  1. My rule book is from 04-05. It states in End-of-match Procedure (6-5-2) that "The wrestlers shall shake hands and the referee shall declare the winner by raising the winning wrestler's hand." Then near teh end of the book it has a paragraph entitled Shaking Hands with Referee or Opposing Coach where is states that "rule 6-5-2 does not require wrestlers to shake hands with the referee or the opposing coach..." it goes on to state "The opposing coach can but does not have to shake hands with the opposing wrestler at the end of the match." It then discusses that if either the wrestler or the coach shake hands in a negative fashion they will be penalized. "It is an act of unsportsmanlike conduct to be pnealized whenever it occurs regardless of the circumstances." Our high school (Bolton) stopped shaking hands about 4 years ago when Ronnie Carter brought up the issue as Coach Lewis stated. I have seen several kids be aggressive when shaking hands with coaches. My oldest son helps coach the high school team and at regions he almost had his arm pulled off by a sore winner. The kid was mad at teh conclusion of a match he won because he did not pin or because his opponent got a reversal on him. He yanked my son (coaching) by the hand then bumped his own coach in the arm with his shoulder as he walked passed him. I think it is a bad practice, although I thought it was a good sign of respect when I first started coming to wrestling matches. I do not think any of the wrestler's should go near the opposing team until the end of the match. Did I just agree with Coach Lewis? Something MUST be wrong!
  2. Usually each team sits wherever they can find a spot big enough for their team and parents. However we usually cheer for everyone from the west. At least I know what I do and what some of the parents from other teams have told me they did. Some teams have sat together but I'm not sure you can count on that as seating is cramped on the bottom level, and gets much worse when DII come the second day Finals are the worse unless you get there early and ready to tackle for your section.
  3. My boys are going, TJ and Riley.

  5. Zach Herndon beat Nate Johnson, 11-7. But to be fair to Nate that was back on Dec. 5. Of course I'm rooting for Zach.
  6. Bray's are on tennesseewrestling.com Hamm's are on tennwrestling.com
  7. TSSAA has a rule that regionals have to be done a certain number of days before the state tournament. Since State has moved up a day, Regions hvae to move up a day.
  8. High school gets out at 2pm. It takes about 5 hours to get to Chattanooga. Plenty of time to go to school Tuesday and still get to Chatt. in time to workout/dinner/whatever before going to bed. Thanks for your concern but the boys will be fine.
  9. This new date for this year has been on the schedule all school year. I saw it when school schedules were just being posted. Most of you are complaining because your coach just assumed the dates when they pasted out schedules to the boys and parents, otherwise you would have been complaining and contacting TSSAA back at the beginning of the school year.
  10. Hamm, I know you know my sons, TJ and Riley, they are going. I'm not sure where they are staying as their chiropractor, who is also going, is making the arrangements. The Doc used to wrestle in high school in Minnesota.
  11. It is the top four from each district. There are 2 districts in Region 10, basically divided into the south and the north. Your team record for the season in matches against each other desides the top four.
  12. Last year it was the top 4 teams from each district in our region. Not everyone goes to Region Duals.
  13. My guess would be unsportsmanlike conduct.
  14. My oldest used to use "Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed, now he uses "If You Want Blood (You Got It)" by AC/DC.
  15. We were at the Missouri Open and the guys on the Missouri Valley team said that they thought Chris was back in TN. Does anyone know his whereabouts? We always loved running into him, he is such a great guy.
  16. I love Nelly's "Number 1" and Eminem's "Lose Yourself" during season. (Okay, I have the edited versions. I'm a mom, what can I say.)
  17. TJ says there are 5 or 6 guys at 141. Michael Keefe is the starter, duhhh. I guess Cody is the backup since he wrestled against Michael. The guys all told me last year that you are either in the "line-up" or your just the rest of the team. TJ has wrestled Cody and they have gone back and forth against each other. Mark is very good also. I do not remember the names of the rest of the guys at that weight. Pete wrestled at 133 for the Blue Gold match but I hear from my mat girl that he has gained some weight since then, so I am not sure where he is going to wrestle this year.
  18. We got home yesterday from watching TJ wrestle at the University of the Cumberlands in KY. He took third at 141. He got sick before his second match and was moving slow, he lost that one, then had a Borneman episode. He later beat the guy who beat him. I believe his final match was against the guy who beat the guy who beat him. (Sorry if that does not make sense, blonde and polish remember.) We saw Luke, he was helping coach his team. He is healing from some injuries but hopefully will be back soon. Oh, TJ got 4th at the Georgia Tech tournament a couple of weeks ago.
  19. It is not someone off our HS team (which is still my current team, everyone forgets about my "favorite" son), Riley is a Sr. this year. TJ was just too much of a center-stage kind of person. Actually, Tim's cousin's son is on the Arlington team, and my first response was for the boy to talk to Coach Cordaro. However, the dad was wanting look on his own, who knows why. Thanks for the help. What about UTMartin? I thought I heard someone say they had a club team.
  20. A friend of mine needs help finding all the TN college's that have some type of wrestling, even if it is a club program. I'm sure my college son could tell me some schools but I want to give the guy a full view of what's out there. His son is a Jr. this year. Dad is wanting to get a look around at the options in Tennessee. Could someone please help with this search? TJ only wanted to go to UTC so we never got to look around. Thanks!!!!
  21. And I see that Coach Joe Seay was awarded Coach of the Year! Way to Go Mocs!
  22. In the past we have not had too many college wrestlers. However this year we are really working to get that age group up. My son is talking it up to his team mates at UTC. He thinks he has several coming between there and some other college friends he has at other schools. Pre-registering is great and makes the sign-in process go much faster, however you may sign-up that morning.
  23. The flyer is now posted on our website. It is at the top of the page in red. Bolton Wrestling
  24. I was told a week ago it would be sent by coach to the webmaster. However Coach had an emergency situation and must not have had the opportunity to send it. I have e-mailed him today, as everything is back to normal now, and it should get sent and posted today.
  25. Due to a few unforeseen schedule conflicts, Bolton High School has changed the date of the NHSCA National Qualifier. We will be holding the tournament on Saturday, April 1. Flyers are available on our wrestling website Bolton Wrestling Placing in this tournament, qualifies you to wrestle in the National Tournament in Virginia Beach. Hope this date is better for the wrestlers and coaches.
