  1. If im not mistaken didnt they have this same issue with the basketball team last year or am i confusing them with someone else
  2. Im scared to know what happened but obviously it must have been bad. I hope ammends can be made because Mike has done quite a bit for the whole Cascade athletic department(not just the football team). Even when his son was 2nd string and not getting much pt he was still helping out where he could
  3. Whats wrong with them taking trips? I think its a good idea to take teams to travel its a good experience. I would have loved to go to hawaii for a bball tourney when i was in high school. Heck I know its not Hawaii or arizona but Rockvale middles bball teams are going to chattanooga for a game. good experience for the kids
  4. probably half of Murfreesboro. I ve heard people have been talking about gettingthere 2 hours ealry. not to mention that Oakland and Riverdale classes of 2000 are having a joint reunion this weekend
  5. Im sure Clarksville Academy with the reigning Mr Basketball and CSAS with their whole team returning will have a lot to say about Westwood winning it all
  6. My take: this will be a good game going down to the wire. Smyrna will slow I'tavius down(meaning he runs for about 125 and 2 td's) But Bryson will have a good game as well running for 95 yards and a td Vick will catch a td pass as well The difference in the game will be Jason Puhr nailing a 35 yard fg in the 4th quarter Score prediction BHS 17 SHS 14
  7. speaking of class I just saw where Mathers shouted out his o line on facebook. may not seem like much to most people but thats a sign of a humble young man
  8. I guess the last part of that post was aimed at me. As a 30 year old I know that the kids coming up today are a lot different than when I was a kid. Did we have lazy pampered kids of course but there have been lazy pampered kids since the beginning of time. Obviously if you are older than 30 then your back in the day is different than my back in the day, but with that being said I do know what back in the day is relative to my age
  9. what are your thought on Sheffield and their new head coach Lashawn Lester
  10. You are not saying anything that isnt true. Im not that old(30 years old) and I think kids are raised differently than I was. I had a nintendo and a sega genesis growing up but in the summer time I had to go outside and play during the day. I coldnt play my video games until it got dark when I came back in the house, and even still my step mom would only let me play for an hour at a time. whatever season it was we were outside playing that sport. We would even ride our bikes to other neighborhoods and challenge those kids to a game of baseball, football, or basketball. it was never too cold or too hot( in the summer time my step mom would fill up an old hawaian punch jug with water and bring out plastic cup and told us not to run in an out of her house) When I was in high school me and my high school teammates would go from rec center to rec center just to play basketball somedays we would just break into our high school gym to play.
  11. Jalen Smith had a couple of good catches including a td on a nice double move, but if the recieving corps doesnt step up and stop dropping the ball Mathers wont have any room to room because teams are going to stack the box against blackman. I was impressed with Mathers' backups( his little brother and the other kid #26)
  12. wow my bad lol but if you notice on your keyboard the "m" and the "n" buttons are next to each other simple mistake lol
  13. My degree says Middle Tennessee State University so for selfish reasons I want to see great athletes who are great kids play for MTSU. I dont give a flying flip about Texas or Florida or any other BCS school for that matter. If he gets the opportunity to play for a BCS school and does I will be proud of him regardless(especially since I coached him in middle school) but as a MTSU fan I want all of the great athletes from this area to stay home and help comtinue to build the program. The BCS schools arent the only teams that play good football, I guess you'll see that when MT beats Minnesota next month
  14. yes he is a Junior. and I know its been said before but he is a great kid Iwould love to see him in a Blue Raider uniform in two years
  15. Buchanan has some good athletes that came from the city school league that are pretty decent. Rock springs probably will run away with the north but Stewarts creek although small is very scrappy and will give rock springs trouble because of their quickness
  16. Oakland beat Siegel by 7 and Siegel beat Rockvale by double digits twice. should be an interesting year
  17. so after two days at camp here is my synopsis of Rutherford County basketball Middle School: This middle school season is going to be very intense, I have not seen a bad team Rock Springs is poised to make a run towards another sectional title. Siegel will stand in their way stewarts creek is small but very scrappy smyrna is much improved Lavergne probably has the best player in the league oakland and Buchanan are going to cause people problems withtheir athleticism, blackman is young but scrappy, Rockvale is deep, and Christiana is scrappy as well, My prediction: North Division 1) R. Springs 2) S. Creek 3) Lavergne 4) SMyrna 5) Blackman South Division 1) Siegel 2) Oakland 3) Rockvale 4) Buchanan 5) Christiana High School Siegel is HUGE Cedrick Willilams and Stephen Hurt have both improved they are still the team to beat. Blackman has improved tremendously. I havent seen anybody else but I have heard that Riverdale has improved as well unfortunately I havent seen anyone else play My prediction: 7AAA 1) Siegel 2) Oakland (just because of tradition) 3) Lavergne 4) Blackman 5) Riverdale 6)Smyrna
  18. I have a degree in English. I can read very well, but the problem with many of your post is that they are usually very long and verbose and not very coherent with sentence fragments. Now with that being said you seem very knowledgable about the dealings of high school sports in Middle Tennessee. Keep the info coming just clear up the presentation of it
  19. and you said all of that to mean what exactly? lol
  20. what?????????????? its tmsaa not mstssaa
  21. what? you have some of the most confusing posts.
  22. As a long time poster on this site, Eddie knows what he posts. Getting a fellowship at Michigan State is prestigious. It is understandable her accepting the honor. Players on her team should feel very honored she accepted the honor. Now lets get on to the task at hand like LHS has done with the last two coaches and find a highly regarded coach like the past two. the next coach should be an LHS alumn or somebody from the area
  23. Im willing to bet you they got it cleared by TSSAA a lot of schools have little camps and stuff for middle and elementary school kids during dead period and get them approved by TSSAA no big deal
  24. she was also an assistant at Riverdale and at Eagleville she has high school coaching experience. dont put too much stock in high school head coaching experience. there are a lot of coaches with high school head coaching experience that dont deserve many more chances to be a head coach on that level
  25. Why he was held back, is not a topic for Coach T....Those are personal circumstances. Here is my rule, if you are not big enough to question the person involved personally, don't put it on CoachT. I know you don't have that much heart. Your heart is very fictional, because you don't have one. This my email natebuntyn@hotmail.com if you have a certain message you would like me to give to Chris or one of his family members. Have a good day little boy. I didn't ask why he was held back. I simply stated that it is a huge advantage when you have a 20 year old man playing against high school kids. If you don't realize that, you have either never played sports or you're an idiot. I wish the kid the best of luck and I hope he succeeds at the next level. But when Memphis people get on here talking as much garbage as they do they need to be called out on certain issues. Most of your schools are target schools meaning your graduation rates are too low and testing is terrible which allows for open zoning which is how your coaches are able to create a "dream team" of talent. You have 19 year old juniors playing. Memphis has more talent than anywhere in the state, but you put together a Rutherford co. all star team and I guarantee you they play with you all day long. Rutherford co. has the athletes we just have zones and regulations we follow. As can be seen on the football field... our athletes are just as good as yours. I somewhat have to agree and disagree with this statement. From a pure athletic standpoint yes Rutherford County can match up with anybody in the standpoint. but as far as putting the 10 best "BASKETBALL PLAYERS" from Rutherford County up against the 10 best from Memphis and Memphis still wins that battle. People have to realize that Memphis emphasizes basketball the same way Rutherford County emphasizes football. on the same token I dont think the 22 best football players in memphis could hang with the 22 best football players in Rutherford county
