  1. I believe Craigmont beat Powell last year in OT. Craigmont lost in sub-state to Powell's next opponent Jackson North Side.
  2. Don't know much about Northside but the Powell Lady Panthers are coming to MBoro ready for the challenge. Look for a physical game with very intense defense from the Lady Panthers. Powell by 8!!!
  3. Like I said before, it doesn't matter what a player says before the end of their junior year, and even then, each sport has its own official signing day when it all becomes official. I think it is way too early for a JUNIOR to "sign" so I wouldn't say it really means much at this point. I was asking how the process worked relative to communication between the parties at such an early stage, not whether it means anything, prior to the senior year. I would think Cait McMahan believes the verbal commitment means something different to her and her family. Anyway, thanks for trying to answer the question I guess I didn't ask it very well.
  4. It's going to take a great leader, support and a core of players who can help turn things around. You have to have good athletes as well to change the direction of a program.
  5. I guess my question came about as a result of Cait McMahan's situation. She is a fantastic ball player and she recently committed to UT. Cait will be a junior in high school next year. I think she made a good choice and saved herself and team many distractions. Also, will enjoy watching her play for 4 years after high school. However, how does this process work? She is not old enough to be contacted by the university except under the regulations you previously mentioned. She can make contact with the universtity but no player at her level would verbally commit unless they knew that they would be signed when that day arrived. Apparently someone had to mediate the event and express strong interest by both parties (player and school). I assume the head coach would mediate that and express the level of interest by both parties.
  6. I realize that without things in writing people can easily change directions but there must be some contact between both parties. Does the school approach the player first? Are they allowed too do that or does all the communication take place through a mediator?
  7. 1. Greenback 2. CAK 3. Midway 4. Coalfield 5. Onieda
  8. How does the verbal commitment process work? Who is allowed to make contact with the athlete? Does the university go through a mediator?
  9. Powell and Greeneville both made it to the AAA final four will be loaded again next year. Greeneville returns several girls and has a fantastic middle school program for future years. Powell returns 7 of their 10 varsity players and had a JV team who only lost 1 game this year. Both of these teams should be back in the Boro next year.
  10. It doesn't suprise me that Lynn Burkey has his team ready at tournament time. He is a great coach and if anyone knows how to beat Insell, he does! Good Luck Lady Devils!
  11. Saw the game on Sat. Can't beat Oak Ridge by shooting 38 shots. Need to put up at least 50 to 60. The low number of attempts were due to turnovers off the press. Only 4 free throws in the second half against an aggressive Oak Ridge press = Turnovers!
  12. A suprise from the east will be Greeneville. Don't count them out!
  13. I think Greeneville is the best team in East Tennessee. These girls are playing some really good basketball.
