academic award for the state in having the highest GPA of all football teams. Nothing was ever written in the paper to congratulate them. WB is also on the right path in football as is Heritage if given time. Its hard to compete in County when two teams are state champions. This speaks volumes for the County, city and school systems. I am a fan of any team in Blount County and hope Maryville and Alcoa bring us home two championships this weekend.

Heritage has alot of good players in the pipeline. Remember the name Michael Cermak, he is only a freshman, but was the best back in the County last year. He will make an impack as soon as he gets on the field. He played some at the end of the Seymour game at outside linebacker and did a great job. He will start before the end of the season. Those type of players have to be on the field somewhere. He is young but exciting to watch.

Heritage has a good team this year as well as last. They play in the toughest Region in the State. Defense will have to step up if they are going to contend in there region. They are no Maryville or Oak Ridge, but Coach Rewis has them wanting to compete every Friday night. I was at the game Friday and they had a sideline full of players. When kids start wanting to play and you have the numbers, then the wins will start to come. Coach Rewis is committed and is also working in the lower programs as well. Given time he will build a winning team at Heritage. I hope they can make a run at the 4th playoff spot in the region. Good luck and have a good season Heritage. Heritage 26 CC 14

Congrats to Alcoa on the BIG win. Another great performance from Meyers and congratulation to Sam Waltermeyer on the big 2 run HR that helped win the game.

Another good outing for Junior Clinton Helton. In his last two outings he has wins over Farragut and Sevier County. This was another total team effort from the Mountaineers. Coach Bennett has his team ready to play every game. They are young in some positions and will get better the more games they play. Congrats to the team on the District win.

I was at the game. Both teams played good defense and both pitchers threw excellent games. Tough game to hit in with the weather and Heritage coming off a big win against Farragut the night before. Bowers was on his A game tonight on the mound. He hit his spots all night long, need to score more than 1 run in this district to win. Davis and Johnson both hit the ball well tonight. Maryville Pitcher stayed around the plate and managed a good game tonight. Maryville got the big hit when they needed it, and they played good defense. The ball in left was catchable but in the conditions it was a hard play to make. Congrats to both teams on a good game and especially Maryville on the win. Seems like these two teams always play close games.

I was at the game and watched the entire game. Farragut was not as sharp as in the past. They failed to execute and do the little things it takes to win a ballgame. On the other hand Heritage executed and scored when they had the chance. The biggest being the bunt by Young, with Bowers getting the base hit and scoring the 1st run of the game. Clinton Helton pitched a great game, he managed the ballgame better than Cheek and he came away with the win. Davis turned a mistake into three runs and won the ballgame. You might call it a flyball but it was 35 degrees, wind breezing in, I call it a HR. This game was a total team effort, right down to Goodson hitting the ball to the right side to move the runners in scoring position for Davis in the bottom of the 6th. Not many 3 hole hitters would do that for the team. Farragut will have to score more than 1 run if they want to repeat in the district. Farragut should not make excuses, this was a big win for Heritage and they should be congratulated. The more excuses you all make, the more respect you lose.

Jamey Davis Heritage High School, Has some offers in both Baseball and Football but still undecided which he will play. Visited and offered by Hiwasse and Maryville College, Contacted by Cleveland ST, TN Weslyan, Milligan, and TN Tech.

Borum signed with Cleveland State. Jamey Davis catcher for Heritage has visited and been offered by Hiwassee College and Maryville College. He has been contacted for visits by Cleveland State, TN Weslyan, Milligan, TN Tech, and just recently Walters State has interest in him. He is unsigned due to a couple football offers and he has not decided which to play. Maryville College has told him he could play both.

I was at the game last night. Maryville O-line and defensive line are great, Tucker, Evans and Smith are worth worth the price of admission. They are carring the offense and defense at this time. Hunt looked OK but he will get better as the season goes on. Heritage defense did a great job of stoping the run. The Linebackers led by Davis did a great job of stoping the run. If Coach Rewis plans on contending in any more games this year, he is going to have to play some seniors two ways on offense and defense. You cannot win if you cannot score. He is to talented on defense not to play some of the seniors on offense. GQ has alot of his studs playing both ways this year to make his team better. Coach Rewis has done a great job at Heritage, but he is not deep enough in talent to play them one way. Davis and Sceany should play some in the backfield, Caughhorn, Young, and Shelton should be helping out on the O-line.

Heritage lost 23-0, they where down 14-0 after 7 minutes into the first quarter. The Refs pretty much gave Farragut there first score and the field position they had in the first half. The Heritage O-Line needs to get better, they will have to step up for the Offense to have any chance. The defense will have to get better play from there outside LB's and corners. One play killed them all night. Farragut run the stretch play to perfection all night at least 15 times. They run ran it out of the same formation on both sides of the ball. Heritage showed alot of class and never give up. Davis and Sceany both had great games on defense. Farragut has a very physical team this year, and hopefully this will help some of the younger players get ready for the next few games. Good luck the rest of the year to the mountaineers.

Heritage won this game 2 years ago and lost 7-6 last year, with a missed extra point and field goal. I have been to both Heritage games and the defense has set up both wins. The defense will have to play big against Farragut for them to have a chance. The offense should have scored 40 points with the field position the defense provided them on several occasions. Both scores they gave up at Seymour were through the offense with turnovers and two 5 yard punts in the first half. Farragut also has a great defense and the Heritage offense will have to prove itself this week. If they can keep the turnovers to a minimum, play great defense, and have good play from there special teams. They have a chance to win a close one. HERITAGE-7 FARRAGUT-6

Watched him for 2 games. Average at best, Short, needs to block better, learn how to hang onto the football. Decent runner always gives 100 percent and keeps feet moving at all times, he will get his moneys worth over the next few weeks against Farragut, Maryville, Oak Ridge, and Soddy Daisy. Seymour and Campbell Cty had terrible defenses.

Agree with most of the selections, but Coach Bennett of Heritage really missed with Goodson. He quit the team and walked off the field last year. He missed almost all of there off season workouts along with a bad attitude, and lack of hustle all year. This sets a bad example for the younger players and is a slap in the face to the two Players who should have been selected.

During the 4AAA Tournament There was a big collision that sent Delmonico to the Hospital. Coach Bennett of Heritage had runners on 2nd and 3rd and could have scored both runs, but he held both of them and went to check on the two fallen Farragut players. Coach Bennett is a class act, The coach from halls should also show his class and accept the defeat and move on. If they are cheering like a softball team it is a direct reflection of there coach. Looks to me like he is not the class coach everyone thinks he is.

Tom 142 you never give Heritage any credit at all. If you start talking about being smart maybe you need to do spell check the next time you post! Heritage is no where near as athletic as Alcoa or Maryville, but they are a much improved ball team from last year.
