  1. I missed the start of the Upperman/York game last night but was just wondering????????????????Did Upperman show it's usually NON-CLASS when the national anthem was played to start the game......running around in no order, no hands on heart, and no respect for the anthem.....This is usually the case with their team. You would think that with all the discipline that their caoch requires[i respect her ability very much] that she would show the same pride and respect to our great country. This is not the only team that seems to ignore what should be very important to most American Sports teams, but I would hope that if a team from this area advances, we would show our high class and respect for the anthem. We live in a great country and should not take our way of life for granted. Stand in line, quiet, hands over heart[including coaches and staff, and be proud to be an American!!
  2. JC, LA, SC. and York[with Brown]
  3. I just heard that Jackson County has two "Dragons" playing for them this year. Is this true and how is it possible with the TSSAA??
  4. Without Brown...................LA by 20 or more. The Dragons depend on her to free-up all other areas of their game, both on offense ands defense. Iss she not the MVP of the district, as important as she is to the team??
  5. 7 State Titles in 29 years.................comes to almost 1 every 4 years..........very impressive coming from a small school "in the middle of nowhere". A tribute to the dedication, discipline and desire of the coach to develop each player to as near 100% of her potential. POTENTIAL?? Is that not what a coach"s role should be??
  6. Doesn't York still have two other starters out---their point guard and their 3-point shooter????????????
  7. Beat Hartsville----what is Hartsville's record? I was told they couldn't beat a good 6th grade team.....................
  8. How many did Ledbetter swat into the "cheap seats" in Oneida....................Oh, I forgot, they're all cheap seats in Indian Country.
  9. Got beat by 16 and it was the officials???????????????????? Give me a break. York could have gotten on the bus and left with 2 minutes to go and Oneida couldn' have won.
  10. Dragons by 12................................unless Indians PRESS!
  11. Agree! It will give the freshmen [especially Bradfield and Tompkins] a much greater role to play and not rely on Brandi as much. This "real" experience will be valuable towards the end of the season.
  12. One call here and there can mean a lot but we often put too much on that and not on 1]missing foul shots, 2]turnovers,3]failure to box out, and so on. It's always easier to put the blame on someone else and this displacement carries over to our children. You hear them say, "The refs this, and the Refs that." The vast majority of times, it should be, "If we had done this, or made that." Are not many games won or lost in the first or second quarter{if the truth be known}?
  13. Do teams not lose to teams that play better than them or because they do not play up to their potential? Do some teams only lose due to officials?
  14. Didn't play last night vs. Upperman. I heard out min. of 6 weeks. [stress fracture in foot]
  15. How are the Indians? Who do they have returning? Are they inside or outside oriented?
  16. Would love to see her HUSTLE......................she usually plays at around 60%. Has the potential to be one of the great onebut she needs to assert herself. She is very unselfish to the point that it hurts her team. Needs to stay six to eight feet from the iron and touch the ball everytime down the floor. She has the ability to use the board well from each side and could make her outside players look like all-state players if they could develop a quicker release.
  17. I was there..../my eyes and the film don't lie. She did shake hands with the York coach, then ignored the line of players and darted straight to her dressing room ---as did 2 of her players. If the LA players were booed, this also is unacceptible. We need to encourage all players to give 100% during the game and afterwards remember that "It's just a game". It would br great if the players on both teams ate together afterwards an maybe some Bonds could be formed.
  18. I attended the York LA game last Friday night [as I have for as long as I can remember] and was very disappointed to see the reaction of Livingston's coach after their defeat. Coach Smith went directly to the dressing room completely ignoring the post-game traditional handshake. Servral of her starters did the same thing. I have watched Coach Smith throughtout her career and admired her in every aspect. However, there is no excuse for this benavior. She, like it or not, is an example for all the young ladies she works with. I think apologies need to be made. I was not the only person who noticed it and even several of the Livingston fans commented on it. As adults, we sometime forget the impact we have on all those around us. Character, above all else, should always be shown in a positive light.
  19. Very true. It seems like mule-racing in India would get more coverage. They seem to do a good job at times but this particular time with so many good sub-state matchups was just unexplainable
  20. Someone from Livingston told me that he mentioned that to his team after the Portland loss. Any details?
  21. Do we occassionally forget the purpose of playing the game--to try to win. I wonder how many teams sitting at home right now getting ready for baseball would love to be in MLK's shoes[Chuck Taylor's or not]?
  22. It's now "crunch time" and the cream rises to the top. Look at the last two games and Mr Brewer of Portland has carried the honor out the door. He has played remarkable. Who could compete with him?
  23. Picked 5th, finished 2nd, Why the difference?--take a look farther down the bench!
