  1. This thread is about Milan. I`m sorry if it got sidetracked to BA. I`m gonna monitor it more closely. StevieRay...I think you are wrong about the Milan/BA thing though so if you want to discuss it then please start a thread on the public/private board. You`ll get lots of replies there. But from now on let`s get back to Milan on this thread. I hate Milan for the way they disrespected JCM a few years ago, but I still respect their program. I love the way they have represented West TN. I don`t care who you cheer for Milan has earned a lot of respect not only in West TN but in the entire state.
  2. Sure they may not eventually get accepted to a magnet school, but the coach of the other school has free reign to tell the kid one on one why he should come to his school with no punishment. IMO that`s allowing "undue influence". Brentwood Academy`s coach can`t just waltz into a middle/junior high school and and speak to these kids. There are a lot of private schools that get good football players just because they have the reputation of being a good football school. On the same note there are very good public schools that attract kids because of their sports. Either way....In metro areas a kid has a choice between his zoned school, his potential magnet schools, or a private school. Yet the TSSAA endorses a zoned school coach to come in and "recruit" players even though that player is not his property.
  3. Interesting that you should say "JCM unless they have qualified for Liberty or Madison". Maybe we are on the same accord here. It`s my understanding that the kids (8th graders) from a public school in Nashville had already sought acceptance and signed a contract to BA and yet when the school sent them an update letter the whole BA vs.TSSAA mess started.
  4. I might not have read your answer closely enough so let me ask this. What is the purpose of any high school coach to go and talk to feeder school junior high kids?
  5. Antwan, Let me ask you this and I`ll continue to use Jackson schools as examples. If Tigrett Middle has been a defined feeder school for JCM and then along comes Madison and Liberty which are magnet schools then should the kids at Tigrett get to only hear from JCM coaches or should they be able to hear what Liberty and Madison coaches have to say?
  6. You are wrong. It will be the 4th coach in 4 years.
  7. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I refuse to accept this! /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I`m betting this is BigG`s fault. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  8. Teague and Allen are great players, but think the fact that they both play on the same team will make it harder to win an individual award. Hope I`m wrong though.
  9. Let`s get real serious and call it like it is instead of hyperventilating on BA like you are doing. First of all BA is in Williamson County and not Davidson. Secondly, ANY kid in Gibson County and beyond could have attended Milan. Third...It`s just crazy for you to say BA had "the pick" of any county you wish to include them in. Stay with me here StevieRay...Let`s say I`m the coach at BA and you are a good football player nearby. Now how do I get you to come to BA? Do I just snap my fingers and say "Come here"? (oh and don`t forget to bring that check for $15,000. ) You insinuate that BA can just go out and get any player they want and that is JUST NOT TRUE. What is true that for years Milan could attract good football players because they had a great coach. The same is true for BA. I`ve NEVER accused Milan of recruiting good players. Good players just wanted to go there. The same is true for BA. Fourthly...I never denied Tucker was a great coach and I even said that. You were wrong to insinuate in your post that I said otherwise.
  10. For the record Liberty does have a defined zone yet can still accept magnet students. Madison has no zone. My question to you is what does it matter?
  11. I thought I would throw this out for discussion. Since the whole premise behind the public/private debate is basically a call for "fairness" then should high school coaches be allowed to visit and meet with middle school kids? By today`s rule a high school coach is allowed to visit and meet with rising freshman while they are still in middle school/junior high as long as it is a feeder school of the high school. In counties that only have one high school this might not cause a problem. But in counties with numerous high schools I can see a definite unfair field. Most larger counties have magnet schools. Therefore while a particular middle school (middle school A) may be a normal feeder school for a high school (high school A) the middle school kid also has the option of applying for the magnet school (high school /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> The coach from high school A can go talk to the kid, while the coach from high school B cannot. Thoughts?
  12. Thanks. That`s not the report I got though.
  13. bump. I figured someone from Ripley would have gone to watch the scrimmage.
  14. Sorry, but I don`t buy it. I have great respect for Coach Tucker. No doubt he was one of the best coaches in Tennessee high school history. I respect Milan football for all they have accomplished through the years. I`m proud that they have represented West TN so well through out the years. But that doesn`t change the fact that for years Milan could get just about any kid they wanted in Gibson County. Lack of strict zoning made it possible for the Bulldogs to attract kids from outside the city of Milan zone. I`d love for someone to deny that (especially Stevie Ray). For Coach Tucker to proclaim he couldn`t "bring in players" is totally misleading. I`m not trying to stir things up, but let`s keep things real.
  15. wtnoff...I heard some of the same things on Memphis talk radio. IMO this Cash is the one who should be let go. If he was in the position of hiring and firing then obviously he should have known that there are evaluation reports on employees. The fact alone that he admits he didn`t take the time to look at Weeden`s performance records seems pretty fishy to me. Let`s leave out any racial motivations. The fact that Weeden had glowing reports leaves a lot of speculation concerning Cash`s ability.
  16. Welcome back my fellow JCM Cougar Coacht Plus member with a golden star truthfully speaking but setting them straight friend. It`s gonna be an interesting season but I`m excited about the future. I`m loving how after a down year or two the Cougars are getting overlooked. People forget that 3 years ago we were region champions. I`m hoping Coach Glover can right the ship.
  17. Welcome JCM64 to Coacht. Sounds like we have a good coaching staff in place.
  18. That`s definitely not what I heard. Did you see the scrimmage? I heard Ripley could not keep up with JCM `s speed.
  19. Sorry to hear about the Elkins kid. What position does he play. Man I hate injuries. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  20. Anyone have details on how the teams looked?
  21. So I heard JCM scrimmaged Ripley today and the Cougars won by 4 scores. Not too bad for a team that didn`t have a head coach since December until this last week and didn`t have Spring practice.
  22. Thanks nooney. This is a good topic that no doubt still influences sports and education today. My post was directed at Galilee, but let me add that I have a lot of respect for him. I`ve read his posts here and on other boards. I hope he feels inclined to respond. Not because I want to engage , but I want to hear his opinion.
