  1. Well, you were close. This is Jonathan Meschendorf, and my dad would agree with me on everything I've said. Looks like somebody's been fibbin' to you! thumb
  2. Well...nonetheless, I'm right about the Jamboree.
  3. Good question with a simple answer: Maryville fans are getting a rather horrible reputation by their actions on this board. I'm certainly aware that Maryville doesn't host the event every year. The gate is split in fourths between all possible hosting teams (four, if you can't figure it out). Maryville, for it's tremendous effort in scrubbing it all together, gets a larger cut, and possibly even all concession sales. And I thought D-B does scrimmage Maryville? Or they used to...? That's a pretty good fit for D-B...because that's what Kingsport people are, Maryvillians without the "612 Gold Balls at 82542893 Lawrence Boulevard".
  4. The meet Director determined that the time was wind-aided.
  5. You Maryvillians have a lot on your chests. You boys could certainly benefit from a relaxing vacation. MHS, I apologize if I didn't answer your question. I tried to give you some inside scoop on why the Jamboree was moved up, in a serious manner. It's not my intentions to sound like a ###### here (although I probably do to you), but Maryville honestly does organize/plan/run the Jamboree, otherwise known as a giant "CF".
  6. Look, you ain't got to get all ancy on me. Apparently, I struck a nerve...which leads me to believe that Maryvillians also heed my assertion. You named one guy out of 1,000s that have played at Maryville High. Every school can name one guy who knocked a 320 lb. fullback down once. Let me break it down to you like this... Maryville can't be the best at everything, in case you haven't figured it out, THEY DO HAVE WEAKNESSES. P.S.- Please do not name 1,000s of former Maryville players that you think "hit hard".
  7. Is that all you people talk about? I wasn't slamming them, just making a point. Such as UT not being known for it's stellar defensive back play. Maryville has many good qualities, including being fairly well-coached, a balanced offensive scheme, and most of all...depth. Maryville's just not a team that will knock people's heads off week in and week out.
  8. Thompson's probably in the phone book. Call him and ask him who organizes the MOC Jamboree.
  9. Yes. And on a broader scale...they should go after talent like Patrick Turner and Lamon Williams.
  10. Just exactly who do you think runs and organizes the Jamboree, GovMan? Good ol' Maryville...where the men are men and the sheep are nerrrrrrrrrrvous.
  11. Well, I am...but if they're going to recruit in the Knoxville area, they should do it on an annual basis. Such as this year...Jeff Jennings, anyone? I've said this before, and I'll say it again, when Cory Anderson decides that he wants to play, he's the best high school inside linebacker that I've ever seen.
  12. What about these "bad" teams?
  13. If you know anything about what you just said you know that Cory Anderson would much rather be wearing a nylon jersey and playing with a round orange ball. There's no disputing him being an incredible athlete, which he is (2 plays out of 5) when he wants to be. About Fred Smith having no football knowledge...ask Fulmer if Heath Shuler had football knowledge. Believe me...their scheme doesn't require Bill Walsh to figure out. I would have just recruited George for the simple fact that he threw for 2,000+ yards in two straight years and won a state championship and a Mr. Football and played literally 11 miles down the road.
  14. I hate open dates and Jamborees, as well. What you guys have to learn is that one thing and one thing only is running high school football right now: Money. People are going to have their Jamboree, you better believe that. Maryville's AD, whom I'll refrain from naming, won't let that happen due to the enormous gate that Maryville receives. And you were right on about the T$$AA...I like that.
  15. Tell that to those geniuses who run your athletic department/school (I won't name names). Other teams in Blount County have played Week Zero games, and due to the Jamboree falling on Week Zero, the official games were played on either Thursday or Saturday. Since the almighty Maryville has decided to join the Week Zero fray, all of a sudden the Jamboree has to be pushed up a week. If only MHS didn't have to run (Read: 'fix') everything, people wouldn't hate them so much. It's like a big brother that always has to have his way and doesn't care how bad he looks in doing so...
  16. I agree, I think Johnson was a pretty good pickup. I just wish Tennessee would recruit Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville a little more than they do. They seem to take kids from Knoxville on the worst years (Anderson, AE; Stevens, Fulton). No offense to those kids, but neither are SEC material for a variety of different reasons...one doesn't really like football and the other is entirely too small for his positition. I mean...Fred Smith was a better quarterback than A.J. Suggs, honestly. It's just that Suggs played at a highly touted Georgia school (McEachern), and Smith's Fulton squad wasn't exactly great. Speaking of, another Fulton player (Jykine Bradley) went on to be an all Sun Belt player at MTSU. I even thought Michael George from Alcoa should have been recruited by UT.
  17. You goob, I was replying to a post that was relevant to the 100m times. And James Rainer DID run a 10.3, but was at a Regional track meet, and not the State track meet, sorry. As for Cassen Jackson, UT made the right decision on him. I wasn't thoroughly impressed with him, mainly his fearfulness of contact. Maryville beat him up pretty bad, and they're not really known for being a hard hitting squad. I would have went after Jeff Jennings before anyone in the area.
  18. You may be the most misinformed person I've ever been in contact with. All Memphis schools have more talent than the entire state of Georgia combined. Would you like to know why Georgia has "more" athletes than Tennessee? 1) Largest metropolitan city in the South (not in landmass, that would be Jacksonville), which equals more urbanites. 2) I have three friends who are head coaches down there and their coaching supplements are equal to what a Tennesseeans' teacher pay is. Obviously, the good coaches are leaving for Georgia. Until Tennessee steps up and starts to pay its leaders of today's youth, Georgia will "produce" more athletes. If the University of Memphis took the All-City team in football or basketball every year, they would win a national championship in both sports. I would like for you to name a "bad" team in Georgia that has 4 D-1A signees. Parkview doesn't even have that!
  19. James Rainer from Alcoa ran a 10.3 to beat Jabari Greer in the A/AA 100 one year.
  20. If you're referring to Camden County, you're about right. They've got one or two players, however, that are just about better than anybody in Georgia OR Tennessee. I saw them play Lowndes last year, and they were amazingly well-coached. They run the Wing-T like it is supposed to be executed. As for them being bigger than Riverdale, I don't think so...I would compare them to a school like JCM or BA up front. They're not overly huge, but excellent coaching improves mediocre line play.
  21. Fair enough, can't argue with that.
  22. Look, you folks wouldn't be so mad if all of this wasn't true. I, personally, would be embarassed to say that D-B has won more games that anybody in the history of the universe.........and still has no state championship. I mean, it stinks to say that, but once again...it's true, and the truth hurts D-B people. D-B was the last team in East Tennessee to have a player play in the NFL (Teddy Gaines), who also played at UT. Your quarterback now will be somewhere bigtime, or should, anyway. And if I wasn't so lazy, I would do some research and find out just how many D-B players have gone on to play college. I would say that it ain't slim.
  23. Actually, bud, I was saying that he shouldn't have been coaching the team at all. He is the President of the TACA and is the only head coach to coach the TN All-Stars that has never won a state championship. Marinate on that for a bit...
  24. There are four at Maryville College. There are at least three at Carson-Newman. I believe one is at Tusculum. All of this is RIGHT NOW. Dobyns-Bennett should throttle everyone, this is obvious due to their fictitious/mythical state championships from the 1700s, or whenever they were voted by the Kingsport Times-Press as being the top team in the state of Franklin/Tennessee. So the Sensabaugh kid wasn't thrown off the team prior to last year? Is that what you're telling me? Don't make me embarass the program with the dirty laundry... Here is my take (and 99% of all others) on the Lamon Williams situation: If he wasn't the best overall player in Tennessee (which he is) and was a short, pudgy, Freshman lineman, he would be nothing but an afterthought. To me, if anyone walks out on a team, there IS NO SITUATION, it's over. And you're right, I do hate DB. I also hate pretenders. I believe even Greenback's won a state championship during the playoff system...
