  1. Notre Dame had several strong defenders this year, and they're all back next year, including super freshman Kevin Abell. Other standouts were Jon Reinert, Blake Pelton, Drew Hollenbeck and Evan Townsend. They only allowed six goals in 18 games.
  2. Rosters are now up on www.stumponsports.com.
  3. Bobby Earls of McMinn County is coaching the Tennessee team, but I haven't seen a roster yet. Andy Arnold of LaFayette is Georgia's coach. Their roster is still being finalized, I think. Hopefully Stump's Web site will have some info soon. Chattanoogan.com also might have some info. They do a good job of keeping up with stuff like that. Not sure if the Times Free Press will have anything on the rosters.
  4. King College has an excellent soccer program. I know it's not Louisville, but ...
  5. What positions do Parkins and Kirk play? Are they going to walk on?
  6. Hoya75 is pretty much correct, although in basketball this year they are supposedly having a player from Knox Catholic and one from Knox Webb since they played in Notre Dame's region. The Web site behind the games is www.stumponsports.com. Stump has a show on public access cable in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas, hence the focus on those areas for the all-star games. I haven't seen the rosters for the soccer game this year, Stump theoretically could announce them on his show tonight, which runs from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. I believe the soccer game is June 16 at Ridgeland High School (in Georgia). I think the Times Free Press sportswriter who covers soccer (Jamie Lackey) has a large role in picking the Tennessee team, not sure who helps select the Georgia team.
  7. Like Knox Catholic, Notre Dame is going to A/AA next year. They beat Grace and CCS this year, also CSAS, as well as Knox Catholic. They have a lot to look forward to next year.
  8. Notre Dame will be very strong again next year. They return many excellent young players.
  9. Notre Dame 6, King's Academy 0
  10. Pretty even game, both teams creating dangerous chances. I'd say shots were about even, maybe 1 or 2 more for ND. Goal came in the last 10 mins of the game.
  11. ND wins 1-0 on goal by Michael Moore assisted by Chris Rado.
  12. Notre Dame Web site says the game is at 7 Monday.
  13. Interesting. You have Blackman No. 7, but they were in the Beech tournament that Notre Dame won. ECS beat Blackman, and Notre Dame beat ECS in the final. You have McMinn County No. 4, but they lost 3-0 to Soddy Daisy, a team that Notre Dame defeated at Soddy. Do you have some bias against Notre Dame?
  14. Kevin was not at the game against Soddy because of family reasons.
  15. I thought Ooltewah played Notre Dame on Thursday.
  16. Isn't it possible that the Notre Dame coach agreed to not play the championship game when it became clear that Tullahoma did not want to play it, even though his team was ready to play? Otherwise, why would he have all his players show up for the match? So, in effect, even though he and his team were ready to play the game he could have agreed to not play the game, since what choice did he have. The two are not mutually exclusive.
  17. But Notre Dame wasn't looking for a forfeit, they were looking to play. Again, CCS put them in the championship game. The logic is not the same.
  18. Notre Dame did not lose to FRA, they tied. Had the game not been a tournament game, both teams would have walked off the field with a 0-0 tie. Since it was a tournament game, one team had to advance. Notre Dame did not advance; however, they did not lose. The game was a 0-0 tie. The MLS-style shootout is not an accepted way to decide a high school game but was merely used to advance a team in the tournament. CCS, the people putting on the tournament, advanced Notre Dame to the championship game, not Notre Dame. The 4:30 championship match was set by CCS, not Notre Dame. According to the Notre Dame players, they were ready to play and Tullahoma elected not to play, and the news report from Chattanoogan.com confirms that. You can see it for yourself. You should be careful about talking about the Notre Dame coach, a good man who does not need you questioning his actions. The real questions are why FRA went through with a shootout when they had no intention of playing in the championship game, thereby screwing up the entire tournament, and why Tullahoma was willing to accept a championship trophy when all they won were quarterfinal and semifinal matches. If Tullahoma did not want to play in the championship match that was their right but they shouldn't have accepted the championship when they declined to play.
  19. Any paticular reason you pick Grace? I know everyone has their opinion, and thats fine, no problem there. i'm just wondering what your reasons are for saying this, maybe you can change my mind.
  20. Game is today. This is an excellent way tp open up the season for both teams. Even more impressive is that 3 King College signees are playing in this game (Robby Miller, Jon Moss, and David Rowland). That alone should be enough for anyone to want to watch. I stand by my earlier prediction of 2-0 in favor of Notre Dame, but I wouldnt be surpriesed with a 0-0 tie, or even a 1-0 Grace win. NDHS24 brought up a good point, these are two great goalkeepers, but its up to the field players to score and not allow goals. That is where I think notre Dame has the edge. They are stacked at defense, with good players at every position, and are also very deep. Grace has a few standouts, but are weak in certain places. Two relatively even teams (and I use that term loosely). Great day for soccer. Good luck to both teams!
  21. Ok, I must not have been clear. Yes, ND is better than Sweetwater. Then I said maybe one of the 6 SHOULD have gone in, meaning the other 5, the goalkeeper (your starter) should have stopped, and didn't. That was what I was saying. My overall point was that your starting goalkeeper isn't that much of a difference maker in games to blame a 6--0 loss on a abd team to that reason. Injuries might be a different story, but you also mentioned the goalkeeper.
  22. Mr. T?? Whoever that is, it's not me.
