    Region 2-A

actually GB goes to CAK friday night-- Will be a huge game with region championship implications on the line, not to mention 2003 playoff revenge for the Kee's. Should be a ball game for sure.
  2. None that I'm aware of--- Good Luck Kee's.
  3. Prayers for her speedy recovery. (Keepin' it on the front page.)

What hapened to McClurg? Did he get hurt? I think tonight's jamboree vs. WB will be a tough match up for GB. Good luck Cherokees!

Anyone know how Greenback did in their scrimmage on tuesday? Also- who do they go up against in the jamboree on friday night?
  6. at the end of spring I might have agreed with you- but I have one thing to say now- NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND! I don't think CAK could post that many points on this GB team- they are too big. There is more size on this Cherokee team than in years past. There is more speed. Once these boys get some experience playing togther in game situations, they will be monsters. Look out Region 2! GB by 6!

Unfortunately, I will not be at the scrimmage. I would like to see it, but work requirements make it necessary that I miss it. I hope the boys do well, I've got a feeling with what I saw earlier this week, once they begin to fire on all cylinders, get some experience as a team (scrimmage time, game time) under their belts, this team could run the table. CAK better watch out- James running a 4.42?? That's fast. Anybody know what Way ran this summer? Good luck Kee's. Trophy- I'm sorry if my posts came off to you as negative--I prefer to consider them cautious. I've said in a number of my posts that I hope they do well, but I had considered them needing to do alot of work, or possibly having a tough season. As it turns out, they did put in the work, have spent time gettng bigger, stronger, faster. Again- I am proud of them for that, and I wish them good luck this season.
  8. Where (what school) did this happen?

I have to admit-- I have been wrong about the Cherokees. I have been concerned about replacing guys that were lost to graduation. But after seeing the team the other day-- I have to admit they look good. There are alot of guys there that have put on weight in the off season, they look good. Way is a beast, James even looks to be tipping the scales around 185-ish. The team looks to be good physically-- I suspect the season will be a good one. I am happy to see that the work in the off season has paid off, and I wish them luck in the upcoming season.

I don't know what the Kee's added-- they always seem to pick up an athlete or two. Hopefully they were able to fill some holes left by graduation. I suspect they will be ready to play- and I hope to see them do well. This is going to be a tough year, and from what I hear they spent the summer getting ready. With trips to Gordonsville and CAK in the works-- the schedule isn't easy. Good luck to the Kee's---
  11. It would be great to see the team do really well. I hope Austin has a great season, and from what I hear from everyone he has put in the effort over the summer to improve. I hope that is true-- this season he will need to step up and be a leader. I hope for his sake, for the team's sake he can get the job done. This will be a proving year for him, and for the Cherokee's--- I hope it all works out...
  12. I find it interesting that you have listed Josh Kee as the GB Cherokee's senior QB, when Austin James is the QB of Bill Satterfield's army from the Cherokee nation. On top of that-- I understand GB has put alot of work in over the summer. My guess is they will be a tough team.... with the right guys stepping up, the can be a sleeper in region 2. Watch out for Greg Way--- I suspect he will have a great season.... I'm guessing more than 1k yds from him.
  13. The reason James has the numbers he has is because if athletic recievers that can go get errant passes, and make yards after the catch. In 02, he had Irvin, Helton and Franklin. In 03 he had Helton, Walker, Morton, and Way out of the backfield. This year he has Way out of the backfield. If you have watched James at all, you should have recognized the go-get-it efforts of the recievers much more than the accuracy (lack thereof). This year will show James true colors.
  14. Normally I wouldn't hesitate to agree with you- but let's face facts. GB lost alot of key players to graduation, and plans to fill those slots with undersized, under-experienced pseudo-athletes. Retunring two good athletes leaves 9 others on the field that need to be able to get it done. I don't see that from the Cherokee's... I hope I'm wrong....
  15. I might be able to agree with you if I thought that James and Way could carry that team by themselves.... but they can't. The Cherokees lost alot to graduation-- this should be a rebuilding year in Greenback.
  16. Back to the topic at hand- Massilon vs. McKinley in Canton Ohio, fall of 2002. Sold out the Fall of Fame Stadium--- official number was just north of 45k in attendance.... the staduim only seats 35+.... it was a mad house!
  17. Talking about "big" high school rivals- up in Canton, Ohio--- there is a game played every year between Massilon HS and McKinley HS. The game sells out the Pro Football Hall of Fame stadium, and has standing room 7 or 8 people deep around the stadium. Talk about a crowd-- last time I saw that game- there was estimated 45k fans there. Had to walk a mile to park for the game!
  18. How about Loudon and Lenoir City... No love lost in that rivalry either.....

That is good to hear Trophy---- I hope things go well for you boys down there in the Nation--- But remember, it is a long season, and as it happened last year, James faded. I hope the work he put in all summer pays off-- GB will need it. As for Way- I expected him to look good. The kid has gotten bigger, and stronger. I expect 1k yds from him this season.... but as a reciever, that doesn't bode well for the Kee's, you need him as a threat in the backfield. Lane, Forrester, Anderson--- all young players, all unproven. As pappy used to tell me- don't count the chickens till they hatch!

You know what trophy- you are absolutely right--there are other sports at Greenback, and they have done quite well. Baseball has had an amazing two years (last year's district champs, and this year's runner up) and wrestling has been a strong point for the athletic department as well. I couldn't agree with you more about the strengths of these sports as well as others (women's hoops for example). But let's for a moment be realistic--- the Kee's lost a number of key players last year to graduation-- good kids, good athletes, natural leaders of that football squad. It will be tough to replace those kids-- plain and simple. I would love to see the Cherokees do well, but I think it is a bit naive to think that freshmen who can step into 2nd or 3rd string roles will be the answer. In years to come perhaps they will grow into their potential-- but as for right now........ I can only hope the Kee's can live up to their own hype. I certainally want them to do well. The athletes work hard enough to deserve it--- I just don't know if it will happen this season.
  21. not so much! those yards should get credited to the recievers that he threw to--- watch for Greg Way out of Greenback's backfield.....

not too many- as usual the varsity squad isn't too deep. Alot of iron man football from G-vegas.
  23. My "venom" as you put it isn't directed to demean Austin, or as you suggest to make myself feel better. I am just asking why it is that a QB who gets help from great recievers becomes a demi-god in the small Community of Greenback. I think this year will prove his talent, or lack there of
  24. Like I said Tracer- that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. The facts I am refering to are th ones I see when I watch practice, or see him play in a game. It is undenyable that he has a bad attitude... I've seen it at football, I've seen him do it at basketball too. And there is a big difference between "ethics" and work ethic. I am glad he is working out in 90+ heat and in the weight room working out. Good for him, and good for the Cherokees...
  25. Tracer- you are entitled to your opinion too, and that is fine. I'm just giving my opinion on what I see from a kid who has been told his whole career he is a "great athlete". I've been around, worked with, and played with great athletes. And Austin James isn't one of them. He doesn't show the work ethic, desire, leadership, or modesty that it takes to be a great athlete. My last question, if the kid is so good-- why aren't any major colleges trying to recruit him?
