  3. Snapp played JV and Freshman ball his Freshman year. No Varsity. I cannot think of any Freshman that have ever played Varsity for Dyer till last year. I am probably forgetting someone that did, would be interested to know though. The officials missed some calls, it happens. But to say they gave DB the game is nonsense. D-B is in a different league than anyone else in the Region, much less the Big 9. We played with them the first half, D-B adjusted at halftime and played good basketball. Nothing more. Good luck to the Indians the rest of the way.
  4. If I remember right, last year, the #1 and #2 seeds had byes into the District semis which gave them a guaranteed spot in the region.
  5. I agree about East being more than a one man team, but tonight's game is going to be a close one. These teams matchup well with each other. I think it will come down to who is hitting their free throws and takes better care of the ball.
  6. In other words, lets focus on D-B and Volunteer.
  7. Tn High is averaging 54 ppg while giving up 53.3 ppg. Central is averaging 65.5 ppg while allowing 68.0 ppg. PREDICTION: THS 61 CENTRAL 59
  8. Watauga teams are 3-11 against Big 9 teams. Wins by Unicoi (over Sullivan East and Daniel Boone) and Chuckey Doak (over Volunteer) Unicoi lost to Science Hill by 5. The win/loss record is skewed abit I think due to the fact that Happy Valley is 0-5 against Big 9 teams. Here is how every one has fared. Unicoi 2-1 (wins= Sullivan East, Daniel Boone Losses= Science Hill) Chuckey Doak 1-0 (win= Volunteer) Elizabethton 0-2 (losses= Sullivan East, Tn High) Sullivan North 0-2 (losses= Sullivan East, Sullivan South) West Greene 0-1 (loss to Sullivan Central) Happy Valley 0-5 (losses= Tn High, Sullivan South, David Crockett, and Daniel Boone twice) Watauga teams are 3-3 against IMAC teams and 7-4 against Watauga Valley teams. All in all not to bad. And Unicoi, Chuckey Doak, and Johnson County are very deserving of their spot in the NET Top 10
  9. ROFL I have those moments sometimes. South 65 Central 61 I think South is playing better right now, but we know what can happen if the Cougars get hot.
  10. TODAYS GAMES Chuckey Doak 62 Sullivan North 57 Johnson Co. 60 Happy Valley 49 Unicoi Co. 63 Elizabethton 58 Not every game, but conference games.
  11. TODAYS GAMES Volunteer 67 Cherokee 55 Science Hill 76 Daniel Boone 55 Sullivan East 73 David Crockett 56 Sullivan South 65 Sullivan South 61 Dobyns Bennett 61 Tennessee High 58
  12. Good game between the Central and East tonight. Central really shot the ball well. BRock, you brother played an excellent game, shot the lights out. How many did he knock down tonight? Congrats to both teams for a thrilling game.
  13. Your team is the best coached team in the conference and will have another great year. You ran into a hot shooter last night and we actually stepped up and played some defense in the 4th quarter. We rotated to the ball alot faster than in the previous three quarters and was able to pressure the shooters. However, on what happened at the end, I think it was just frustration coming out. Everyone knows it wasn't intentional and there was no hard feelings. Congrats to East for the big win and good luck to the Vikes from here on out. Well, till the next meeting anyways.
  14. Here is what I think, for whatever its worth. Your recievers are untested and until they prove that they can make plays then that has to be a big question mark. It doesn't matter what kind of arm you have if your recievers are not making plays. Maybe I'm mistaking but from what I can tell you lost alot on the line as well. So it could take a few games to establish consistency in the running game.
  15. Can anyone tell me how many teams from each district play in the region tourney?
  16. I thought your shirts had more than 2 stripes? Explains why you guys have so much trouble with a 3 and 5 count. I never said you guys were out to shaft a team. But it has happened. I agree that you guys have a tough task in calling games. I'll even agree that I probably couldn't do any better myself. But some things I would do. I would listen to a coach when he thinks I'm missing something. Maybe take a sec on a dead ball and let him know I will be watching for it. Then I would make an attempt to look for what he's complaining about. Same goes for a player. If a player talked to me the right way, I would at least listen, and look for what he's talking about. I would have enough pride in wanting to call a good game and enough sense to know I couldn't see everything to realize maybe I did miss something. But you also pointed out part of the problem. You basically told me you guys are buying a job as a ref. I don't think you guys should have to buy any equipment. It should be furnished by the TSSAA. But at the same time there should be a little more accountability.
  17. Thanks for proving my point. You guys are to interested in whats being said on here then calling the games right.
  18. The TSSAA is to coward to do anything about this. They put some guy in the stands to observe the refs, but he is either getting a cut of the game checks to not say anything or he has no clue himself. These guys get a thrill out of calling badly. If you watch them close enough, you'll see that they are laughing at people in the stands for yelling at them, then they'll make horrible calls on purpose just to get a reaction. Funny thing is, I bet they talk about how unprofesional fans are. lol Maybe the coaches should get a vote on which refs get to call games in their conference.
  19. When someone has a flaw then they usually are very self concious of it and do not like it to be exposed. I think this is the case with officials. Most of them know they are terrible. Wouldn't suprise me if instead of talking about responsibilities on the court before each game, they are going over photographs of players and their parents. That would explain why they pay more attention to who's doing what in the stands then to who's doing what on the floor. That way they know who's kid to make calls against.
  20. I don't want to say I disagree with you. Good teams can get over bad calls, and good players will still shine. However, one example I would like to bring up is the Science Hill/ East game last year at East. Omar shoots a half court shot and the ref calls a foul on East when no one was within 5 feet of Omar. He get 3 shots with no time on the clock and like a good player should wins the game. Hard to for any team to get over a call like that.
  21. I don't think anyone in their right mind expects officials to be perfect. Now is it to much asking them to get it right 75 to 80 percent of the time? A tough job in any company would expect that or replace you. And if it wasn't for the fans heckling them, then some calls would never get made. I'll admit to being one of those to yell out for a 3 or 5 second call, only to watch the official start to count. He must have been looking at the players shirt tale instead. I watched two kids go into the stands fighting each other last year, and no call was made. The official didn't even sit either guy down. But they want to sit someone down because his shirt tale came untucked. You can't put all the blame on the officials. Some of it has to go to the TSSAA. They want to emphasize certain rules every year, but do they ever emphasize that officials improve any? A few bad calls here and there are expected, and won't effect the game. But when you call a foul on a guy 4 feet from a player shooting a last second shot in a 1 point ball game, that can effect the outcome of a game. No one is asking for perfection, just that some of these guys quit guessing out there and watch whats going on.
  22. Come on, human? Some of these guys shouldn't be allowed to call middle school ball, much less high school. They don't see anything, they just guess. They don't watch a players feet before calling a walk, they just "feel" as though its a walk. They don't watch the floor when the ball is in the air, they watch the ball to see if it goes in. I guess they don't think the players, coaches, or fans can see it going in. Has anyone explained to these guys what it means to have position on the floor? They love to call a blocking foul after someone runs over a set defender. And what is with the intentional fouls being called this year at the end of games? Of course if a team is down they will try to foul. Of course its intentional. But its stupid to call an intentional foul. Then they turn around and do not call anything when a kid gets his head taken off going to the basket. Some of these guys are a joke. And for the good refs out there, thank you for trying to keep these other guys in line. I hate that they have ruined the reputation of all refs, but until the TSSAA decides to train these guys better and start holding them responsible for the call they make, or don't make, then it will never change.
  23. Isaac Snapp @Sullivan East. Can shoot it off the dribble from 25 feet with two guys in his face. Those who have played him know what I'm talking about.
