  1. I don't know how it's been this year, but Oneida got more calls on the road than on their homecourt last year. I doubt this is the truth.
  2. Wartburg is very strong at home. See them at Oneida last year, they lost only to win at their place by 30. Perhaps the reason they never made it to state is because they are not comfortable outside of their gym. See the district tournament last year. They played exceptionally well, but ended up losing in the 2nd round of the playoffs, only one round further than Oneida made it. They have to play on the road like they do at home to make it to state, and they have to find some shooting from the outside. Shannon didn't make a shot outside of the lane, but he didn't have to. Will he be able to do that all season against better defenders? I doubt it. He's gonna end up getting beat up and possibly injured with all the hits he takes and that maybe what happened to him last year. Did his performance slack off in the region tournament? It wouldn't surprise me if it did. Will it this year? More than likely if his teammates don't stop getting technicals when they shouldn't. Wartburg can be very good, but some particular players think they are better than what they actually are and get dumb techs. Wartburg cannot win with Melton on the bench. He needs to learn to control his anger and use it, not take it out on people. He's good, but he could be great if he can calm down in some situations. If they can avoid injuries and stay humble, they could be very good. Will this happen? We will see.
  3. They're a 1A team...and CY you might want to watch your mouth with those Coalfield boys and their needles
  4. Both Coalfield and Oneida make the playoffs nearly every year. Oneida missed this year and Coalfield 2 years ago. Both before their most recent miss were in it for 14 straight in one of the Top 2 or 3 toughest regions in the state. Cloudland had its first competition in the region in years when Hampton dropped down this year.
  5. Wouldn't say that, they haven't played a quality oppenent yet. Theyhavent even played anybody in their region yet. What this team lacks in experience at winning, they almost make up for with their athleticism and toughness. They should beat OS by 20 but that definately does not put them in the same boat as Fulton by any means. When they beat an AE, AC, or a Fulton then I will believe that they belong with those teams. Wesley Smith is a beast, JT aint too bad either.
  6. Greenback by a lot...I don't think they have slipped near as far as most people do. They will come out and rock the Tigers.
  7. Look for number five for the orange and white to have another big game in Morgan County, he dropped a couple of passes against MC that would have been TDs with his speed, but this week he'll be back with 2 TDs. Now for my Ole Ball Coach going to Coalfield is a little dissapointing but I guess he HAD to have a job . Good luck to both teams but the ORANGE and WHITE by 8.
  8. I thought it was surprising to see the older Shannon get MVP. He had a good game against Oneida, but I thought D.J. or Vespie shopuld have got MVP. Jeremy looked a little slow at first aginst Rockwood but played a better second half. I thought any of these three could have been MVP, but I thought the younger Shannon deserved with the way he stepped up.
  9. My question is why start this thred, do you think coach west will get on here and say you know i should listen to this person that is not there every day, never took a team to state, never sent girls to play ball in college, and never won a coach of the year award. he is a student of the game, and knows more about the game and spends more time thinking about the game than me and who ever is hating ever will. yell at at a sr. for screwing up or even a jr. but how do you think a sophmore responds to that, and the last time i checked sophmores make up about 4/5 of the starting line up. be ready to put your foot in your mouth when he has the best team in the state next year.
  10. This isn't a farely even matchup. Oneida played the worst game in a few years at Oakdale and it won't happen again.
  11. I don't think anyone saw this coming. AC must have played some pretty good D and boxed out well. I think Scott will get through this though, they're too good not to.
  12. I can't remember the exact year i think 1998 a very good oneida team lost to oakdale and came back and went to the final four in the state tourney so there is always hope. i do agree that loss hurt us mentaly, it was embarassing very embarassing, but i also know that the oneida boys know that they are the best team in the district if they play. they have a great coach, athletes out the rear, and nine senoirs. we need to prove ourselves because we haven't gave anybody a reason to believe in us yet. IT IS COMING.
  13. I think oneida has gotten over the loss to Oakdale becuase the game after Oakdale was Wartburg and we won but i do think this will be a huge test for Oneida. it will be a good game to watch and will be close.
