I was just wondering why we hadn't seen the contest back yet. There are sure plenty of big games happening.

What are we all waiting for? I know there is interest out there in this district. Now that the jamboree has given us a showcase of each team what are your predictions?

It is a completely new district this year. How will things work out? I don't know lots about all of the teams but since I am starting this I will give it a shot. 1. Elizabethton 2. South Greene 3. Unicoi County 4. Chuckey Doak 5. West Greene 6. Happy Valley 7. Sullivan North 8. Johnson County

Beating Greeneville is an accomplishment, even if it is just a scrimmage. Were your three point shooters unstopable - what allowed you to beat Greeneville?

Elizabethton's tradition is both a good and bad thing at this point. The Cyclone boys(as fans) and faithful have been this far in the playoffs and know what victory at this point tastes like. On the flip side, TN High will be more inspired to play their best on every down because they want that tradition at their school. This will be a tough game. Elizabethton has more momentum at the time. If the coaches keep doing a good job of preparing them for the game I look for Betsy to pull off the upset. Cyclones 24 Vikings 20

Maryville and Tennessee High looked pretty unbeatable most of the season but faltered a bit on Friday. I think I'll wait for this week's weather forecast to make my decision.

Sullivan East has the carrot this week. They want another shot at the only team that not only beat them but embarassed them this year! Can Sullivan East really beat Elizabethton 3 times in a row? No one thought they would beat them a first time but it happened! Both teams overcame turnovers in the first round. How much can they overcome in the second round and stay alive?

Congrats to all who worked so hard. It has taken several seasons to build this team but the committment from these guys has never wavered. Congrats on the Region title. Don't let anyone get in your way next week.

Eddie Pless is a good man and a good choice. I dont think HS coaches have too many options on who they surround themselves with. Not too many job postings to use for assistant football coaches in my opinion. Not at Elizabethton anyway.

Congrats to the Cyclone Boys for a huge victory. You totally dominated and have had a great year. 3 out of 4 back for next year!!!

I'm glad to see District 1 played well last night and is moving on. I believe Betsy is due for another big tournament win over Unicoi! Go get em girls.

Does anyone have a feeling how the rest of the meetings are going? Do you think the Z plan will be voted in or not? Do your coaches like it? I'm from a school that is AA in basketball,etc but plays up at AAAA in football and we don't like the change. We don't like that we would be forced to move up to AAA in other sports so that we can stay at 4A in football or forced to be 3A in football to leave our other sports in AA.

I haven't seen them play either but I know they are a very young team. That should be a plus as the season goes on as long as they work hard and believe in what they are being taught. I would rather have a young team with a 3-7 record than a seasoned team with that record.

Is there somewhere online where we can see the brackets? I'm particularly interested in knowing when the girls teams from EHS and TAD play.

Stand on a chair in front of the pit. Have the bar up. Have a friend hold the chair. Facing away from the bar jump up and over the bar. Think about getting your hips as high as possible and landing on your shoulders in the pit. That helped several athletes that I have coached.

The Cyclones did not recruit Hughes and never will recruit. The Twisters program provides a great opportunity for the young girls in and around the city of Elizabethton. Success breeds success. I certainly hope Weaver, Sparks, Kerns, et al are healthy next year. When our healthy team meets your healthy team the Cyclones will prevail.

In my opinion, the low scoring in the 4 games you mentioned is due as much to the pace of the game as it is to defense. The substate game against OS was a much faster paced game and the Cyclones still only managed 43 points. The pressure on the point guards and wings threw the offense out of whack. And as djgiles pointed out the Cyclones beat themselves on many occasions in those games. Next year you will see a confident team every time the Cyclones step out on the court. Beware!

Buki4life, How long has YOUR team been at the house?!? Congratulation Cyclones on a great season. You worked hard and deserve every accolade you received. Congratulations to Oliver Springs. That was the best defense we have played against this year and you certainly earned the trip to Murfreesboro. Good luck.
