  1. What is the outlook for Giles County this year. I heard that they hire a very good defensive coach or assistant coach from Huntsville. Will that make a difference in their season? I guess he used to be a head coach at several schools in Alabama.
  2. Are there any new players to watch in 2004? I heard that CPA has a couple of transfers that sat out last year. One is the Hobgood kid that was a starter on the basketball team. If he is as good at football as he is at basketball, he might be a big impact player for them. Any thoughts?
  3. All district-all region tourney starter on state playoff team looking for team. Plays 2 or 3 guard. Any teams with open slots post your contact information.
  4. Does anybody have the results for the Stallions tournament on April 8-9-10? Who were the best teams and players in the 17 year old teams?
  5. I have seen a few players this year practice with a team, play with another team and ask if they can play for two teams. I don't like to refer to "Summer Ball" as AAU, since most of the teams just play tournaments now. Of course, if a player is listed on a roster and has his AAU card with a team, he can't play in an AAU tournament with another team. Sponsored teams seem to have a leg up, especially with players that have parents strapped for cash. They can recruit with the player or his parents not having to pay anything out of pocket. My question is this. How do some of the teams that are not sponsored handle this issue? I know that between tournaments, travel, rooms, meals, etc., a decent Summer tournament schedule can run $1000 to $1500 a player. Any thoughts? Do you get sponsors for individual players, and then let the players with more affluent parents pay for their own kid, but not let them know?
  6. I thought that most of the players went to the Travelers. Who is coaching this year?
  7. Do they have all tournament teams, and if so, who made the Class A all tourney team?
  8. You must have lost respect for your coach since it was a great coaching move by Coach Brooks to pull the ball out with Rockwood in a zone defense and CPA up by 9 with two minutes left in the half. What happened with 10 seconds left, CPA hits a three to go up by twelve at half. Who in their right mind would say that they lose respect for a team that makes a great tactical move in a state tournament game?
  9. CPA should be the Cinderella team. They were picked 5th out of six in their district by the Nashville City Paper. To go from 5th in a district to the state tourney is pretty good. Every team left will be very good or they wouldn't be there. I've heard that Rockwood is definitely a favorite with their size and athleticism.
  10. Respect? CPA was picked fifth out of six teams in their district by the City Paper at the beginning of the year, only above Montessori Academy. As far as the brackets, it looks like they take teams from seperate regions and place them in the two brackets so you won't have region re-matches. Makes sense. All of the teams have an equal chance to win if they made it this far. There doesn't seem to be a dominating force, a 35-0, 33-2 team like there has been in the past. Should be exciting.
  11. NCS03, you really don't take this seriously. I always get a kick out of these predictions. Of course, they are all very humorous.
  12. From what I have read, Rockwood has a very good 6'8" player and is a very talented team. FRA lines up four of their five at all around 6'4", so I'm sure that Summertown had trouble with their size. Temple is the two time defending champion, so until they get knowcked off, they should be the favorites. I don't know much about the West state teams, but am sure that they are very good. It all depends if the ball falls for you or not. Should be fun.
  13. I say that Temple will win, unless CC plays in a dimly lit gym. Templey by 4 in a thriller, with Cudd hitting a three to seal the win with 20 seconds left.
  14. Just wondering if somebody could list the players from Memphis that are at D-1 schools at this time. A concise list, not a maybe list. Memphis has always been the hotbed for basketball, but until the games are played, nobody knows the outcome. BTW, where is that kid now that hit 23 3 pointers in that game a few years ago?
  15. Was there a player that transferred from Collinwood to Wayne County this year? If so, doesn't he have to sit out a year like all other transfers?
