  1. If you want to see jumping up and down then let this happen to Riverdale in football, or Maryville in football, or Farragut in soccer, or Shelbyville in basketball, or a lot of AAA schools in baseball, or Ezell Harding in softball, or USJ the year after they win the title, or any other school in the state the year after they win the title. No one will jump up and down, either, if it was St Benedict or Clarksville Academy and they were 10-15 on the season.
  2. Interesting comment from a tennis player. I can hear it now- "My shorts are cuter than your shorts." or "My racket cost more than your racket."
  3. The players, parents, and fans who stuck with the program down there instead of bailing out are to be commended.
  4. Congratulations to MBA on a top-level facility. I am glad they are able to do this and hats off to the alumni that made it possible. Having said that, those of you who think that public and private schools should be competing equally on all levels are wrong.
  5. NFL-style playing field donated to MBA Sam Jackson would describe himself a traditionalist when it comes to high school football. The Montgomery Bell Academy director of finance and operations says he has always looked forward to football Friday nights and seeing the rich, green grass field, complete with its meticulously painted white lines. But at MBA, tradition has given way to technology. The Nashville private school has a permanently lined, NFL-quality football field, one that comes with a price tag upwards of $600,000.
  6. So if your kids had not played sports, or had more free time, you would have turned them loose at the mall? Could church, or school activities, or volunteer work, or a part-time job have helped fill that void? It is either sports or the mall or Raves?
  7. Get a game film of your next game, add up the ref's mistakes reffing and your mistakes playing, and see who made the most. Then maybe you will start paying attention to your game instead of his calls.
  8. If you started a football program at a small school, would it be successful quicker if it was a private school or a public school, and why? Chattanooga Christian School To Begin Football Program
  9. Looks like it already is. Don't worry. No matter what the changes, you'll find a way around them. I have met some really great kids over the years, through softball. What a difference they could make in the important things if only they had time.
  10. By looking at the schedule of one of our top midstate teams it is easy to tell how much cutting the number of games from 36 to 34 would probably ruin the program. Especially since, as of today, they have already played 34 games since opening day and by Saturday night that number will be at 38 and climbing. 11. Come on, guy. This is not world peace, or immigration, or even Iran's nuclear weapons program. It is girl's basketball. Just play the game.
  12. CoachT is not free. Someone is having to pay for it. But, regardless of that, if you have never been a Plus member then you have no idea what you are missing. All you see is the "free" stuff. You must be a democrat.

If she wanted to go elsewhere then you didn't lose anything. She would have been no help to you anyway. Wish her well and move on with your own program.
  14. Just what you need, get the parents more involved down there.
  15. It is sad that you can't compliment a TEAM without subtlely, knowingly, and therefore maliciously putting down a player. That makes your compliment very insincere.
  16. 12-4 this year. 30-3 last year. Wish I had some of her problems. Wait. Maybe her problem is outsiders looking in.
  17. What a team player you are! What number is your son, anyway?
  18. I agree and say that we should add Knox Catholic to the list for scoring 70 points tonight against Claiborne Co. I'm sure all would agree that if 13 TDs is way overboard then 10 is at least a little overboard.
  19. I seldom post but read a lot of interesting threads from all over the state. It is certainly worth $12. Almost every other state has sites nowhere near as good as this that are $100 annually. Come on guys. Step up.
  20. There you go, getting hung up on the details. Yes, if the problem kids are not at the private schools then they are at the public schools and in much greater numbers. Why they are there is a generalization, there are many other reasons, but in the context of the earlier portion of my post you should have been able to understand my point.
  21. Harris and Liberty have both had some good teams and good players over the years. How many of them are on the team at Shelbyville? They have had a great varsity program, with players from all over the place, but how many kids are in this "awesome program"? How many freshman games, and jv games, were played last season? Is that why players from toher communities who are ready to play now have been encouraged to join this "awesome program"? Is it not obvious that AAU, which may or may not include local kids, is the real feeder program for the high school?
