  1. Interesting how Grainger gets to take their officials on the road with them. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  2. When you say home town cooking to me it insinuates that Grainger has something to do with how the games are officiated and that would be the only way that they could win. That is why I questioned it and asked for specific instances. I assure you that the Grainger folks have nothing to do with what officials are sent to call their games. I think that the crowd and surroundings should be referred to as home field advantage. Every home team has the benefit of that.
  3. I know a lot more thanyou think I do. Could be wrong on the officials, if so I apologize. They use the same ones in other sports. That is a lame excuse for not having success against another team anyway. It is easy to balme the officials when you lose, but do you give them credit when you win. I have been on visiting teams at Pigeon Forge though and their officials are no better than any others. Be careful with the language.
  4. Explain "home town cooking." Give specific instances. They use the same Association for officials that Pigeon Forge does. With that logic it must mean that Pigeon Forge is the beneficiary of the same cooking when they play at home.
  5. Grainger lost badly to Carter once , but also beat them 71-53 once. Grainger also beat Union (twice), Anderson County, and Central. They didn't finish well, but the flu bug cost them in the regionals.
  6. Injuries and illness happens. It is part of the game. Johnson won the game with Grainger fair and square. Grainger did have 4 kids with the flu. Humphrey tried to play and lasted only a couple of minutes and couldn't go any longer (he averages 13 ppg). Farmer played more but was not himself, he didn't have his legs (he averages 12ppg). Glasscock is the starting PG he played some but not like usual. Brabson the 6th man threw up several times in the lockeroom. Not excuses just facts. That is at least 25 ppg from Humphrey and Farmer and they only produced 3. People were playing out of their normal positions and they even moved McBee inside where he could get some touches. I understand that Johnson had a injury as well which could have balanced some of it out. In my opinion Grainger wins if both teams are healthy, but that doesn't matter because both teams had to play with what was available and Johnson County did a better job of that. That is the bottom line.
  7. 3 of Graingers 5 starters have the flu. Farmer, Humphrey, and Glasscock.
  8. Grainger is 9-2 at home and 8-2 on the road.

    McBee

He scored 28 against Fulton last year in a substate game. They have beaten Cocke County twice and Cocke County has beaten Greenville twice. Fulton will not play AA games outside of their regular season district games. Skylar made his mark in the summer AAU leagues. He has played and played well against the best in the country.

    McBee

I don't know where the heights and weights come from. Skylar is closer to 6'3" and weighs 190 lbs.

    McBee

You are not watching the same player that I am if you think he is not strong and physical. He will be able to play defense. Each coach teaches it differently and he would be able to do it.
  12. Does Wake recruit players to sit in a chair? I don't know. Normally schools don't do that. He just scored 18 at Carter. It was an off night and they have a good team. That Freshman has a lot of talent surrounding him also.
  13. There was not another player in the gym that was being asked to do as much as McBee was that night. The gym was also about 80 degrees. He had Gallman in early foul trouble trying to guard him also. Why did Fulton run a second player at him? I don't think this is a tactic that Coach Wright normally uses. He can play the defense that is required!!
  14. Knox Central is leading their district (3AAA), and Cocke County is in 2nd place in 2AAA. Cherokee is very competitive also. Pretty good competition.
  15. Let it go guys. Both teams are good teams, GP will have to be reckoned with at tourney time. The incident was not intentional, it was a basketball play. Both are good kids. GRainger was fortunate to win. GP probably played better. Many games left, we need to move on.
  16. GRainger gets a 52-45 win at Cherokee. They are now 13-3 and have a huge district 2AA game Friday at home against Union County.
  17. qbsdad, You should probably worry about keeping your son from being suspended and under control and stay on the Carter threads. If you were not at the game then you should not comment.
  18. I saw Grainger play their last 3 games and they played man in 2 1/2 of those. Why is man to man required to advance, seems like it would be about how the teams match up with each other. If you look at their scores they have not given up a ton of points, with one exception.
  19. Grainger got a tough win at Cumberland Gap last night 55-53. McBee had 29 and Humphrey 14.
  20. Skylar McBee, Grainger (6'3")Combo guard should be on any all state team if not first 5, then certainly top ten. He is getting major college attention. Coaches from Wake Forest, College of Charleston, and Tennessee have been at recent games.
  21. Grainger beat Cannon County 69-59 on Monday. McBee had 30 and Humphrey had 20. Grainger didn't play well until a technical on Coach Combs in the 3rd quarter. They lost a barnburner to Somerset 92-88. Foul trouble killed the Grizzlies as Humphrey and Carter fouled out. McBee finished with 35, Carter 16, Farmer 11 and Humphrey 10. They probably win if Humphrey stays in game, as he has been playing really well. Time to focus on District games now. 10-3 is not bad.
  22. Grainger picked up a good win over Knox Central at the Union Tournament. Final was 66-64, Humphrey had a tip in with .2 seconds left. McBee finished with 24, Farmer 13, and Humphrey 12. Good bounce back win after a poor showing at Carter last week.
  23. Grizzlies won over Pigeon Forge 54-46. McBee had 31.
  24. Grainger won over Harlan ,KY last night 58-56 in Double OT. Big District game with Pigeon forge tonight.
  25. Grainger Won over Hancock Co. 57-50. Sets up a big game on Friday with Claiborne. Both teams are 6-0.
