1997 Sevier County. Led by Joey Matthews and a bunch of seniors. Lost to Oak Ridge and DB in regular season (by two and three points). Then lost to Riverdale and Eric Locke in the semis (a de facto Championship Game). Great team. Especially since this year was the first time Sevier County had ever won a playoff game. Was a catalyst for two years down the rode when Sevier County won the state title in 1999.

Anyone been to Sevier County lately? Great setting and the facilities are great.

Thoughts and many prayers go out to the burnett family. John will be remembered as great gentleman and a ref who respeted the game. His concern and care for the players overshadowed any possible shortcomings (none that I saw) as a ref. He will be missed greatly.

Sevier County did win the district with South Doyle 2nd. Morristown West finished 3rd and will play #6 Morristown East on Monday. Also on Monday #4 Jefferson County will play #5 Seymour. These games as well as the semis on Wednesday and final on Friday will be played at the Sevier County Soccer Complex.

Yes a missed field goal (and extra point). And the field goal was just plain funny. Many of your players and coaches (oh my) thought they could kick another field goal after the miss. Great idea kicking on first down. I guess in that book it says you can kick on all four downs after a miss. And if you happen to have a chance of Friday, watch out for the premature celebration. Students ready to rush the field and #66 acting like he is popping open an adult beverage and drinking it. In front of coaches no less. Don't believe these two things, just check out the TV version of the game.

SHS1, how in the world do you outplay three teams and still lose to all three. That I don't understand. But wait I forget we are talking about Seymour. If there is an excuse they have used it. I really think you guys must have a book on excuses. Field to wet, team to fast, team to big (bringing waves of players), scheme not right, team has our signals, I know there are many more, but these are the only ones I can think of now. If I am not mistaken, I think I read that Sevier County had three TD's called back because of holds and outgained Seymour by over 175 yards. Outplayed???????

Can somebody please explain to me why some people think you must take knee when someone gets hurt? I have never understood why people think you should do this. And do not give me the line of it shows respect. Everyone who has played the game of football (and I stress the part of played football) knows what kind of a game it is and what it takes to play the game. So when an opponent gets hit hard and is layed out, every player on that field knows what he is going through, whether because it has happened to them or they have seen it happen many times. Taking a knee or not taking a knee has no bearing on whether a team does or does not have respect for an injured player. So for all who have issue with this, need to find another sport to play or watch.

CAK by at least two, probably more. CAK has prepared for this by playing good competion all season. Cannot say the same for Carter. They have a lot of teams playing in their district, but their non-district schedule was weak at best. Teams like Alcoa and Seymour step out and play and scrimmage teams like Bearden, Farragut, Sevier County, Maryville and others. And Carter did not even play in the upper bracket of the DB tournament, like some other teams did from this area. But with that said, Sherrod can be a difference maker. But I just do not feel like he will be enough.
