  1. Tracy Sloan is the new coach at Lebanon, came from Lincoln County. He should have a couple of guys that throw it well. Marcus Barnes transferred from Blackman and I have been told his elegibility is still in question. He is a centerfielder/LHP, I believe just a sophomore that is a pretty solid player.
  2. Crossman can swing the bat. Bilbrey from Cookeville will also play at the next level. Griggs and Dyer also have a good shot.
  3. Nobody has mentiond Todd Gilley, Warren County. Number 2 going in could take over as the ace. I know of a couple of schools first hand that are going after him pretty heavy. Drew Kennett, senior transfer at Siegal, will also play college baseball.
  4. Thanks, just got off the phone with Kyle Brewer and he let me know also. Thanks again.
  5. No word yet on whether Coach Rhoton will avoid pitching him on Saturdays so that he can drive his race car like we do in the summer.
  6. What time and where is the game tommorrow?
  7. Michael House from Blackman H.S. has signed a baseball scholarship to become a Buck at Motlow State C.C. in 2005. Michael is now the 8th member of his summer team, the Murfreesboro Diamondbacks to sign a scholarship. Another Diamondback will be signing early next week. The cat will be out of the bag on who and where when he gives me the OK to anounce it.
  8. David Limbaugh is the Murphy Fair of TN high school baseball, or is Murphy Fair the David Limbaugh of TN high school football? Keep up the good work Mr. Limbaugh! The guys on the field won't realize what they have in you until they are gone. Most college programs don't have or do what you do. Thanks!

Say that 7 times fast. Good job Limbaugh!
  10. There is a time and place to "put one between the numbers". That is part of the game, and has been for a hundred years, but only when necessary. You all know what I mean by this so don't go off making more out of it than what it is. However, I don't think there is any place in the game for "head hunting." That is when things get ugly. Getting hit and even getting hit intentionally are part of the game and it always will be, but throwing at the head has no place in the game my opinion. Sometimes a guy has it coming, like stealing when up 15-0 or laying down a drag bunt while up big. All that you can hope is that the guy on the mound doesn't go above the shoulders where things can get ugly.
  11. Joey's primary position is RHP. He also plays 3rd base for the high school.
  12. Joey Haston of Warren County H.S. has committed to become a Lion at Freed Hardeman in 2005. Congratulations to another fine young man from a great family. Joey is now the 7th member of his summer team, Murfreesboro Diamondbacks to sign a scholarship.
  13. House for Blackman, Underland for Riverdale. Both threw well. Lenard homered for RHS. House pitched out of a couple of jams late.
  14. Joe Raccuglia from Franklin H.S. has committed to sign with Bubba Cates and the Skyhawks of UT Martin. Joe informed me of his decision this evening and congratulations are in order for a great young man. He is the 6th Murfreesboro Diamondback to sign a scholarship. Alex Watson from Riverdale, Nathan Hines and Dougie Birkofer from Oakland have all signed with MTSU, David Price from Blackman has signed with Vanderbilt and Kyle Brewer from Grundy Co. has inked with Walters St.
  15. Morris, when not with his h.s. team, and Price will be playing for the M'boro Diamondbacks this summer. Morris and Price on the same staff should be nice. eteamz.com/murfreesborodiamondbacks/ Morris has recieved several letters from SEC schools already, I venture to say he will go to Motlow St. His dad is assistant coach there. If anybody has any contact info for Bubba Vincent from Coffee Co., please email it to duck34_aes@yahoo.com. Thanks.
  16. From what I have been told, Blackman will be in the tourney playing under Coach Brewer since greene is suspended. That is what I was told yesterday afternoon about 6 o'clock.
  17. You must have not seen Shelby lately. Mickey Hiter has that place looking beautiful and Belmont plays occasional home games there as does Trevecca. The college wood bat league has brought in enough to really turn that place around. You can play at Shelby these days and not worry about your car getting broken into.
  18. Nashville has Vandy, Trevecca, Shelby Park, Lipscomb, Greer, just off the top of my head.
  19. I think it needs to be more centrally located. Memphis may have done a great job, however, college coaches from middle and east tn aren't always going to want to make the trip from one end of the state to another to recruit. That is a very important aspect that I don't think is always looked at. A lot of these players are still looking for places to play after high school and I know of at least 3 college coaches that I have spoke with that won't go to Memphis because it is too far away. There are more out there I'm sure that feel the same way. It does open some doors to colleges outside of TN, also, so there is another way to look at it.
  20. Through 4, the Pioneers lead 4-0. I am not at the game, however I just spoke witha a college coach that is. He got the sophomore from Warren County as high as 91 on the gun, 90 several times and pitched the whole game at 87-89. Very impressive if you ask me. This isn't some post where a kid throws 82 and I am saying 91. This is legit straight from a very reputable college coaches mouth, and no he is not the kid's dad.
  21. Who is Vincent playing for this summer?
  22. Joey Haston and Will Underland both pitched great games for both sides. Haston surrendered but one earned run, despite what the papers say, could have easily gone either way, hit or error, and Alexander still hit a good pitch out of the park.
  23. I agree with what you are saying. The player would have to want to go to that school and nowhere else to take the chance on making the team in the fall if he had not spoken with the coach at all before enrolling there. However, the summer is prime recruiting time for coaches to fill holes that they still have not adressed. Last summer, we had 5 guys that had signed in the fall or spring and 10 more sign during the summer, with 8 of those guys getting athletic money. Don't ever count anybody out.
  24. I saw Hardy on opening night against Oakland and he was impressive. Mt. Juliet looked like a team that does little to hurt themselves and that will keep them in contention all year if they keep it up.
  25. That may come across wrong, in some way, shape or form, a person can stick with baseball in college if they love the game enough as a player, manager or even trainer.
