  1. Credit card sales will end tomorrow (Wed) at 10 pm. Register now!!
  2. Not an ignorant question. The list the Animal provided are all National Wrestling Hall of Fame members. They have been inducted into the State Chapter for their service to our state. The other list someone asked about are National members inducted for their service nationally. Each state chapter has the option of inducting a class each year. Same for National. Obviously, the National class is much smaller. I haven't run a check on Tennesseans honored by National, but I can tell you a Tennessean was in this year's National class as Outstanding American. It was Chief Chad Smith who is the current Chief of the Cherokee Nation and now resides in Oklahoma. He wrestled for G. P. West in his first wrestling season at Maplewood.
  3. Well this will shake some things up...I just heard Portland 1-Hendersonville 0 Someone please confirm.
  4. Wilson Central is returning a lot of good players and had a pretty decent season last year too.
  5. Let me get this straight. Defenseless in a spladle...on my back. The referee slaps the mat and I think I have a chance to WIN. I'm another one not there but I have to believe the Franklin wrestler was just disappointed at being in a position out of his control. I've seen Franklin win and lose this year and as a whole, the team and coaches strike me as respectable. The fans blistering the refs for not GIVING the match to the defensive wrestler must be kidding. I'll give you that four shoulders were down (remember, I wasn't there), but to expect your wrestler to win while he can't move and on his back is a little greedy.
  6. Agree about Lennon. He used to beat himself up before the match. You know he didn't care anything about you. Who was the Gorham at Ryan that had the rep for bar fights in high school. He was very intimidating. There was a smaller Cheatham County champ parading in the locker room before matches. He was good and tough and the parading was unnerving.
  7. I want to thank everyone who came out to recognize and support the fabulous inductees last night. There were over 300 in attendance with people coming from all over--Texas, VA, PA, FL, KY, GA, AL, MS, MO and a special thank you to David Thoni who was very entertaining and traveled from London, England.
  8. Is Campbell Lewis the freshman that won it at 125 for Soddy Daisy last year? If so, then he is off to a good start in his competitive career. I can only hope that wrestling stays in his blood long enough to give back to wrestling and influence many young men like himself. If I have the wrong guy, then you know that Steve Henry and Danny Gilbert have only recently been inducted, right? Put things in perspective.
  9. You need to contact Pete Stafford or Jeff Arnold.
  10. The MTWOA Tournament at McGavock for freshmen is Jan 23 not 16. Also, we are adding a division to the middle school portion of this team tournament. There will be one division (same as the past) with teams that compete with wrestlers that competed for no one else but their school this season (school teams). There will be another division open to clubs and multiple school teams. We hope to get the best teams from all around the state, not just middle TN.
  11. We will post more detailed info on these guys soon, but very briefly: Tony Bradley and Walt Holmes are coaches at Germantown and Houston, respectively and have been instrumental in Memphis wrestling both in high school and clubs. Joe Wiggins, Jack Faircloth and Jim Simpson are referees. Joe was one of the first big time referees in Middle TN and also assigned matches. Jack is a 30+ year referee. Jim has reffed over 25 yrs and help start Nashville Catholic Wrestling where he is still involved. Doug Newman coached at Hunters Lane and was one of the first to use computer programs to run tournaments. Scott Brunette coached at McGavock and started Whites Creek's program. He is current Metro AD. Joe Black Hayes is in his 90's now. He coached at MTSU and also reffed. Artie Manning was a coach and supporter of Clarksville. He's run the Duals since they've been in Clarksville. These men have done so much more than what I've listed, but hopefully this should help jog memories.
  12. This year's TN Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee are: Tony Bradley Scott Brunette Jack Faircloth Joe Black Hayes Walt Holmes Artie Manning Doug Newman Jim Simpson Joe Wiggins I hope you will join me in recognizing their contribution to wrestling as we celebrate their induction on Oct. 24.
  13. We have been focusing on this year's inductees and the banquet. A West TN representative is next on the list. Ghouse-I buried your email and will get with you soon, sorry. I've been up to my elbows with kickball and vacation too.
  14. There will be an induction banquet at the Marriott Nashville Airport on Sat Oct 24 for the Class of 2009 TN Wrestling Hall of Fame members.
  15. Hendersonville hammered Beech 6-0
  16. Beech starts 9 freshmen and sophomores, no juniors and 2 seniors.
  17. Daniel, what do you think of Andre Aponte from Northeast?
  18. Yours is a tough schedule for sure, but Hendersonville also played Station Camp (not included on earlier posts). What does CBHS schedule look like?
  19. I've had trouble when I click 'scoreboard' just above the message boxes ('soccer index' SCOREBOARD 'find a school') but no trouble when I click 'scoreboard' at the top next to 'message boards'. Not sure if that is very clear. Not having this problem anymore. Thanks!
  20. Hopefully Beech is up and coming, but we are very young. Beech starts 8 fres and soph (no jrs), but no excuses. We expect to play good soccer and are looking forward to the good competition.
  21. If this is still a dead period then there is no open facilities (no school gyms or wrestling rooms). Just don't want anyone sideways with TSSAA.
  22. Fletcher Bowler, also from the Kaos Arsenal team, scored the first goal and had an assist for Beech in 6-1 win over Hunters Lane tonight.
  23. The referees would also like to thank all that participated and especially thank Coach Peck and his group for a very well run tournament.
  24. The TN Wrestling Hall of Fame announces the following new officers and Board Members: Officers-Chris Vandergriff, Sec, Darrel Lauderdale, Trea, Tim Garrett, VP, P. A. Bowler, Pres Board Members-B. B. Branton, Luther Killian, Charlie Goss, Steve Henry, G. P. West, with one spot open for a West TN rep This announcement is an effort to become more visible in the wrestling community for an organization that is recognizing the contributions of those who have made (and are making) a real difference. Life-Time Achievement inductees start at contributing 20 years to wrestling after their competitive careers are over. The next induction banquet will be held in Middle TN, likely next fall. Look for more information soon. Yours in wrestling P. A. Bowler (on behalf of the TWHOF)
  25. Don't know the specifics of this, but wrestling equipment must be "unadorned". You cannot enhance it by adding cool stickers or magnets to it. You can't write a special message to your girlfriend or even your mom on your kneepads.
