  1. First off I disagree that Ricks is the best player in the city hands down. Your opinion of Carter is getting toi be flat out ignorant. Do you really think you know more than these major d-1 college coachs do not know what they are looking at when they see him play??? Who did I talk to about the Howard kids about them need juco? A juco coach. (i know my stuff, I dont just make this crap up.) And people realize there are not going to be as many D-1 players that you are listing. Basketball in chattanooga is down and how many people from chatt have gone D-1 in the last 3 year? The Skogans and Jonathan Adams I am sure I am missing a couple but not that many.
  2. For sure D-1's Philip Jurick Carter McMasters Possible D-1's Dominque Mcduffie (sp?)- has a good chance if he makes the grades Alex Wells (may need juco or might have already signed somewhere but has a shot to play somewhere) Howard has a couple guys, but they are probably long shots. I talked to someone who said they will probably need juco I do not know about alot of the young kids but these are the ones I know about I am sure I have missed a few people.
  3. Are those the grades they are in now or the grades the will be in next year?
  4. Those are all great questions. I dont think he was very happy up at Covenant. So I think he was planning on a move. Why he is changing sports? I have know idea. He does have very good speed, but can you imagine him going across the middle against a team like Appy State? The only reason I can come up with is that it's close to home. But why wouldnt he play basketball for UTC? We know they need bodies and he would get some PT.
  5. Caleb did not have a great year at Covenant, but some things may have been going on that we dont know about. I know he had alot of injury problems so that probably played a major role. He did avg. over 15 pts a game but he only shot 43% from the field, and his assit to turnover ratio was 1:1. I heard he is going to UTC toplay football.
  6. I cant believe people are getting on Carter for his two strenghts, his talent and his potential. His upside is through the roof. How many big men have you ever seen (not counting tv) that move and shoot like him? His skill is incredable. T-mac how do you say you dont think he is D-I when he has OFFERS (which is a major difference than simply being recruited by) from multiple SEC and ACC school?
  7. Maybe he will, I have been wrong before. Going to the big AAU tounaments will help his chances. I would say he is going to have to get alot better to play D-I. He is about to be a senior and if he hasnt gotten any interest yet from d-1's it is really late in the game. If he goes division 1 i will be surprised and if he ever sees the floor on a D-1 i will be shocked. Look at Caleb Skogan, he went to Mercer (low level d-1) and didnt play. Now if he would have stayed he might have but we dont know. And there is no way Hampton is better that Caleb. Caleb was a heck of a high school basketball player. But I will have to pay more attention to Hamptons game next time I see him play.
  8. Well Grace and CSAS will be the teams to beat next year in the region. They both have alot returning.
  9. How tall is he? I have seen CSAS play numerous times over the last few years and three times this year and I did not see any D-1 prospects out there.
  10. TTU is not NAIA, they cant get in until they become accredited (which may never happen.) I have heard tons and tons of people talking about temple recruiting. Who knows, I dont see how kids can live in the dorms. That gives them advantages over every other D-1 school. I dont see how the can offer any sort of discount to TTU to any Temple Academy graduate. I mean if the kid makes a certain grade on the ACT and has a certain GPA give them a scholorship but it seems like that would have to be availble to any student. This is something else that gives them an advantage over other D-1 schools. Here is my main problem. I dont have a problem with the stuff as far as cheating. I dont really believe Temple purposely cheats. I believe the Church and school are better than to let that go on. (Now if Temple has 5 brand new transfers on their roster next year that should raise some eyebrows.) But here is my main problem. I am afraid it is going to be something like the kids in the dorms or free tuition to TTU that makes all private schools go DII. You know all the public schools are just looking for a reason to have a total split and it is going to be something like this that does it.
  11. Its hard to compare now because Sexton was a role player this year for Temple (as he should have been.) We dont know if he is good enough to carry a team or even create his own shot for that matter. I dont think either will be a big time college prospect.
  12. I dont agree with there being alot of pressure. Where is the pressure going to come from? I dont think the Temple boosters are going to put a ton of pressure on him. And the Administration really cant put much pressure on a coach to win when the school is so small and with the facilities and location of the place.
  13. I doubt this. Where are they gonna get "good" money to pay a coach? I'd say they spend most all of their tuition money on important things like... keeping the school running. And also "good" money may mean differant things to differant to differant people. For instance he could have gotten a raise and still make less than most coaches.
  14. The year only applies to Varsity sports. I dont believe TSSAA even keeps up with jv rosters anyways. If whats you are saying is true why would a transfer be allowed to even play jv basketball?
  15. Im surprised some want out now. I thought Salter was the one who had trouble keeping kids there (Skogans, Eldridge, Jesse Taylor, Grouthous.) I am not familar with the coach they hired, but I was surprised they hired someone in house so quickly. Did they even look at other candidates? But I guess thats just kinda how Christian schools operate.
  16. Tennessee teams also had success at the NAIA level. 3 of the final 4 teams in the Womens tournament were from Tennessee with Lambuth winning the national championship (thats impressive.) Union, Lee, Crichton, and Lambuth made the mens tournament with Union and Crichton advancing to the elite 8.
  17. Terrence may get a chance to play right away. He has incredable range on his shot and is able to get it off quickly. He will be able to strech the D and kill a zone. He can create his own shot of the dribble and is an above average passer. He is fairly athletic, but he will have to work on the defensive side of the ball.
  18. Yeah that was a great one. I was actually a judge for that one lol. This years game will not be as gooa as ones in the past few years. If Terrance Olgesby comes down he will win the dunk and three point contest.
  19. Wow, alot of rumors on this thread so may be true some may not. I have been close to several of the situations mentioned so I will throw in what I have heard. First of all McMasters, I have heard everything from Oak Hill to Bradley Central. If I had to bet I would put my money on him staying at Grace. I am 95% that Coach T and Josh are leaving TTU. About Josh coming to Lee, I am very close to this situation and it is hard to tell if this can happen. Lee already has a paid assitant and I dont know if they could figure out the money situation. Lee's assitant coach I believe has applied for a job at Virginia Intermont. If he gets that I would say Josh would be Lee's number one choice to replace him. I have heard Coach Smith is done at Bradley Central, to make things more interesting I have also heard Coach T may be intersted in the job. As far as the Temple coaching situation will go it is gonna be tough for them to bring someone in that is any good. I say if they can get Greg Brown they are dumb not to take him. The job openings at Ooltewah, Soddy, TTU, and Bradley Central are much more attractive jobs for a coach looking for a job. Now how will temple be next year? Personally I dont think they will be very good. The Temple dynasty may have come to an end. I dont see them bringing in many more players, and the situtation as far as facities go are not getting any better. But I have been wrong before. Thats what I got
  20. Temple runs away with its thrid and final state title. Temple by 16. Congrats to both teams you have shown that Chattanooga and region 3A is still the best. Who cares if West Tenn teams have more flash? The East is bringing home the W's and the gold and silver balls.
  21. Grace vs CSAS (as long as nothing crazy happens) will be the game of the tournament. Who's going to go to substate and probably go on to state because region 4 doesnt have much this year.
  22. Thats not always the case. Over the back is over the back no matter what league you play in. Now he wont get as many offensive fouls called on him in the next level, thats for sure. But he will get more defensive fouls called on him due to guarding better players in college. And he is young, he may not even know his own strenght yet which would cause alot of the offensive fouls.
  23. There were two trips down the floor where Philip should have been called for fouls but wasnt. There was the one time where he slapped someone on the arm and the whole gym heard it and the next time he was pushing a grace player with an arm bar. He was lucky he didnt foul out earlier. It is his game to play physical and thats good for him, but he needs to be smarter and not pick up dumb fouls.
  24. He was there to see both. Both have taken unofficial visits to Kentucky and I believe both have offers on the table. Clemson was also in attendance I tihnk those were the major two.
