I'm not defending Fulmer. With that said, Tennessee has to look outside the state. There are roughly 300 high schools in Tennessee and out of that on average only 10 to 15 players each year that have the ability to play D-1. Florida, Alabama, Georgia have double the number and sometimes triple the number of schools. With Scholorship limits schools now look to fill holes. Tennessee has not had a good TE since Whitten left for Dallas. Thus they are looking at Smith. They had large group of running backs on scholorship when Stewart was in the recruiting mix and if i'm not wrong I think they wanted him to play defense. With that they cannot just take a chance on a local kid. The sad fact is that all of the players seniors down to freshman on offense have not improved ffrom one year to the next. That's coaching plain and simple.
