  1. According to the paper he did pay for the older two kids. But who knows. I wonder how far back this investigation will go. Could Wadley be involved in some of this?
  2. Ok may bad. Then the CSAS kids wore there Temple stuff to someone elses PE class and that "someone else" informed Dragoo. Dragoo did more than I would by contacting Temple first. I would have just contacted the TSSAA. Temple people should be greatful to Dragoo for giving them a chance to fix it first. If what I heard is correct.
  3. Ok wow. Where do I start. I understand why you Temple people are frustrated with Kevin Skogan, but I dont think you should be. He basically just told the truth. The truth is not good for Temple, but he did come out and say he did not pay tuition for his sons. He just asked Temple to pay him for how ever much his kids school bill was ( which really wouldn't be a violation) and the Temple administation was simply to ignorant to do that and never charged him for his kids school. Is that Kevins fault? No. Kevin also said he tried to tell the school about other recruiting violations and they wouldn't listen. I also believe this to be true. Get this. Coach Dragoo wrote the letter to the TSSAA that started all of this. Before he wrote the letter he contacted Temples principal to inform her that kids were coming into his PE class wearing Temple football t-shirts and shorts. Dragoo was giving her a chance to make it right. By what I have heard she basically blew him off and that is when he wrote the letter to the TSSAA. All they had to do was take care of it in house and NONE of this would be going on. But no, the administration is to ignorant. This story matches watch Kevin said so I believe him. There are now two violations out in the public. 1. The thing that started it all with the CSAS kids 2. People not paying bills The thing about the kids not paying bills is a huge violation. Thats giving scholarships basically. I do not see how this will not put Temple under for good. Can they afford to pay all this money? You are talking about them getting the death sentence; what if they cant afford the fines? Then they will be forced to drop out of TSSAA. Time will tell, but I hope the kids there like Sexton get a chance to get out and play somewhere else.
  4. 2 state runner-ups in the last 4 years. Last year came 3rd in a region with the state champion and runner-up ahead of them in their own region. Underachieve? I think not. Lets keep talking about basketball then the thread will finally get shut down haha.
  5. The school would need to have some sort of press conference announcing him as coach and invite the TFP, Chattanoogan, ect... The TFP isnt gonna come calling asking if Temple has hired a new coach yet, you have to contact them.
  6. Oh yeah, I would imagine he has a ton of job security. But as far as resources, the actual team he will have, and now all this mess he could be walking into; its not a great job if coaching is what you want to devote your life to.
  7. Worst job in the state. They could not do any better. Temple deserves credit for the hire if its true. Although he may only be there for one year.
  8. Seems like a good hire for Temple if it is true. They werent gonna get anyone better. I firgured they were gonna have to hire a coach dad for this year. Wonder if he has any sons who play...
  9. I really dont feel like reading the last 5 or 6 pages of this, but are there any new developments or just same old stuff? BTW the earliest we will hear anything from the TSSAA is August. The Board of Control only meets about four times a year, but it seems that they do meet in August most years. I am not sure of the exact date though. On the TSSAA website they list the Agenda and Actions taken from every meeting here is a link to that. http://www.tssaa.org/BoardofControl/bocact.htm
  10. No, I hope that if Temple cheated they get caught, if they didn't nothing happens. I can see why you want to defend your school and I would probably do the same thing, but here is where I am coming from and I think many people share this same idea. Maybe this will even help you guys understand where I and some other people on here are coming from. It is not this one thing that makes me skeptical of Temple breaking any rules, its all of the other shady stuff that has happened over the last six or so years. If this was one isolated instance I would blow it off as just stupid people trying to start something up, but this stuff has been going on for a long time. You never hear about McCallie, Baylor, Grace, CCS, or Boyd recruiting do you? No it ALWAYS seems to be Temple. Does that means Temple does it? No, but it causes me to be VERY cynical when I hear another story about Temple breaking some rules. This stuff goes all the way back to the begining of the Skogan/Wadley era. This is not new stuff. I would love to discuss some of the stuff with some of you guys personally, but I dont want to air some dirty laundry that may or may not be true over the web.
  11. Where there is smoke there is usually fire. And there has been "smoke" around Temple athletics for years. Would you be surprised if these rumors/accusations are true and Temple gets some sort of punishment from the TSSAA?
  12. If they are found guilty of the kids at spring practice and football players not paying tuition, which are two major violations, they could very well get the death sentence. Although one of the other penalties is more likley. I can't imagine this being a fast process with the TSSAA. We probably will not know anything till August. And who knows, nothing may come of it.
  13. All of this stuff isn't new guys. Stuff like this has been posted on these boards for years. That said, shady stuff has been going on at temple for years. Stuff like parents of athletes getting jobs at the school, random athletes popping up from out of area to play football, a basketball player becoming a boarding student. Students (including athletes) getting a scholarship to the University for attending the high school (which is a clear advantage public schools dont have.) Even Temple people have to admit some of this stuff looks ugly. And then anyone who visits the campus would wonder why anyone would ever want to go to school there. We will have to see what happens with the new stuff. A letter to the TSSAA (which I did verify was sent by CSAS) is one step farther than any of the other stuff from the past. If they have cheated (which i may have my own opinion about) I hope they get busted and kicked out of TSSAA. If they didnt cheat we should give them tons of credit from winning with very few resources.
  14. In football your statement maybe somewhat true. In other sports not so much. It is hard for smaller private schools to be good year after year because of numbers in football. In a sport like basketball it is easier because you only need 7 solid players where in football you need 22. But I dont think private schools cheat anymore than public schools. Very few private schools cheat.
  15. haha because its coach T, rumors are a major part of message boards. This one is no exception.
  16. Wow. Time will have to tell if all of it is true. But if the spring practice stuff and players not paying tuition is accurate, Temple will be playing for a couple state championships... In the TACS. Im sure TSSAA woupld like to make an example out of someone with all the Brentwood stuff going on so I wouldn't be surprised, if all of this is true, if Temple gets the worst punishment and gets kicked out of TSSAA. Also about some of the players not paying full tuition or getting financial aid, this could be huge. You guys realize Temple could be stripped of a state championship in basketball.
  17. I believe that same rule says you have to play for the school closest to your school. (geographically speaking) And I wouldnt think it would allow players to go from a public school to a private school. I would think the CSAS guys would have to go to Howard. Think about it, if you could send your kinds anywhere a school like McCallie would have 200 random kids show up for football try-outs.
  18. This is a very interesting topic. Here is the problem, it is so hard for a 13 year old kid to develop proper mechanics to throw a curve ball. I would argue the more dominent pitchers at 13 are the ones who can throw the ball the hardest anyways not the ones who can make it move a little. A change up is one obvious solution to the problem. But here would be my solution to the problem: A knuckle-curve. I threw it when I was younger and it was a very effective pitch. It is very easy to learn and didnt cause any arm problems. I was just taught the grip by my 11 yr old baseball coach (who was once a AAA pitcher) and then he told me to throw it like a football. That was that. Practiced it alittle and had a very effective slower pitch that had movement.
  19. Temple will not be that good next year. Two of there best three players for next year are at McCallie. They will be alright, but they will not be anything great. Sorry Temple people.
  20. But they were very good. Didnt Josh Templeton and Gabe Johnson play for a state title? thats no to shabby.
  21. Tell that to the person who started the thread.
  22. I do not think Humprey has much of a chance of making the NBA. If he wants to play he will more than likely have to go overseas. Some people are comparing him to Reddick but there is no comparison. Reddick can create his own shot, Humprey cant. Humprey is much more one dimensional than Reddick. Reddick at least had a midrange game. And everytime Humprey would dribble ot would be an adventure, you just cant get away with that in the league. Now dont get me wrong I think Humprey was a very good college player and won 2 more national championships than most people in the league, but I just dont think his game fits the NBA.
  23. Last time I checked the NBA only had two rounds.
  24. 3rd round? thats a joke right?
