For the first time in 21 years, the Cougars are headed back to the boro!! It was back in 1984 I witnessed my first state tournment. Since then I've seen 19 others without the Cougars, so you think I'm going to miss this one.... Not a Chance! Congratulations guys, great job. Go Cougars! thumb

I don't think you'll see the region times and dates decided until after the districts or at least until after the 4 teams in each district have been decided. They usually have a meeting between all eight coaches to decide things.

As we are on the eve of the D1 AA tournament, I would like to wish the lady Cougars the best in post season. I would like to remind you that I still remember 3 years ago in the opening round, we came in flat as the #1 seed and got beat by #8 Happy Valley. Don't let that happen again! I don't think anyone is unbeatable in this region, so girls, give it your best and see how far you can go! Go Lady Gougars!!

Well, since no one has picked them yet I'll go with my Cougars in a close one, say 75 -71. However it'll take probably their best effort of the season to do it. HV is playing some good ball right now.

Maybe it's because the refs were not to blame!

Great win tonight against a very impressive Unicoi Co. team. Gabe Buchanan and Phillip Weatherford flat wore out the Blue Devils in the second half. Our defense still needs improvement as does our free throw shooting, but a job well done nonetheless! Go Cougars!

Of coarse we have a tough non conference game today with an improving South team. I don't much care for the scheduling, I think both South and Central would have been better off playing on Saturday. South has a conference Friday as well. Who schedules these games anyway

This game should be pretty close. It may come down to who does the best job coaching. Basketball is a game of runs, may be the last team to put together a late run wins this thing. I give the Warriors the edge at home.

Wasn't able to attend tonight's game, had to work However my informers who attended tell me the Cougars played really well. Thursday and Friday's games should tell us how good we are. South is playing pretty well right now and Happy Valley will be tough at their place. Go Cougars !

Another hard fought win against a pretty good Hampton team. Buchanan and Weatherford had good games. Also Leanard, after a slow start, came through at the end with some key baskets a couple of free throws. Our defense continues to struggle. We'll have to improve if we're to win the big ones down the road. Big week coming up. Go Cougars.

We were luck to win. We didn't play a lick of defense in the first half. Did a better job in the 2nd. If Unicoi hits their free throws we probably get beat. But it's a good win on the road. thumb

I got the story from an online Daytona Beach newspaper. The only other teams they mentioned were Atlantic's earlier opponents, Monsignor Farrell, NY and William Blount from Maryville.

Atlantic,FL broke open a close game in the 4th and beat the Cougars 67-58 in the finals of the Sunshine Classic. The Cougars Phillip Weatherford led all scorers with 22 and was named the tourneys MVP. Jeff Beverly was also named to the all tournment team.

Good luck Kristi, Beth ,Caitie, Julie and all the lady Cougars on your Florida trip. Win one for all of us who have to stay here in cold Cougar county!

I agree. That's one of the reasons I won't be attending this year.

It's a shame she's missed as many games as she has because of injury. Hope she stays healthy and has a successfull end to her high school career. She certainly deserves it. thumb

I haven't had a chance to see them scrimmage, however I do know it's going to be hard replacing Dunford, Brown and O'Dell. A lot inexperience to start the season. However as I start my 29th year following Cougar basketball, it's still exciting anticipating another season of Central roundball!. Go Gougars! thumb

Sure look forward to attending another boys state tourney. This will be my 19th trip. To a high school basketball junkie like me , there's nothing like it. Good luck to all east Tn teams.
