thanks, for the compliments gentlemen. It is baseball season. I try to cover the colleges extensively during the January February period when HS is not playing, but the main focus of the site is High School and Juco baseball - The TJCCAA opens this week - Here is the opening series for JUCO ball in TN Cleveland at Walters Columbia vs Volunteer Dyersburg vs Southwest Hiwassee vs Roane Jackson vs Motlow (Showdown Series of the Week) TN Baseball Report - TJCCAA Baseball We will have full coverage of this weekends action on the linked page Also, if your school does not have a preview posted, call the coach, complain to the coach, I have called 75 or 80 schools who have not posted - 10-15 have replied - So maybe with your help we can get these guys to help promote HS baseball.
  2. 2005 Region 1 and 2 Team Previews Who is the new Rutledge coach? How can I reach him? email or phone? thanks, jd
  3. Why did Coach Coley resign? I know he was going to make a long drive because his wife teaches in Sumner co. and they live in Cross Plains.
  4. the wizard must be on vacation, but in his defense, all i can say is that we paid good money for each and every one of those calls!!
  5. when i was coaching we always kept the book in the dugout, most of the time we had a manager trained to do it and if there was a question, we told her how to score it. We also taught every one of our players how to score a game - usually in January we would watch a video of a game i had taped - world series games, college world series games, etc - the kids didn't really like it, but as i told them- one or two of you guys may end up coaching and if you don't know how to keep score you'll be in trouble - as a kid i would score the saturday nbc game of the week every Saturday - we also had about 3 or 4 charts we kept and all the players had to learn those as well. when i coached in KY we had a kid pitch a game and the newspaper reporter thought it was a no hitter, but i didn't give the 2b an error on a play that could have gone either way - so everyone will see things different - home team's book is official and it will never be perfect on the high school level because some coaches let parents keep the book, etc.

    Stats

When the season is over I will compile a list of stats at www.tbca.org - we have 2003 leaders up right now - I'm sure there are a few who should be on the list who weren't - but from my research and responses from coaches and fans - it is fairly accurate - we plan to do this around the end of June.
  7. very funny had to bump this one up to the top!!! E5, REDSMAN - look at this classic thread!!!

    9AAA Wednesday

hville had a 1-1 tie in the 5th I believe, can't remember - Gallatin gets a couple of hits have 2nd and 3rd with one out, they intentionally walk a guy who already has 2 hits to pitch to Grant Jones who is coming back from broken hand and has struck out twice - they go 2-0, he fouls one off, then hits a 3 hopper to the SS toward second, H'villes' 2baseman was playing way to deep to be in DP position so when he took the throw he was running across the bag - his throw was high, tipped off the glove of the first baseman and two runs scored - later in the inning a blooper double to left scored two more... in a brilliant move Coach Martin who was 0-9 vs Hville sent REDSMAN (Hunt) to coach 3b - Hunt delivered as Gtown dropped a 380' bomb in the parking lot to go up 1-0 in the 4th - Hville tied it up setting up the 5 run 5th for the Wave. I was playing softball on field 4 and running back and forth to check out the action so i didn't see everything. jd
  9. Thanks, BIZAZZ I want to add that I have recieved and continue to recieve tremendous help from HV and Bob - while we haven't met, I consider them friends and great baseball men. Coach T is a stop I make almost every day - to check scores - a lot of times I will add scores I have that haven't been reported - This is a great site. I have tried to take care of what wasn't covered by other sites - that's why with HV doing the top players in TN, I wouldn't even consider doing it - he does a great job and I don't have time to do everything and if he keeps up the tournament stuff the way he has this year, I'm going to drop that!!- CoachT covers all HS - so I cover all levels of just baseball- everyone has their nitch - if you are trying to get to the next level - hs baseball web has everything you need in the way of information - too many times people only use message boards when there is so much more....
  10. We (the TBCA and myself) started the state record book 3 years ago - the record book is a work in progress - it by no means is a finished product - of course by it's nature it would change on a yearly basis - the key is to get all, I said ALL, coaches to participate - of course we take things from fans, parent, etc - as long as there is some factual proof, I do not have time to contact every coach about some player hitting 4 homeruns in 4 consecutive at bats, or anything else for that matter - the tbca/TN Baseball Report site i run is done because I love the game and love to promote it... it is definitely not a money maker - it is a big time, time- taker however... if you know of a record, you have proof of a record, contact me at my email johndecker29@yahoo.com you must be able to prove it by having a scorebook or news article or some kind of proof plus a coach or administrator from your school contact me. So you can take the Atlantic Ocean comment and put it away - if you put in the time I do keeping up with the site - a minimum of 2 hours a day, some days as many as 4 in season (It takes me parts of 3 days {about 8 hours) just to get team records compiled for polls - even after emailing 100+ coaches who have given me their email) - for nothing - then you might think a litle before you criticize something someone has spent countless hours doing for HS baseball in TN... I don't appreciate the comment at all. And to top it off I get a few emails from fans who think the CoachT site has all the game scores and records of teams - wanting to know where I get my inforationa from - So and So hasn't played x number of games - why don't you check Coach T - I wish CoachT did have them all!!! Wouldn't that make it easy!!! There are some very nice and helpful fans and coaches who without their help I couldn't do it - and then there are those who only care about why didn't my team get this or that - very rude people - after coaching HS baseball for 14 years, I never won or lost a game based on what ranking one of my teams had or didn't have. I have wondered since I was asked by some in the TBCA to try and get a state poll started some 3 years ago - if it is worth the time - I have tried to ignore the ignorant emails I have recieved because every now and then I get one which says - great job, appreciate what you do!! - sorry to ramble - but don't complain and put down something if you aren't willing to put some time in and help - cause I can use anyone who wants to help!!
