  1. Agreed on Chambers and Odem......they'll both be good. I also like big Chucky over at Volunteer.
  2. I agree on both Wooten and Beamon. I saw Wooten play a lot more than Beamon but they both are VERY GOOD and will be strong college players.
  3. Mason was good....not outstanding. It is hard to judge some guys from an All-Star type setting. What I saw from him seemed to be a team guy who didn't force much. I was impressed with him, but there were a BUNCH of talented guys on the court. Hopefully, that game will be the start of something great in Chatt.
  4. That was a GREAT All-Star game....really put togerther well by the guys who organized it. A LOT of fun and a job well done by the players AND the guys who put it together!
  5. I'm not an Eliz. guy----I watch a LOT of HS ball and what Betsy did this year was outstanding. I can understand why a son would be pruod of his father's team and the job he did. With that said---why come on here and attack a son for stating his respect/joy for his father's team. There was nothing directed at anyone else. Now---if this was said on another thread not titled Elizabethton hoops I would understand----but that certainly isn't the case. If you want to discuss your own teams----start your own thread. Congrats to Elizabethton as well as the rest of the quality teams in East TN who had solid years.
  6. I know there is an All-Star game this Friday at 7:30 at Tyner. Anyone have a list of all the guys playing in it?
  7. I'll defintley be at that All-Sar game---you going?
  8. I attended that all-star game last year. IT seemed to be well run and there were a lot of other small college coaches there. I will more than likely be there again this year. When and where is it again?
  9. Mrs. Lindholm---GREAT to see you on here. I am a BIG fan of your son. I REALLY had a great time coaching him a few Springs ago in Italy!!! Tell him hello from his coach over in Italy and please pass along my congrats on a GREAT year! Also--please pass along a hello to your husband....I saw him a month or so ago in Bristol! 10. I know the big ones: Matt Malone to Chatt. Lee Humphrey to UF any others, small colleges, etc?
  11. Now that the season is finished---what do any of you know about players in your area and their college picks? WHo are some of the top guys in your area and where are they looking to commit or where have they comitted to?
  12. I'm an impartial outside part who has seen both of these teams a few times (Greeneville probalby 6 times ---- especially recently) and Maryville in the Arby's. I'd say this is a toss up based on what I've seen. They are both pretty talented squads...although Greeneville is not as deep. I saw where someone on here said that G-ville can be pressed---I'm not so sure. they DID have a couple of late tunrovers against DB's press but handled their pressure fairly well for the most part and weren't bothered much at all by SHill's the game before. Poore has been handling the ball more for them and is a very effective ballhandler. Blair is a solid inside/out guy who is a pretty good athlete. I've also seen on here that people think Malone plays dirty---I tend to disagree there----he CAN and does get frustrated but he is SO big, other guys bounce off of him. He will be a quality SoCon big man when he's playing against guys who don't fly away from him when he bumps them. Maryville is VERY well coached and will be tough to beat at home. Humphrey is a gamer---I'd be very interested to see how the Poore/Humphrey matchup turns out. The supporting cast around Humphrey may be a little better than the 4-6 players for the Devils. They get very little production from anyone outside of their big 3. PLUS---Maryville can go deeper than just those 6 players. It should be a fun matchup!
  13. Any new word on where DB's Seniors are headed next year? I've seen them play a good bit and they have four guys that are seniors that are college level players.
  14. Word is he is going to either NW Miss CC or SWTn CC.....then transfer to another 4 year school after next year. If he goes the JC route, he will be eligible as a SOPH next year and then as a JR transfer somewhere the next.
  15. Stokomo--I know a college that would like to have one of your guys for a JV program.....it's already been mentioned to the young man. Tell Coach Whittemore that a former Golden Eagle and co-visitor of Milan with him say hello! Best of luck to the Falcons.
  16. If that's the case---we are definitley interested......we'll have someoene watching him Tuesday!
  17. I wanted to double check---are these games at Belmont or Lipscomb? I've heard both. THANKS
  18. I would be very interested to hear more about Ferguson. We are a smaller school that contacted him early and thought he might go bigger. We will have someone watching the Regional, but I wouldn't mind hearing more about Mr. Ferguson!
  19. The game I saw Skogen---he caught a VERY nice two handed oop off of a set play in the halfcourt. Dunno what happened with his rim check dunk---but he got a nice one in the game I saw.
  20. CoachTDog: I agree with you there WHOLEheartedly. Unaka and Temple are two of the better coached teams I have seen this year. I am more familiar with the guys in Stony Creek and they do a GREAT job every year. I recently saw Temple for the 1st time and the guy there does a solid job as well. It should be fun to see how Chambers develops while I think Skogen will have a nice career at Mercer......that's the perfect level for him to succeed in in my opinion.
  21. Skogen (sp?) is the best Single A kid I've seen this year. The kid is an absoloute P-L-A-Y-E-R! I have seen Chambers at Unaka as well, and while Rusty is VERY good, Jake would get my vote if I had one. Scores it inside/out and dunks it easily. Is a 6'4 2G. He is legit and averaging 28+ per game!
  22. Stokomo-- I've never really gotten into that argument regarding the Memphis schools. I was just making a general statement about the overall talent level----which is, FAR more superior in the West. Now---you and I both know that talent alone doesn't mean crap.....heck, I played on a HS team that had 9 (NINE) players from it play at some level of college basketball-----you would think that a team like that would be District champs or something----try, we won 2!!!!! games all season! By the way, yes, I went to HS in West TN graduating in 1990. From what I have observed about the coaches in East TN compared to the west----is that the coaching is higher quality in MOST cases in the East. As for the Memphis argument---USUALLY, the best team that comes out of there should be battle tested and ready to win it all in Murfreesboro----that's where the toughest competition is and whoever emerges from there has done something to get there. Now, will there be great teams with a lot of talent that emerge ftom other parts of the state? Sure. Chattanooga puts out some really talented players. And, this year, there are quite a few East TN teams with decent talent and the coaching to get them pretty far. From the teams I have watched, those include: Dobyns-Bennett, Greenveille, Maryville, Brainerd in AAA........Elizabethton and Sullivan Central in AA....University High and Unaka in A.....again, those are just the contendors from the teams I have actually watched play this year.
