  1. I think it is great that Union is getting Lake. He will help the program and add to the talent that they already have in place. Good point on picking him and Shivers up, that will be some good additions next year.
  2. GC80

    Dyer County

Does anyone know why you can't take food in there. I've been to only one game since that gym has been opened and everyone always talks about that rule. I personally dont' understand it.
  3. Congrats to Middleton and Peabody both on your wins today. I look forward to a great game tomorrow! Also I listened to the local station for a little while and then listened to the majority of the game on the internet and it sounded as if the refs were ridiculous. I don't mean they were calling against either team it just sounded as if there were some bad calls made. I don't know the truth though because I'm at work and didn't see it. Any thoughts? Keep it up West Tn.
  4. I agree. NS will be playing much better competition next year. Dyersburg has been playing some of the 13AA scholls the past few years so they know it'll be more competitive, plus they return a good group of girls. Look at all of the studs playing in 13AA next year. Almost every team in the district has a stud, WV-Bellamy,and company. GC-Dudley D'Burg-Soph post player Milan-big freshman-she made a huge impact this yr. OC-load of talent returning CC-the 2 sophs. who led them to state in 04. and the list goes on. Needless to say it will be a great district schedule and a lot of teams will beat up on each other before tourney time. Chester Co won it this year , and I'm proud of that b/c of it being West TN, but next yr 13AA is going to be loaded!
  5. Peabody lost to Middle College(High School in Memphis),who I believe finished 1st in the regular season and runner-up in district? Also if I'm not mistaken they may have lost to Halls as well. Great job guys you had me on my seat listening at work today.
  6. I don't know how the district is going to stack up as far as the standings go but I do know one thing, there are plenty of studs in this district and whoever gets out of District will be lucky. Alot of things could happen before next year. It will certainly be the best District in the state Bottom Line!!!
  7. Just a few things about an earlier comment. Yes Mitchell was in Class A and were young. Now they have one of the most highly recruited kids in the country in Thad Young. My understanding is he is a good student as well. I know that Coach Hewitt(Georgis Tech) was at Substate game watching him. I don't know what a previous poster said earlier but I have yetto see Bolivar choke in the big game, i.e. check the past few years. They have had great players in the pst and will continue to be above everyones level at least through next year. Willie Kemp is a top 5 pt guard in the nation if you don't believe check the schools that have been to see him this year. West Tennessee dominates this poll!!!
  8. Has he been at Lawrence Co? I haven't heard much about him since he left Bradford. How was his record there?
  9. You know I always pull for the West Tennessee teams at state. But I agree with what someone else said earlier, Westview and Walker Valley was the Championship in my opinion. I don't want this taken the wrong way but 13AA is by far better than 12AA. As I said earlier I am going for Chester Co at 5:30 just like I was Bolivar earlier.I'll give you credit 12AA had a good year but 13AA has you beat. 13AA was extremely successful in the 13AA/7AA challenge and has more balance throughout the conference. This was probably the best year for 12AA ever, Chester Co finally got some competition this year. Now looking ahead to next year.... Here is how 13AA stacks up: Crockett Co- State Tourney 04,Region semi-finalist 05,return 2 great sophs. Dyersburg- 30 Win Season 05,State Tournament semi-finalist, great future. Gibson Co- State Tourney 04,20 Win season 05, Lose 1 starter,Return K Dudley- Enough Said!!! Milan- 20 Wins (12AA 05),Returns big girl who dominates down low. Obion Co.- State Tourney 05,20+wins,returns great freshman class of 2005 (Future State Champs) Westview- State Tourney 05, 30+ wins, 2 National 3pt records, Bellamy and gang return! ( Big Trouble) It will be interesting next year to see who will be able to get out of the district tournament alive! These teams will beat up on each other so much I don't know if any of them will reach 20 wins. I look forward to the season.
  10. One of those losses that Powell and Meigs County had was in the State Tourney to Gibson Co, who was lead by Anna Richardson. She was recruited by many D1 schools but stayed home went to Union and lead them to the NAIA Championship her Freshman year. She set many 3 pt records at UU while there and I believe she still holds a record at the State Tournament. Other girls that led GC in the late 80's and early 90's that went on to play college ball. These were the girls who started it all as far as GC being a West Tennessee Power in Girls Basketball. Paige (Duncan) McMillian-Lambuth-now assitant at Westview Missy Herndon-Lambuth-still holds record in State Tourney FG% Sonya Wilkins-Union Teresa Brooks-Union Christy Hicks-UTM Keri Smithson-Montevello-UTM Peggy Hall-Montevello Tiffany Atkins-Ole Miss & Memphis Amy Stephens-Lambuth
  11. The county seat is Trenton. There have been several state champions come out of Gibson County in different sports, most recently Peabody girls in 2003. Milan, Humboldt, and Trenton have consistently been powerhouses in Football and surely you know about Bradford's six state championships in girls basketball. We may not be in a metro area but we're not all from the backwoods. The county has been well represented in many sports at the state tournaments.
  12. That would be great for girls basketball in Tennessee! The two best districts in AA in my opinion. The tournament would have to be played before Christmas though because GC will not opt out of the Gibson County Christmas Tourney. I believe that the touranment is the oldest of its kind in Tennessee( All County schools Involved).
  13. Dudley is the only player keeping it respectable sounds like.
  14. Your right about the delay if it continues I won't be able to listen at work! PLEASE KEEP ME UPDATED ON THE MESSAGE BOARDS!!!!!!!!
  15. They will not win IF they turn the ball over 13 more times. Sounds like they are playing very careless. No excuses though. I have been giving LA credit all year. It's not over yet, still one more half.... Good Luck Lady Pioneers!
