  1. I think all of you are missing the real deal here so try this on for size: Parents who are involved with their kids go to t-ball, soccer, little league, gymnastics, dance, church, etc when their kids are small. They meet people who are also involved with their kids and have similar interests. Over the year, or years, they talk about what their plans are. (I mean, what else is there to do during a two-hour practice.) Now, if these parents are from different areas of, say, Nashville then they are going to send their kids to different public schools. Some do exactly that. Other families decide they want their kids to go to school together. Their choices are to (1) move to the same public school zone or (2) go to the same private school. Private schools are expensive but so is moving. Choice two becomes the solution for many of them. In the long term, there are some spoiled, arrogant, druggies who end up at private school. But, they are few and can be sent packing at a moment's notice, anyway. Most are good, responsbile, disciplined young people. Now, where are all of the other 'problem kids"? They are at the public schools because (1) they can't afford the private schools and (2) their parents never took them to t-ball, soccer, little league, gymnastics, dance, etc in the first place and don't particularly care where they are now. Yes, there are some great kids at public schools, too. the above is a generalization to make a point so don't get hung up in the details. Of all the advantages of private schools the ability to do what I have laid out here is their greatest advantage.
  2. Why would anyone want this job? Shelbyville has a small student body for AAA, this past season they had the least talent that they have had in 20 years (the big freshman could be awesome, though), and no one has won with local talent since the 60s and 70s. If you have to attract players from outside the county to come in and play then a coach of the calibre it would take to replace Insell could attract those players at a lot of different schools. On top of that, you are going to be compared to Insell at every turn.
  3. I assume you are paying Coach T an advertising fee from the $125 per player?
  4. Let's add: What Makes a good BasketballMOMMY? 1. Someone who doesn't sit with other parents making a perpetual list for why their child failed.
  5. Would you disagree with the statement that Shelbyville would have never won a state championship under the current coaching staff with players just from Bedford County, like your daughter? Would the players on this year's Shelbyville team, other than perhaps Jarrell and Snipes, have even gotten a chance to play in earlier years when transfers played instead? They showed great improvement over the season. How many players like them never got that opportunity because of the "winners attract winners" mindset? How many teams across the state who played players from their own neighboorhoods and middle school programs did not win state championships because of the open-door, "winners attract winners", philosophy at Shelbyville? You are to be commended for knowing how to use talent and win with it. What else are you to be commended for?
  6. You may be right about what their student section shouted. It was probably unacceptable. But, since you are from Shelbyville it is really hard for you to know what is acceptable. In order to find the SCHS student section you will need to go to the mall, if you have one, or some other local hangout. They certainly aren't at the game. You had a great year but as the Little Man has always told you the season is broke into three parts: Before Christmas, After Christmas and the Tournaments. This year you lost all three. Maybe you can win the sumer, though, as you say.
  7. In the words of the infamous flemtone: This is America, you are entitled to be wrong. thumb and But a loss is a loss, no more no less. thumb
  8. Good response, options86. Now, what about the coach who does things right, and builds talent, and gets to their senior year only to come up short against the school who has an open door policy where all of those malcontents from all of those scenarios you mention have chosen to gather?
  9. You guys are sad. The fact that amateur, interscholastic sports is supposed to be played by students from the communities that pay for and provide for the schools doesn't appear to mean anything to you. The fact that Shelbyville teams from the 80s to the present would never, NEVER have won a single state championship with girls from Shelbyville is something to be proud of? How about all of the communities who competed with girls who grew up wanting to play for state championships but were denied by schools that made sure transfers knew that the doors were always open? The only pre-requisite is that you've got to make sure you know all of the rules on changing residence. We wouldn't want to do anything illegal. I can understand Shelbyville folks being proud. They used the system and succeeded and in this day and age of in-your-face morality they couldn't care less. I would choose to salute the teams that did the best they could with the girls that grew up watching and respecting thier programs.
  10. I agree. But if you read what he said he admits he moved in the same way but it is OK for him to do so because he didn't try to "go around the rules". Of course he went around the rules. He just did a more complete job of it which, if you think about it, is just as wrong. Regardless, it certainly doesn't make him any better than the parents at Cheatham County. Just more thorough. The fact that both players, his daughter and the Cheatham County girl, cheated their former teammates out of a better season is totally overlooked, it seems.
  11. Then the only difference between the two of you is that they got caught and you didn't. What is the moral difference between the two of you, then? Are you not as guilty as they are? You went around the rules, too, but you knew to change your mailing address and turn the phones off. I fail to see how you can pass judgment here.
  12. ..if you have been around for three years, rarely post, but read the boards every day.

    RED CARD

That is why you hear 20. A yellow card will eliminate 19 of them.
  14. Hopefully only fans who attended the state tournament and actually saw all three teams play will vote but there is no way to know. So, vote!!
  15. A suggestion from an observer: if you want a new coach who knows the difference between a basketball and a hockey puck you will get behind this team and support them for the rest of this season and quit all the bickering. The time for that is now past.
  16. I think my example was perfect. MBA recruits and JCM doesn't. MBA gives financial aid and JCM doesn't. CPA draws from 100s of thousands of people and selects who they WANT and Collinwood draws from 100s of people and takes what they GET. JCM could never beat MBA in their best years. Collinwood can't beat CPA in their best years. JCM will never have to beat MBA. Collinwood should not ever have to beat CPA. Yep, perfect example. not even worth a response! Thank you from all of us. Feel free to make that your standard response in the future.

  18. Collinwood having to beat CPA, DCA and Boyd would be like JCM having to beat MBA, Brentwood Academy, and McCallie- every year. They would not stand a chance- EVER!
  19. Reverse psychology from an Ezell fan, huh.
  20. Occasionally there are regular old upsets in this game called football. Cloudland should have won but didn't. An upset. Being that Cloudland is graduating the best senior class they have ever had, and CAK is only in their 3rd or 4th year of existence, CAK will most likely be the favorite every time they meet in the future if the current system stays in place. Look at the single A bracket: 10 out of 16 teams remaining are private. There are only 16 private schools in ALL of 1A yet 10 are still in the playoffs. Now, you were saying?
