this just in from the news room.... Tullahoma 14 Beech 0 played Friday Nov. 4... as my earlier post indicated - Tullahoma passed well, Beech couldn't stop it and therefore the Wildcats win... Beech's region was weak, they were just the best of a weak region. All the teams lost which proves the fact that the rating systems available to TN HS football are pretty much right on. Now while I agree the Beech QB is not very good, and is departure from the game in all likelyhood did not change the winner of the game... anytime any team loses their no. 1 QB it is going to change the outcome - maybe not the win or loss - but i dare say their is not a #2 QB on any team that is good as the starter.... who do you think took all the practice snaps during the week? Ask any coach and they will tell you to a man- if my #1 goes down, I am in trouble. Especially at playoff time. With the #1 in Beech may have scored and maybe even been position to do so again. What if the field goals had been good and the Bucs made one more lucky 60 yd pass for a TD??? I know it didn't happen - but with the #2 in it is much less likely.

Can the Bucs stop the Wildcat passing game? That is the $64,000 question. If they can, then they stand a 50/50 chance. This game is fairly even if you look at all the rating systems available. Beech has enjoyed much needed success in a weak region this year. Tullahoma knocked off Hillsboro but couldn't beat other teams. I don't think this year's Burros are quite the team of the last 2 years, but hey! its still a big win. Either team could win this, as usual mistakes, penalties, and turnovers wil be the major factors in the outcome of this game Tullahoma 1395 yards passing "Tullahoma's Cass Barnes has developed into one of the most prolific passers in the midstate" Beech doesn't and really can't pass effectively, but does run the ball well. So for the Bucs to win they must control the ball and not get behind. The Bucs have capatilized on turnovers to win. If Tullahoma doesn't turn the ball over and forces the Bucs to drive 70 + 5 or 6 times they have a great chance at the win.

AA has pocikets of real good teams in which any number of options are there. West TN for the last 4 years has had 5 or 6 teams that have been good. Milan, Covington, Lexington, South Side, Dyer Co. all come to mind

my suggestion is to take a $5000 dollar loan out from your local banking institution and by one of everything. then you can find out on your own. the ones you don't like you can sell on ebay for a profit!!!!!!! thumb

hville has 1 pitcher, some young talent, and some leadership problems, at least that's the word from HHS insiders. Beech's pitching staff has some stuff but this team has yet to win a big game in a few years (get out of the district tournament) If they can find some chemistry and stay healthy they have a chance. This district as in most years will 3 or 4 teams battling for those middle spots, but MJ is the class of the district according to coaches preseason picks.

Not doubting the young catcher's ability, but hey Josh Bell and Michael McKenry ain't no slouch!

Right now there aren't many great staff's on paper. But there will be one or two that develop thru the year. Mt. Juliet is not bad, Clarksville lacks pitching but has at least 6 D 1 signee's on their roster. It will be interesting to see how far they go this year. And if you can get thru the district tournament, 1 guy can get you there!

yes, the only site that covers baseball from head to toe in TN - i am surprised their message boards don't get more work during the winter - JD has upgraded them and they are as good as this one. I know he doesn't want the trash talk though. He told me at the clinic he was glad that he didn't have to deal with that. I think there are 140 team prevews up now. Great juco and college coverage as well.

Mt. Juliet after that it is a toss up Beech would have been a solid #2, but Zach Hendren is out because of injury. Look for Beech, Smyrna, Gallatin, Hendersonville, and Wilson Central to battle it out for 2-6 spots Hendersonville is really due for a couple of bad years. They have been above average to excellent since 1993.
