  1. Kori Manes is awesome. I love you kid. Have a great time at school next year! Congrats to Bradi and Lisa too!!
  2. Yes, the last time that Farragut went to the state tournament was in 1999, when they got 4th, and the year before that they got 5th. But we are a whole new team this year. I think we have the talent to contend with some really good teams.
  3. I agree with your picks. I would have picked Cumberland County for AAA had they not gotten knocked out. I think that that are a few teams that could go further than expected if they only draw the right opponents....
  4. Did they get to play the second championship game tonight? Who won??
  5. Lisa Fekete is an amazing player, and I am proud to say that she is my teammate. This season, I have only seen her play in the Maryville-Farragut game. I have to say though, not many people can compare to the way Amy Josephson is playing. I can't even express in words how impressed I have been with her performance. She has been one of our top players this season, and I don't know how many of our wins this season we would have gotten without her. Amy makes diving catches because she has to. She is not a player (and I'm certainly not saying Lisa is!) that dives at the last second unnecessarily to make the play appear harder than it really was. The plays she makes require more skill than most players have. Her along with Jennifer Covell and Kira Perkins make probably the best outfield in the area.
  6. Yes, the Farragut-William Blount game was a very good and close one. It will always be close when tough teams like these two are competing. It wouldn't be right to talk down about either of these teams. Tomorrow should be a good game too. GO FARRAGUT!!!!!
  7. I'm sorry if anyone disagrees that Amy is among the top outfielders in the state. She made another diving catch in the outfield today. I think that gives her about 6 or 7 plays this year alone that I would not expect anyone to make. And as far as the "stud" thing goes, it's just a team nickname for her. It has nothing to do with cockiness or how good she thinks she is. I guess Farragut in general just has a bad rep for being cocky, but our softball team is not cocky. We are just glad to have the talent on the team that we were given. GO FARRAGUT!!!!
  8. I think that the best player should play, but if the two players are of equal talent/abilities, then yes, they older one should play. If the younger is better, she should play over the upperclassman.
  9. Amy Josephson is one of the best outfielders I've ever seen. Her talent has brought such unity to the outfield this year. Farragut's outfield has to be among the top teams defensively in the state. She's an awesome hitter too. And she is playing with a broken hand. In fact, I think her broken hand is Farragut's good luck.
  10. Actually, it was not a base running error. My coach told me to go. And the girl was hanging on me. I didnt push her, I simply moved my arm to get her off me. She seems like a nice girl, and I don't have that kind of attitude in the game. I, and everyone else who knows me is proud of my attitude in softball. I did nothing wrong.
  11. They also forfeited both games to Farragut that were supposed to be played Tuesday. We were actually leaving to go there, and the coach called to cancel and said that a girl had quit during the 4th class period, bringing them down to 8 players. I'm not sure if they are even going to be able to play in the district tournament.
  12. I think Lenior City will win by at least 4 or 5 runs. I haven't seen either team play, but I know that Kingston has been rather weak the last year or two, and Lenior City has been competing with some good teams here lately.
  13. Good job, Bearden. It was a very tight game, and both teams played well. Way to pull it out Farragut!!
  14. CAK is a much improved team from years past. Their pitcher's speed is very hard to wait back on, and they have pretty good fielding. As far as class goes though, I might have to disagree just a little bit. When I got up to bat when we scrimmaged them, their catcher, speaking very loudly, told the pitcher to hit me with the ball. Their coach also made a rather embarrassing remark in front of the whole field and called me a "big girl." Although I am 6'0", most people would call me thin. Perhaps my height is what he was referring to. Maybe I shouldn't judge the whole team on these two instances, but I felt that they were both unnecessary. As for the other players on the team, they seemed fairly classy. I think that more people should take pride in how they represent their team. I know I do. GO FARRAGUT!!
  15. Farragut pulled out another 2-1 win against Heritage yesterday. We had a 1-0 lead till the fourth inning I think, where I made a stupid error that allowed the tying run to get on, and then score off of a double by the next batter. Then we scored another one in the 6th though. Farragut is 6-0 in district so far. I have to say though, even with William Blount, Maryville, and Bearden in our district, I am glad to have Heritage out of the way.
  16. Margaret Morris, a sophomore from Farragut, is 6-0 in district....and that includes both Maryville and William Blount. She is doing amazing. It will be interesting to see how much she improves by her senior year.
  17. Farragut is. Hopefully we can show some people how good we really are. GO FARRAGUT ADMIRALS!!
  18. I hadn't heard about Megan Rhodes getting hit. What about Lacy, the center fielder for William Blount? The lights weren't very effective at the Gibbs field Friday night I guess, because a line drive got hit into center and it nailed her right in the temple. I really hope she's ok, because a hit to the temple like that could cause some serious damage. Does anyone know if she's ok?
  19. Like I said, even though she threw change ups, it must've worked. We played them last week, and she did throw a lot of change ups. You have to admit though, it is a good change up....lol
  20. I think the best center fielder in the area, or at least the most talented, is Stephanie Cope (senior) of Maryville. Probably one of the best shortstops I've seen is Whitney Hickam of Knoxville Central.
  21. It's not right to compare Lisa to Sara. Sara is one in a million. I think that Lisa deserves a little more credit than she is getting right now. I'm sure she loves the fact that her own teammates talk about her like this behind her back. Being compared to Sara all the time probably gives her lower confidence than she needs. And I do have evidence. I saw her do it against some of the best pitchers in the eastern half of the country last summer. Maybe the reason why Maryville isn't doing as well this year is because you all don't support eachother like you need to. And I don't mean that as an insult, because I know how much talent you have on your team. I have just been part of a team that has not given eachother support for the last three years, and it seems that we finally have the chemistry together that we need. It's never fun when every single player on the team comes home from a game they just lost saying, "Well that sucked, but at least I did well." I honestly don't know if this is what is happening with MHS, but I am simply speaking from experience. I really want Maryville to do well this year. Good luck you all.
  22. I'm not sure if Central is the best team in Knoxville , but they are definitely good. I am proud of them. This is my eighth consecutive year of watching softball in the Knoxville area, and Central has made an unbelievable turnaround. I think the one thing that Central has over Farragut is the pitching combination. Jenna Boring doesn't have a lot of speed, but has amazing movement, and the new freshman pitcher has the speed that Jenna lacks. I hope that Central and Farragut both win their districts so won't knock eachother out in region. GO FARRAGUT!!
  23. Margaret Morris (sophomore) from Farragut is turning some heads this year. She filled in as starting pitcher this year, and is blowing by tons of teams so far. She almost threw a perfect game (BARELY 1 hitter) against Maryville, who has some of the best athletes in the area. Jessie Howard is also sophomore third-baseman for Farragut this year, and is lightning fast. She is developing her skills as a slapper, and as soon as she masters it, I guaruntee her OBP will be no less than .450. Go Farragut!
  24. I actually heard from several Maryville players that they did end up calling it quits after the third inning. That might be understandable, since so many starters were gone. Maybe they wanted to save as much energy as possible for their first elimination game. As it was, there was probably no way any team from Knoxville was going to be that N. Carolina team anyway. Still, it must be hard for Maryville dealing with the situation they are in. Since six years ago, they have had absolutely dominating pitching, and now this year they are left in a void (not that Nikki Hickman isn't doing a good job, she is just a third baseman first before pitcher). I would really like to make the top two teams from District 4 Farragut and Maryville. I hope they continue to improve.
