  1. So, What's the word? Anybody know?
  2. Willie, Coach Pearl and we as Volunteers need you!!!!!
  3. The only way to prepare for the Saturday night beating is a Maryville victory over WB on Friday night!!
  4. Well, I disagree. Caylor has proven he belongs in the middle, night and day faster than Valentine. Lawhon still does not look 100%. So let the coaches put them where they fit in best. Hard to argue with the results so far. Oh by the way Maryville by 17 to 21 if Burnett gets the greater share of the snaps.

    Fall Softball?

A little quiet. Does anyone know how some teams are playing or there records?
  6. How many World Championships do they have compared to WB's football State Crowns?
  7. Football no, Maryville by 14 or more. Basketball no, Maryville got a transfer from Mo East who can shoot, Kent Basile. With that and all the hight, Maryville wins both contest's. Baseball will split the regular season. I'd give the advantage to WB if Coach P. does not out coach himself, he did last year!!
  8. I have to disagree with you on the field. half on the endzone did not have grass untill late August and down the middle the grass is very thin. After tonight it will be even worse for the remainder of the year. When they top dressed the field a few years back they did not use enough sand, thanks Jerry for saving a buck and the field gets harder and harder to grow grass to last an entire season in the middle. MC's field was done at the same time and looks great. Maryville should have spent some of that money on the field knowing how much more it gets used than MC. Back to the game, even closer now, I got this weird 1977 feeling. However in GQ we have faith. MHS 14 Powell 10
  9. If powell can contain Tallent and Maples they will have a good chance in pulling off the upset in a low scoring ball game. Rebels 14 Panthers 10
  10. Maryville? Powell? Homecoming? Wow, that made some deep dark memories come back to light. 1977 Maryville Homecoming undefeated, Ted let's us wear black on black, the first time I can remember. Well we lost to Powell 10-7. Rember history so we don't repeat it. And for God's sake get rid of the Red jerseys, NOW!

    Fall Baseball

There is some travel teams, but play is mostly in Florida, Texas and California. Not much around here. Ther are plenty of showcases however, Perfect Game and most universitys will have a showcase in the fall.
  12. You are correct, JD played for me this summer and will at MTSU when the fall semester starts. Should do a lot of pinch running as a freshman.
  13. Yes congrats to the team. Penley plays for MHS now. Lambert, Campbell and some others have never tried out, and one other will not use his name has been cut 2 years in a row. Do not know if he tried out last week. I left off Canell, he made the school team as a sophomore. point here is why on earth do they not try out for the school teams.
  14. seymourbsbll19, Are you guys playing at Hertiage this weekend?
  15. What age group. Thunder is not having a 17u team this summer
  16. If they hit like they did Wed. they willbe on to the fling. Pitching is not the problem
  17. Having a wonderful year. Showing no Ill effects from the sholder injury. Some college is going to get a steal.
  18. Not sure, but Powell will role!
  19. Another sore spot. One is in the works. They are going to be built at the middle school where the old outdoor cage was. Money is the current issue!
  20. Okey, ThTh and FB. To hit on a couple of points. Here is a list of talent from Maryville. J. Merry, D. Calkin, B. Burchfield at Carson Newman, A Rouse now there after leaving Baseball for Football. Lambert, Bott, Burns,Watson at MC are going there. D.Parker and K. Hodges, Jacob Holt, Derrick Rang, Dustin Lindsey. now that is a lot of tallent. Not all are still playing for whatever reasons. I've been around over four years and We have benefited from some great tallent. No teams around east TN have a all freshman team. I'm aware of the young man going to WB. It will be tough for him down there with who is playing in front of him at that position. I know of one WB player who might be transfering to Maryville. The current situation is this: The tallent level in Maryville is down way down to where it was. 8 out of 10 seniors in the 04 class chose to continue their careers in college. The 05 class will be lucky to get 2 out of 5 not counting Cade. The 05 seniors struggled in a bad way. Anyway As I have said before, The coaches, players, parents, AD need to come toghter. It looks to be a rocky road ahead.
  21. Where Are the kids that were on the team Varisty and JV playing at this summer? just curious? Just wanted to add somthings to that has already been posted. This years team was 13-21. One team that Maryville beat had a winning record. Cleveland went 22-12. Maryville won 4-1. The combined record of teams Maryville beat was 38-86. Teams that they split with WB, Heritage, and McMinn Co. had combined records of 28-38. Teams that beat them had a overall record of as this morning 260-68. Of those teams 7 are still alive in Regional play. Also Clinton is still alive who Maryville crushed in a scrimage. I know that don't mean anything. These are just numbers. A look inside shows that many things did not go the Rebels way. One starter and leadoff batter is lost for the season before it starts. All seniors have a tough year except for Cade Thompson. One pitcher who has winning record and low ERA leaves the team in mid season. These issues lead to alot of lineup changes. Losing two pitchers is tough. On the flip side this gave way to good performances from Senior Stephen Cherry and Junior Aaron Gaylor. Both had tough one run losses and not a lot or run support during the year. Stats show that Maryville had their chances this season but seldom had a key hit when they needed it. . Team batting average was below .300, rough for any league. team ERA above 3 not awinning combanation. Not defending anybody, but it's easy to coach from the bleachers. That being said In order for Maryville to get to where the parents and teachers, coaches want to be Fundental changes need to occur. Little League is fun for kids and they do learn some things. However they must continue to learn as they progress through the junior ranks. A little league and junior league all star does not guarentee a High school All-American. Where these kids play at during the summer is crutical to there sucess. Only a few saw pitching this spring that they were used to, facing it in the summer. The others who played around here at Maryville and Eagleton did not see a Ryan holland, Tony D.,Jeffery Lockwood, Jubal Duncan or Rod Capannio. It showed all year long. Good luck to the Rebels, a bunch of good kids. I know each and everone of them and wish for them the best.
  22. What I was saying is that if Cade had been witha good summer program, went to some camps, he would have been a D1 baseball player. It was a rough year for everyone associated with, or watching the program.
  23. All I want to say is cograts to Cade Thompson, The ole ball coach needs to keep tabs on him or he would be a great 3rd base for the game cocks!!!! Scary if he had applied his training to Baseball and not Football, WOW!!!!
  24. Shoud have won again on Tuesday. Charlie out coached his self in the end.
