  1. Stonewall just owned EHS. DB will be back like they always are, I know a ton of teams that would be ecstatic with what DB has done the past 10 years. Best of luck to the East TN teams the rest of the year. EHS: everyone would love to see you all win state and represent east TN, don't act like a clown and ruin that, best of luck to you and Greeneville.
  2. Doesn't matter, Greeneville is a machine and is the blueprint for every east TN team from here on out. Greeneville by 21
  3. I think East hit a home run. Colobro will only be there a few years but he will be great for them and get the program competing for conference championships as soon as next year. Coaches who understand how to win state titles will do just fine no matter where they are coaching. I wish Central would've hired him in 08. As far as Central goes, I think they needed to make a hire that would keep Holston's best kids from transferring to Db and South and I don't feel like this hire did that. I know this hire will keep Blountville's players in though. My opinion on the biggest issue at Central is the offseason training program and depth, every year it seems like there are 5-10 kids who work their tails off and the rest don't. This is a big reason why they lose close games and always have tons of injuries imo. Central will have the best QB in the area next year so if there is not excitement for kids at the school and improvement I think it may be a while until there is.
  4. So no middle school coach should even be offered an assistant coaching job at a high school position? No matter the sport. Since nothing that happens at the middle school level will qualify you for high school? Why even coach middle school then? Especially if you want to try to move up. I am 20, there is plenty of stuff I haven't seen and I understand that, but I still don't understand this kid obsession people have on this board. I have been around plenty of delusional parents and understand there are a ton of variables both inside the school and outside the school that go into a program being successful, but in my opinion it is silly to try and diminish someone's accomplishments they make at the level they are given and automatically assume they could not handle the challenges that come at the next level. If there is some glaring nugget of knowledge I am missing and you could provide I would like to hear it, because as far as x's and o's go, there are plenty of middle school coaches who do a very good job, after that it comes down to getting kids to come out, motivating them, and being able to handle the outside distractions IMO.
  5. Dude, you clearly have an agenda, you can deny all you want but it is true. I don't even need to be writing on here because Harrison's resume' speaks for its self but he is a fantastic coach. I can tell you the year I was in 8th grade we had no business winning the games(and titles) we won. Example, my senior year, the senior class was 3bltv, one Holston. That Holston team that had 1 senior on the varsity team won the biggest tournament they could that season in that sectional thing. There is no need to turn this into a Harrison vs. Vaughn thing, I have a lot of respect for Vaughn and that 20 win season streak he put together, but to constantly bash Coach Harrison like I have seen you do in the past years proves there must be something that really bothers you. For that I feel sorry for you did you just say his "resume" referring to middle school game? If you would hire someone for a varsity position because of what he did in middle school, you would be the reason that people laugh at East and Central football. You are as bad as the parents at Volunteer and South that want to talk about what little Johnny did as a running back in Middle School. It is MIDDLE SCHOOL. One small step up from rec ball. I am not for or against the man but please don't bring up what he did as a middle school coach to say he should be a head coach. That is a joke on him, the school, and especially you. Are you crazy? How about his resume' as far as his basketball career goes. He has had experience with a lot of the kids that have gone through the system, has tons of respect in the coaching community, and also played college basketball, so he has been exposed to plenty of knowledgeable basketball minds. I am fully aware of the changes that kids go through physically and mentally from middle school to high school, I am not sticking up for him because he gave me playing time in middle school or all these little johnny jokes people always make, I respect him as a man and coach. Along with that, what does East and Central football have to do with that? Compared to what East used to be, I don't see too many people laughing, and if Central ever makes the right hire, people won't be laughing there either. It is very obvious that there are plenty of delusional parents out there, that is just a given and will be for eternity, but I think it is silly to act like this man can not coach, you want him to accept an assistant job at a HS before you feel he is varsity material that is fine, but I don't think he seems too concerned about that opinion, and if given the chance to be a head varsity coach, I think he will be very successful. A lot of hypothetical situations in there, and really this is a side note from what this thread was going for, that is just something I feel strongly about. Side question for you, do you think if Central hired Chaz Seeger as their head coach and South hired Hunter Jordan as their Head coach they would be horrible hires? Neither have head coaching experience in HS (could be wrong about Jordan there) but both have been very successful on the Middle school level.
  6. I'm not a "Harrison hater" I just think he has no real coaching abilities. If he has talent he looks good; if he doesn't he stinks. You must be one of his little guys who was a big guy on campus at MIDDLE SCHOOL. I never had a team play him; I was an old high school coach. My collegues were Dale Burns, McCrary, Dickie Warren, real talented guys. There was talent my friend. Not some snotty nosed kid who holds some free shot record. I have no little Johnny who played against him either. I still have friends and colleagues in the system who say he won't ever be a high school coach. Guys at the high school level are a different breed and they are already there jockying for a position. Nathan isn't a ball hog. He can just outshoot, out score and out play the local talent, if that's what it is. It's a shame we lost him from East. He's a good kid; class act unlike some of your other "team" players whose daddies are out there sucking up. In my book, Vaughn is in the league with Burns, McCrary, Warren, and company. Too bad Vaughn didn't let you play; he can recognize talent. 7. If I were Central I look at two people, choice number one is Chaz Seeger from Holston. Annual success and kids loved playing for him, choice number 2 would be witten at John Battle. No clue if he would be interested at all, but from what I have been told he has done a good job turning that program around, he also has a name that could get kids excited. The potential at Central is there, and they also will have the best qb in the area next year in my opinion.
  8. Holston Middle School head coach Chas. Seegar was ready to go to Central 5 years ago. He has built Holston into a dominant force in the middle school arena. He wants to go. And he should go. He played at Central for T. McFerrin and is the only man who can bring that program back to it's 1970's domination. If he goes Central will no longer be just a basketball school. T. McFerrin won a regional championship with Central in the mid to late 70's. He has currently won 11 regional titles at 7 different schools since returning to Georgia after leaving Sullivan Central. If I'm not mistaken, Seegar played on that regional championship team under McFerrin. Seegar is a devout Christian, a family man, and a powerful football mind. He is young enough to be around a while and old enough to know the score. For East, Dobyns Benett has a couple assistants that are primed and ready to wean. South has Justin Hilton who has the inside track and if desired would most likely be the first candidate. Haney has stated to me in the past that he is interested in administration. Whether he would be interested or not is to be seen. I would venture to say no. That leaves Hunter Jordan. And in my opinion, he is the man for the job. Many will say he is not head coach material but I beg to differ. He has issues with administration but he is a master motivator, an offensive wizard, and players will flock to him just like Stacy Carter. He prepped the likes of Jake Hicks, Curt Phillips, both Kitzmillers, Taylor Fletcher, Hunter Beedle, and Ty Garvin to mention a few while at CHMS. While at CHMS he won 5 out of 6 championships. He lost the 6th to Chas. Seegar from Holston in a dogfight. There are those that will say a Middle School Coach does not a High School Coach make. He spent one year as OC at Daniel Boone HS and that is the only year besides 2009 that Boone came close to beating South in recent history. Pretty much spot on, Seeger would be great at Central, awesome at finding spots for the best athletes, would be able to get some athletes that brush off football to come out. I absolutely loved playing for that man in middle school, to think outside of the box a little, and this is just total speculation and an idea, I would look to the Witten that is at John Battle, not fully sure what their record was, but I have heard he has developed young talent, put them on a good offseason training program, and has them respectable, and they were in a similar situation as Central was, being only looked at as a baseball school and basically finishing season after season 1-9,0-10, etc. Best wishes to Coach Carter, what he did at SSHS this year and in his career is nothing short of amazing and admirable
  9. Keep fighting Central, as an alum who loves this school and football team to death, please keep fighting, one day it may all turn around, and the work will make it worth it. South will score 35 in first half, who knows after that. I'll say 42-14. Always fight. 2 Timothy 4:7
  10. One of the saddest things I have ever heard. I saw this young man come in to where I worked many times and couldn't get over how much he would dominate. My deepest prayers go out to the South community and his family
  11. Don't forget about Moretz, the transfer. He will be a playmaker at safety and at WR.
  12. Trying to be unbiased here but having 4 good qb's compared to 2 doesn't matter in a game. Um, don't you only play one. And Sensabaugh was a beast against Farragut, who had huge linebackers, and was a beast against Oak Ridge. So I guess there goes the theory about the weaker teams. Mind you, I would cheer for South, but so many athletes at DB, so much depth, and the best player on the field. That makes a huge difference, sometimes you can have a good scheme, and good players, but DB would have the best player on the field, which makes a huge difference. And South fans should know about that, Tenn High last year had a great scheme against you all, and great players, but you had a star player who wouldn't be denied. And there was nothing Tn High could do. Its fun to talk about, but unfortunately it will never happen. Also, it's pointless to argue with Waco, its gonna end up with you mad, and him laughing about it. Best of luck to both teams this year.
  13. I am a fan of the champion is the favorite until they don't deserve it. So I think South still has to be the favorite. They have a great RB,a great line, great coaching, and speed all over the place. Tn High will be beasts, but I think with all the athletes they have that offense is so stupid. They have the athletes to blow ppl out,but they just don't. I am not on the Elizabethton bandwagon yet either, for the past 4 years everyone says its their year, till it happens, I don't buy it! I also still say JC is too small up front to ever compete for a conference title, tons of heart, hard hitting, but can't win dogfights due to their lack of size in the line. I also think they need to put Prudhomme at running back, get him as many touches as possible. I think Central will be improved. Good group of Seniors, talented sophomore class, and a few great athletes. One again, those first 2 games are key, they are winnable, and if they can win one or 2 of those, big time morale boost. Gotta get the confidence up, that team always works hard, but has been snake bit, I would love to see them get some breaks this year. 1. Sullivan South 2. THS 3. JC 4. Sullivan East 5. Betsy 6. Sullivan Central 7. Unicoi 8. North POTY - Bradley Davenport - QB - Sullivan South. Athlete of the year - Prudhomme - Johnson County Linemen of the year - Hunter Beedle - Sullivan South. Good luck to all. Go Cougars!
  14. Chris St.Louis and Mickey Brown form a tenacious doubles team from Sullivan Central. They have dominated every match they have played and even beat the Bryan brothers in an exhibition match. They also dominate in the singles department and the department of getting women. They will win State. I bet my life on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I fully agree on athletic directors and coaches need to support kids into playing multiple sports. Unless you have a stud athlete, who could go to college for free in one sport,I feel like multiple sports should be encouraged to play, you're only in high school once. And from what I have heard, you all should beat Happy Valley. And even though you may not be beating 2 quality teams, getting off to a good start is crucial. I'm sure the enthusiasm in the kids and at the school will be at an all time high if they start out 2-0.
