  1. sevier county 3 pigeon forge 2
  2. #2 for sevier county is Stefan Fox
  3. #2 from sevier county is stefan fox; has started since a freshman and post some 40+ goals; just a junior; also from sevier county is #14 jaime cheek; made 1st team all-region in the toughest region in the state; and should repeat this year
  4. already posted this on the ooltewah / sevier county thread, but as just an interested observer and lover of high school football, sevier county whipped mcminn especially in the first half and created those turnovers because of pressure and then turned them into points; so to me we should be saying how the bears won the game and not how mcminn just gave it way against an inferior team; but after what i witnessed from mcminn, their behavior being awful and being real cocky beforehand, i would say that sevier county was the better team last friday night
  5. will somebody from mcminn county or that area please give the bears some credit; all i have read on this thread and the sevier county / mcminn county thread is how mcminn just gave the game away with turnovers and one holding call; being at the game that was the only holding call on mcminn and from what i saw and heard after the game, mcminn was classless and should be ashamed; they taunted and cussed the whole game, acted very aggorant before the game, and acted like sore losers afterwards thrownig helmets and cussing in front of fans i was really just an interested observer of the game; not really having any stake in the game; i am from the area and just wanted to catch what was billed as one of the best first round games in the area; but what i saw was sevier county creating turnovers, by pressuring the qb and making him throw off his back foot and force passes, plus stipping the ball out and bouncing on it when it hit the ground the bears really impressed that i may head off with the family to ooltewah and visit the mall down their before the game and see hopefully another good high school playoff game
  6. well football player 89 you must be one of the many disgruntled WB fans still hangng around on these boards; please get over it and move on; your team did not make the plays when they needed to and Sevier County did, bottom line; as for the game this week, yes that is OR vs. SC (not WB) OR looks real strong and should be able to handle the Bears, but turnovers and pent. could play a factor (for both sides) any word on Gulmire's sore knee and why Blair has not played the last two weeks
  7. I agree with the posts so far, the game should be a close one. I know most will be favoring D-B, because of the past few years, but Sevier County has been playing well this year, this should make for a good contest. I have attended a few D-B games this year and just have a couple of questions. How come they have gone to more of the I formation in recent games? How will the supposed return of McCord boost the offense? And why does #19 (do not know his name (or really just forgot it)) not play play in the gun formations? Just a couple of questions to clear up my clouded mind. Roll Tribe Roll
  8. this region is stacked full of great head coaches first off; clark from d-b, brewer from sevier county, bowles from science hill, euvauard from jeff county, and the other four round out great head coaches as for assistants it seems to be pretty loaded as well; although many of their names escape me at this time, here are a few; the dc at db has always done a great job; they are constantly at the top of the region in defensive stats and scoring; although bearden struggles to win many games, their defense is always stout; most head coaches in this region run the offense, so oc's are usually the head coaches; sevier county seems to have a pretty good staff year in and year out; i believe it has been pretty stable; they seem to be the same coaches every year; and they do a nice job with not having to many athletes to work with
  9. i know that the mccallie camp had to basically shut down and the teams were stripped of the rest of their scrimmages if they played in a jamboree; i know some other teams lost five days in pads and 1 scrimmage (these teams scrimmaged before august), also some other teams lost 3 days in pads and no scrimmages; so as you can see none of the penalties were the same; and these are the only ones i know about
  10. oh there were penalties handed down and none of them were the same; there is no penalty on the book as to what the specific penalty should be; the penalty is totally up to what TSSAA feels like that day; hey that sounds fair, oh wait this is TSSAA
  11. just a few things to think on and hopefully understand; first i agree with Indian; logic, and that is a scary word to use when talking about TSSAA, says that scrimmaging against other teams is a lot safer than practicing by yourself; obiviously you cannot scrimmage everyday, but kids are at a lot less risk when they go against other teams; fewer kids are involved in practice and coaches and trainers can keep a better eye on the kids; this just makes sense; my next point is about the TSSAA; first, who sanctions them; is their a governing body that watches over them; i mean even the CIA and FBI have to answer to someone; so who does the TSSAA answer, from where i sit noone; i mean they receive state benefits, but are not under the control of the state, hmmmm that seems fishy; second, if there are rules to follow, and a rule book in place, then what are the penalties; i mean if the rules are laid out and are black and white, then should there not be penlties laid out in black and white as well; ohhh, but then this would not let TSSAA make up the penlties as the go; they just take each case one at a time and then depending on who the guilty party is, then they go behind closed doors and making their ruling; so they can decided what the penalty is as each individual case comes up; in other words tennessee high school sports are at the WHIM of TSSAA; wow that is fair also they have you state your case in front of them, but then have you leave the room and decide you fate; i thought the accused were allowed to face their accusers, but oh wait this is TSSAA (or a dictatorhsip) and where is all this money going that TSSAA collects from insurance, 50% of football playoff gates (before expeneses are taken out), and whatever they take from other sports playoff gates just some food for thought
  12. gentlemen understand that one team must be a KFL team (or so i hear) but most of all the home team must be able to handle having a game on TV, as in the right equipment so CSS can hook up
  13. db-sevier county had close to 8000-9000 (or maybe more) in 2000; sevier county was number 1 in the state and db number 2 sevier county two semifinal games (97 riverdale and 99 oakland) had close to 10,000
  14. i hear sevier county was very young last year and played a lot of sophomores; i saw them play twice last year and remember one kid in particular; i am pretty sure he will be a junior, i think his name was jake mcginis or something like that; he was big last year with a nice frame to grow
  15. hold on guys there are more hear than just clark and euverard; i agree these two year in and year out are probably the two most consistent; with db's runs to the semis and oakland's runs and state title in 98; but remember last year karns and campbell county landed the coaches of the year awards; and coach bowles has turned around a struggling program at science hill with not much help from the administration or school board; and i have a lot of respect for maynard at bearden (but like karns and campbell county make the playoffs, don't talk about it); south doyle has a new one this year so we will see; so that leaves brewer at sevier county; i think he deserves a lot of attention; hear is guy that took over 12 years ago and has made sevier county into a pretty decent program; he has made the playoffs 10 of his 12 years and 9 in a row; he and his staff do a great job with a lot less talent than most places (especially in 5A); i mean he did win a state title in 1999; so here is my list for this reason 1. brewer, clark, euverard (in alphabetical order) 4. bowles 5. maynard 6. karns 7. campbell county 8. sd
  16. everyone relax here, noone is talking about a state title or even a region title at sevier county; there focus is getting ready for camp and there first game against Seymour, because they want to avenge last season's loss; so whatever post you see on hear about players or anyone involved with sevier county talking big, ignore because they have no idea what they are talking about; and yes DRDB i agree that sevier county's freshmen and jv teams have been somewhat impressive the last couple of years, that i why there is a little hope now i hear from sevier county; and jc4life be careful, from what i hear jeff has not beaten sevier county in several years in jv and only last year beat them at the freshmen for the first time in a few years; do not know for sure, but just what i hear
  17. you again scbballfreak; i figured you would have learned your lesson last time after i wore you out, as well as many others about the clausen topic; but i guess some people just do not ever learn; sevier county a state title, well that is probably a bit of a stretch; from what i hear they should be much improved from last year; but playing in that region finishing third or fourth can mean having a pretty decent year; i know last year they were young and played a lot of sophomores and a few freshman; so they should be seasoned this year and ready for the stiff competition of region 1 5A; so relax a little scbballfreak, and quit trying to stir up stuff that is not there; stick to what you know, like all that knowledge you gathered in you awesome middle school sporting career
  18. well i guess it is time to put an end to this topic; you still yet have proved anything with your ranting about clausen; i have not once compared him to any other qbs in ut history; no he was not as good as manning, nor has anyone been; yea tee won a national title, but i believe that had more to do with MR. AL WILSON and that great defense; and yes shular and kelley were great at ut and one of them has made a living in the pros, just not the nfl; i have know idea if clausen will make it or not, but i will bet he will last awhile as a solid backup and make plenty of money, which is more than most other qbs anywhere else can say; allright enough is enough; back to the orginal topic, Sevier County has produced some fine qbs in the past and i am sure with Steve Brewer and the coaches there are working on to find some more to care on the tradition; lincoln county has produced several in the last few years also, especially with the one from last year; also in region 1 db and Science Hill have produced some solid qbs in the last 7-8 years; but locke is still the best qb/athlete that has been on many tennessee high school fields in years; and to finish up scbbabllfreak with our dispute, i will toot my horn for a minute; i played basketball, soccer, baseball from k-8 and started in every sport, every year, and in every game during this time; i then played baseball all through high shcool lettering on the varsity all four years; i started playing football in 7th grade and started in middle school and then played all four years in high school lettering my soph, jr, and sr years like most do; i started my junior and senior years and earned honorable all-state my senior year; and also was state player of the week once my junior and if you remember from an earlier post i played in colledge also; so there you have it not much, but just a little LOL more than you; good luck in the future and hope things go well for you
  19. scbballfreak, well your handle says it all FREAK; i understand your age hinders your ability to think clearly, because according to your dates on the post you probably just graduated from sevier county this year; i am i right, just wandering; so that just goes to point that your age just hinders your thinking ability; it is obivious that your outstanding elementary and middle school sporting careers prove that you are the top dog in the knowledge of sports; i mean come on those days on the courts and fields when you were pretty much still in diapers just gave you all the personal experience in the world to judge talent and know how the wonders of the sporting world works; and it sounds to me your knee injury just cut a successful career short; i mean to have no ligaments attached to your knee must mean you cannot walk know or are you still toting that ball around as an all-american ballboy for sevier county; anyway enough fun, i do not think you have to many that argee with arguements; and what gets me more is that all you can back up your arguement with is that clausen just sucked and his dad bought ut off; WOW that is some powerful arguing there; hey i bet after your successful sporting career you are going to become a really powerful lawyer, because you can convince anyone of anything; OH wait for it............. to be a good lawyer you need facts and it is obivious you have known on this topic; clausen's numbers over four years prove that we was plenty worthy to be a qb at ut
  20. region 4 fan, i do not mean to stir anything up with the acquisations about locke it was just rumor i have heard here in east tennessee for years; it could have been a misprint in the media guides; who knows, it is in the past and really of no concern anymore, thanks for the info and comment now scbball freak, you need some lessons in the finer points of football; my first observation is your handle; it says bballfreak, i am assuming that means you love basketball, so what could you possibly know about the best sport alive football; and next you were a ballboy when matthews was playing, did you actually play later in life or were you a ballboy when you were in high school; as a matter fact did you actually ever play any sports in high school, sounds like to me you are and probably still are a wanna be jock; just an observation; and for you info yes i did play high school football, and oh wait for it i actually played in college; next to even think sevier county of 99 could beat Riverdale of 97 is well insane; i would have been pulling for sevier county, but i am also a realist and realize that no matter how hot sevier county may have been that year they could not have touched Riverdale of 97; and speaking of being a realist, i do not doubt matthews ability at all, i saw many practices (which by the way tells more about a player and how things are going than most people care to realize) and his ability was very evident, but his dedication to the team on and off the field was questioned by many around the team; casey's daddy may have been a large donor and that may have played a factor, i doubt it, but who knows; but what i do know is that tennessee and their coaching staff is dedicated to winning and will put the best players on the field that give them the best chance to win; and to question clausen's ability is crazy; he may not throw as hard, as far, run as fast, or have some other abilities like some qb's, but the guy had guts and was a winner; lets see i believe people said this a tee martin, tom brady, and many others that have been successful qb's; and to say clausen had talent aruond him is a little off; yes tennesse has talent, but to say that they had as much talent around him as when manning, shular, and martin is there is crazy; remember 01 he had some talent and what happened 11-2; and last year with very little talent 10-2, beating miami and florida on the road; so get off clausen and get a clue
  21. scbballfreak, come on; kelley better than locke; get real; although i prefer east tennessee football, eric locke has been the best i have seen in years; i do not believe there has been another player like him in years; he did things that should not have been possible to do; kelley was great in the last half of the year and playoffs in 99, but locke was doing his thing even as a freshmen; and speaking of locke, will noone respond to the question of his eligliblity his senior year; i still here he turned 19 in july before his senior year; and scbballfreak noone cost matthews his job at ut; he was beat out by a better and more dedicated qb; get your facts straight before you open you pie hole
  22. did you forget 1999 when sevier county won the state; or in 1997 when they went to the semis; and how about jeff county when they went to nashville and lost to Brentwood Academy in 1996; or d-b semi runs in 1998, 2000, and 2002; so i would say that the BIG EAST has earned its name in the last 7 or so years
  23. yes; sometime in the mid-90's (i think 95) Science Hill one the region and in 1999 Sevier County won the region
  24. Shane Kelley is not the only QB who has shined as Sevier County; if my memory serves me correctly, the following year in 2000 Angelo Raga of Sevier County set numerous passing records in the big east; and the records he broke were that of Joey Matthews who starred for Sevier County in 1997 and then signed with Tennessee; Joey's senior year, 1997, Sevier County went to the semifinals and lost to Riverdale led by Eric Locke; who i must say was the most dominating player i have ever seen on a football field in high school; and just to ask a question, i have heard for years that Locke was to old to play his senior year; i checked this with the Tennessee Vols media guide when he played there and according to the media guide he turned 19 in July before his senior year; just a little food for thought if anyone has a comment on this
