  1. Hey HHS Momma-- Lets stay consistent... In one thread you stated that the only reason Austin played was because his Dad was a coach...Then in another thread you say it is all about talent... Hmmm....seems favoritism is only when playing time is against you and yours but it is all about talent when it is in your favor....By the way... I do believe Troy is a very talented athlete... Lawson was a good QB as well... Hendersonville has been hurt by the creation of Station Camp. It has watered down the talent pool. By the way... Robert Carolton is an excellent running back.
  2. I agree with HHS Momma about not being able to keep secret practices under wrapps... There is no way to keep something like that out of ear shot of every rival on HHS schedule. All it takes is one disgruntled player and the jig is up. I disagree with HHS Momma's coaching abilities. Apparently talent is not the only factor. Edward is one of the top Running backs in the State and he is not getting the touches he should be. Now, maybe there is a factor we do not know about, an injury or something. Coach Hatfield has taken two teams to the state Championship and he is a class guy and football saavy... Something is up on the Edward situation. I still say Rocky is the better quarterback talent wise. An interesting observation by a local sport's guru.... Troy is the more disciplined player when it comes to running the system. Rocky tends to run wild at times and gets away from the HHS offensive disciplined system that has been so successful...The Troy VS. Rocky debate is very interesting. Most teams do not have the ability to have such a debate.
  3. All I heard in the preseason was how deep H'ville was at Half back and Fullback...Now, Rocky has to play at Halfback...seems strange to me... Not only that, He fumbles once against Beech and we never see him again.... Doesn't seem that H'ville was trying to put their best together. He is the better QB. He just doesn't come from an old Hendersonville family who supports the booster club like other players families do....
  4. Thetotaltruth is telling the total truth when he states that a former player is telling people that H'ville practices in pads in the fieldhouse during the summer. I have heard the kid make this statement as well, although I do not think he is out and out being dishonest, I feel that he might have his time period confused. Coach Hatfield is too honest to pull this crap. I do believe that Rocky is a far superior QB than Troy Watson... Troy is a good player and is strong in many positions but he is not as good of a QB as Rocky Smith. Hendersonville has always been known for their good ole boy network where if you are old Hendersonville then you get the advantage. Troy comes from an old Hendersonville family that really supports the Commandos and Rocky is relatively new to the school.
  5. Hey H'ville fans.... Is Rocky Smith hurt or did Troy Watson beat him out as number 1... Can someone enlighten
  6. Golden Tate--JPII There is absolutely no doubt that he is the best wide receiver in Middle Tennessee. Even when he is double and triple covered, he always manages to come down with the ball. This kid is something special and is fun to watch on the field. Let's not forget his running back, defensive back, or special team skills either...This kid is the best. And let's not forget that Golden's freshman year, there were 0 seniors on the team with 4/5 line positions being sophomores...And he still managed 20 td's
  7. Can someone tell me if Rocky Smith played at QB against Beech? If not, then why didn't he?
  8. Can YOU Admit JPII is a Superior Football Team?
  9. How did OHS do against JPII last Saturday? What was the end result
  10. Hey Football Fans - Lets check the date on this game... I believe JPII plays Greenbrier on the 19th.... The Holy War takes place on the 26th of August...Father Ryan fans are welcome at the stadium on the 19th .... Just bring your $5.00 and wear your Navy and Gold.... You will have the opportunity to wear that God Awfull purple to the stadium on the 26th... Truly ... this game is going to become a midstate rivalry unmatched by any other two schools.... Including MBA V. Father Ryan... The game is going to be televised this year. The atmosphere is going to be huge with plenty of tailgating and pep rallying before the game... Alot of pride on the line....The stadium will be packed(but at least we are allowed to play games after dark). Parking is going to be tight.... but what fun it is going to be.... Good Luckto both Schools and actually The JPII kids just barely hate the Ryan Kids.
  11. Whitey, I tried to be nice... the fact is... you obviously do not know crap about soccer if you think trying to get a long ball every offensive possesion is dominating play. The fact is your team never put more than 2 passes together the whole night. A defender would get the ball --send it to mid field -- mid field would boot it and hope one of your guys got there.. If that is your idea of domination then it is definately time for you to try baseball 'cause you do not recognize the game of soccer at it's finest... Good Luck -- you are going to need it.
  12. Whitey... I attended the game that you have referenced and know of some of the actions you have explained... 1) Yes the goal keeper did take down the man in the box from behind and should have been red carded... He was not coached to do that... He is not a select player... he is in fact a recreation player that has been drafted to play goalie. He panicked as he got beat and reacted. I assure you there was no malice intended. 2) I believe the card count showed your team having a few more cards than the other team. All in all I thought it was a very good game and was not a dirty game. the only thing that maybe was malicious was a takedown from behind by one of your players that was carded. 3) The foreign coach you are talking about is in fact the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs at the school and a Sophmore History teacher... He is a class guy who played professional soccer in Germany for several years... Was in the Royal Air Force and played Soccer For the RAF for nine years. He has been a educator in the U.S. since 1984 and has coached club, high school, and rec for a number of years. He does not teach players to pull shorts or jersey's. 4) Yes .. There is a player who pulls shorts and jerseys...I do not know why he feels it neccessary to do this. He is an outstanding player. I think he picked it up playing select on a very high level where everyone does it. Does not make it right. 5) Obstruction A very hard call to make...If the player is in fact playing the ball and happens to block the opposing player ..so be it.. If he blatantly blocks and is not in line to play the ball it is obstruction. Outstanding defenders, such as you went against on Tuesday night, no how to use their bodies in a legal and fair way to gain advantage over a forward. Yes, coaches teach this technique. I thought your team played an outstanding game...You had several great shots that did not find the back of the net. The other team did not finish about twenty scoring opportunities as well. Accept the game for what it is and be proud of what you accomplished. The ref was not the difference in the game and both teams played hard and clean soccer. If you thought that was rough or dishonest you need to go play baseball.
  13. A very reliable source in Hendersonville has reported today that Super Sophmore Daniel Kelley from Hendersonville has a National Team call up for April. As the story goes... He just returned from Brasil with the Region III team where he performed brilliantly... The National team coach called him at home last night and asked him to play with the team in Ireland in April... None of this is confirmed from the Kelley family but the story is believed to be true. Hendersonville will miss him but they have many other playmakers as well. Coach Plummer is said to be very supportive of this move for Daniel.. Good for coach, such an unselfish and class move on his part.
  14. The scouting is complete...All data has been acquired and inserted into the crystal ball. The following is the way the season will play out. DII Middle: 1) BGA - No one talks about BGA but they have the most talent in the region. 5 strong TNFC 88 players plus Taylor Preston ( a transfer from Page or Centennial) from TNFC 89 and you have an outstanding team... BGA just stay quiet like you have (if I were you I would have talked all kinds of smack when people talk about everyone you lost and how weak you are) and show everyone on the field...People who know Middle TN soccer are not taking you lightly. 2) Father Ryan - Very young last year yet very competative at the end.. 3) BA/ MBA / JPII tight race for the number 3 spot... Look for JPII to have a sub 500 regular season but to learn from their competition and turn it on in the tournament at the end. Like Father Ryan did last year - start slow and build with the year. MBA has the best goal keepers in the region. Probably the top 3 keepers in the region. JPII would love to have MBA #3 keeper Trey McMinn to start for them. BA is always strong.. 6) USN - lost several key players but has really strong coaching - could move up into the mix with MBA/ BA/ JPII 7) everyone else....No competition below the top 6 do not even know if college heights, middle tennessee Christian are even fielding teams. Bell Buckle Webb and SAS do not pose a threat.
  15. JPII schedule is extremely tough... That is by design... Coach wants to push his boys...Does not expect to win every game but wants them to learn to compete with the very best... JPII is missing one of the most consistent winning programs from the schedule... H'ville... sure wish these two teams could play... JPII could learn a thing or two... Both teams boys know each other so well...Would be alot of fun.... Coach Plummer give Coach McClaren a call and lets get this scheduled for next year. It would sell out Drakes Creek Hendersonville stadium. You guys would make a fortune. It would be the start of a fun filled rivalry... LET'S PLAY BALL !!!!
  16. Cookeville and soccer just do not go together... You talk about these great sophmores who have played in Brazil and worked out with the U-17 National team (under the thread best Sophmore class) yet no one in the ODP/ Division 1 Select Club team world seems to have ever heard of these kids... do not recall Cookeville being at Division I State Finals last year nor did I see them in Austin Texas at Regionals... Did not hear of these kids making the ODP Region Pool for Region 3, which by the way which goes a long way in determining who is on the National Team... did not hear about Manny Sanchez, the TN Soccer Executive Director, trying to get these great players on the TNFC 89 or 88 teams that dominate State play or out for The State ODP pool. Yea, they must be way to good to represent their State.... But Cookeville is always at the High School State Tournement, oh my bad, wrong about that as well. Good Luck Cookeville, I am just giving you a hard time. I am sure those kids are as good as you say they are...
  17. Christian Brothers appear to be loaded yet again... MUS will be tough... McCaully and Baylor will definately represent well. Middle TN seems to be a little down this year. BGA lost alot of players...Do not know much about BA..could be a dark horse...USN used up all of it's luck with it's outstanding run at the end of last year. However USN does have a great coach. MBA is stacked at goal with a great Senior, Junior , and Sophmore goalie. Their field players aren't great but they aren't bad either. They hustle and are smart. Father Ryan seems to be the cream this year... They were young last season and really came on at the end of the year. JPII has a Senior class this year...It consists of two full time players and two good part time players... JPII loaded with tough and skilled Juniors and Sophmores... Loaded with club players TNFC 88 and 89 are represented by 5 players who all have gone to regionals. TUSC 87 thru 89 have a bunch of players. Field player playing goalie. Lets see what happens... Let the Games begin
  18. I love this time of year... Everyone has such high hopes for the upcoming season and everyone always leaves Hendersonville out of the picks for the top AAA teams. Well I am not going to start beating their (H'ville) drum and I am not an H'ville supporter but.... They are loaded this year with Juniors and Sophmores who are outstanding. No, I do not believe they will win state but they will be at the tournament. They consistently beat Clarksville and Rossview and all we hear about is Clarksville. LET THE GAMES BEGIN
  19. Red Barron JPII played glencliffe last year and have played ravenwood and Creekwood this year as well as last year. The boys played at glencliffe last year and that was a learning experience for them. They saw speed that is not there week to week. I saw Glencliffe vs. Hendersonville and thought they looked pretty good. They hung in the game until the fourth quarter. Too much Edward Sawyer for them though. I think it depends on the first couple of defensive series for JPII. If they hold Glencliffe the first two or three series and the offense can move the ball... JPII game. If Glencliffe hits a couple of big passes early... it could get ugly. Glencliffe handed it to Beech last week. Mike Isaacson and Chuck Woolsley are out and that hurts....We will see
  20. Patagonia, Using your twisted logic - then JPII should win State... Baylor lost to Centennial 3-1 JPII tied Centennial 1-1 Baylor tied GPS 1-1 JPII beat GPS 3-0 Baylor tied ECS 0-0 JPII beat ECS 3-0 Now you know as well as I do you cannot compare previous games or early season games to determine outcomes of playoff games. Now comparing the above games you would think that JPII would walk away from Baylor. We both know that is very unlikely. Injuries have decimated the JPII team. I have not seen Baylor this year. Baylor is always a great team. I have seen Father Ryan several times. They dominated Hendersonville, JPII, and several other traditionally powerful Nashville area schools. If Baylor wants to go into the match thinking they will walk on Ryan like earlier in the year...then go ahead... I believe that would be a huge mistake. It pains my heart to give kudos to Ryan... However, I have to call them like I see them and Ryan is the absolute best team I have seen this year in all classes and divisions to include Franklin, Brentwood, Farragut, Hendersonville, JPII, Centennial, etc.. etc.. Good Luck to all participants... It will be a great tournament...
  21. Father Ryan has been the most impressive team that I have seen... They handled a strong JPII team before there were injuries. Father Ryan wins State. Fast, Strong, and quick with ball movement. Good Luck to JPII and Father Ryan
  22. Patagonia You obviously are not familiar with JPII's season are you... They have beaten or tied alot of very impressive teams this year. The lone nemesis is a team that no one is mentioning and one I believe will win State... FATHER RYAN WILL WIN DII TITLE THIS YEAR JPII has played the majority of the season without Megan Forrester All-State last year as a Sophmore Torn ACL Britta Roach and Lora Holtzmer are both injured - both starters from last years runner-up team. Annie M. is no longer on the team - a starter from last year. Young girls steppin' up to keep the program moving along. I feel like JPII will struggle at state this year... Theyn will come back stronger than ever next year.
  23. Congratulations Knights--The best first, second, and fourth quarters I have seen you put together against a quality opponent. The third quarter was terrible. Webb did not do it to you, you guys tried to give it away. Great Credit to Coach Brothers for getting your heads back into the game. Jay Wilson and J.L. had great games on the line tonight opening up huge holes for Brian Sneed, Chuck, Courtney , and of course Golden. The pass from Kyle Bagwell to Golden for the first touchdown was beautiful. Guys-- This was a GREAT win for the young JPII program. By the way J.L. where are all of those Webb people who stated -- I saw you play Catholic and they were way better than you. You were lucky to only lose by 14... Well - I say, I saw Webb play JPII and Webb really was lucky only to lose by 12. Take away the points JPII handed to them and this is a shutout.
  24. I have three players I love to watch paly the game 1) Golden Tate at JPII. He can score at anytime during the game from anywhere. It may be from the defensive side or a punt return, from the receiver poasition, or as a tailback. Very exciting and very fast. 2) Brian Sneed - JPII - The kid is not very big but he will hit someone. I personally think he hits too hard and is going to injure himself. Plays with so much heart. 3) Chuck Woosley, JPII, An excellent talent with quickness and desire. Great tailback. Honorable Mention - A Kid who is playing excellent defense and has come from out of the blue....Billy Vaughn... Very valuable on the defensive side of the ball and playing with guts
  25. baidad Division II is exteremely strong this year and was last year as well. Top teams in the state rankings in all classes this season have included Father Ryan at #1- JPII at #4 -- throw in St Agnes, GPS, Baylor (as always) then include BGA, St Cecilia, and Harpeth Hall, I think you find a wealth of talent to be coached... A relatively new coach in the Tennessee area that is making a name for himself is Mike McClaren at JPII. He has coached in Virginia and Arkansas at both the club and High School level. He played in the German professional leagues and for the RAF Soccer team for a number of years. He definately knows the game and does quite well teaching the game. He took the JPII girls in the very weak division II to the State Championship game last year with no Seniors and their first year of varsity competition.
