  1. Thanks for the info. It sounds like the Cats will have their hands full. However, OR played its best game of the season against Science Hill, and I believe they will be up to the challenge. Another thing that I have heard about JNS is that they are not very deep. Is this true?
  2. Wow, that's impressive. It took exactly one post for someone to be an arrogant jerk. I didn't ask for any predictions. If the outcome was determined by the opinion of people on CoachT, Oak Ridge's season would have been over a looong time ago. I would appreciate it if anybody wanted to intelligently discuss matchups, styles of play, etc.
  3. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about JNS. I know about the Delk twins and the post player (Coleman?), but I was wondering if anyone had info about the style, etc. Perspective from a JNS rival would be nice as well. Good luck to both teams.
  4. I find it ridiculous that one message inferred from a quote can cause such fuss. Motivation?? How about having every person in the state of Tennessee outside of Oak Ridge picking Riverdale to win? That would be reason for motivation. But as someone already said, just being in the semis should be motivation enough. I was wondering if someone from Riverdale could answer a question for me. I have been told that the Riverdale team gets introduced as the 2004 State Champions. Could anyone verify this? Anyways, good luck to both teams. It should be an awesome game.
  5. This might possibly be one of the dumbest predictions I have ever seen. I believe Oak Ridge will win all of those games. All three of those teams are quality football teams, so OR still has to bring their A-game every time. It is conceivable, but not likely that OR could lose one of those games. However, heck will freeze over before OR loses all three of those games. I mean seriously, try and be realistic.
  6. There was nothing lucky about what Rick did. He is simply a beast. If I were a defender I would not want to be in the vicinity of Rick. It is a good thing for Clinton that Lussier put in the second team after Gulmire's touchdown at the beginning of the third quarter. It could have easily gone into the 80's if the starters played the whole time. Roll Cats Roll. I'm sure glad some Clinton students came by and put some signs up at ORHS. It sure looked good after a 60-8 whupping. I do have to give props to the Clinton fans at the game though. They stuck by their team and showed great support.
  7. there is definetely a lot of hatred between oak ridge and clinton, but i would have to say its more of a basketball rivalry now - its actually competitive there. also, this past season's oak ridge at db playoff game was one of the best and most heated football games i've ever seen.
  8. From what I have heard, Doyle is not exactly a class act. This is just hearsay but I have been told that before the final Doyle said in the Memphis paper that the only way that Oak Ridge would win would be if OR broke all the legs of the Farragut guys. I was wondering if anyone from Memphis could verify this. I would have looked myself but it costs money to look at archives of the Commercial Appeal.
  9. Oak Ridge ran over 3:30 in the 4x400 because they ran without two guys from their team from region. One could not run because of being spiked from the 4x800 and the other was not able to run at the state meet.
  10. turbocab May 16, 2004 I believe somebody owes some props to OR, JDub03, and Millington (for coming in second).
  11. ~justme~, it should be noted that the people talking trash for Oak Ridge were not on the team. None of the team members had anything to do with it and they actually wanted all the chatter to die down. I still obviously think they will win the race though. I think it will be a great race, but I think that the fact that OR has Matt Hudson running the last leg is a huge advantage. Good luck to everyone.
  12. Anyone who says Section One is a weak section is an idiot. Even though BHSfootball is correct in stating that qualifying times don't really matter, lets look at them anyways. In shotput, Section 1 has two of the top three seeds. In discus, Section 1 has two of the top three seeds. In pole vault, Section 1 has two of the top three seeds. In the 4x800, Section 1 has the top two seeds. In the 400, Section 1 has the fourth seed. In the 800, Section 1 has the top two seeds. Now, that is only looking at the seeds straight up. You could then argue that individuals from Section 1 have very good opportunities at doing well in the 400 and 1600. All of this doesn't mean much until it is settled on the track, but it is proof that Section 1 is by no means weak. Maybe not the best, but definitely not weak.
  13. Oak Ridge 2 Science Hill 1 OR goals from Blair and Beene. Impressive victory coming off the farragut disaster.
  14. Like you said, Division II obviously has the most talent of any division in the state. Practically all of that can be attributed to good coaching and hard work, but it would be ignorant to say that private schools don't have an advantage. Maybe what I said came off wrong. I'm not saying private school coaches are going around handing out brochures and asking people to come to their schools. The fact is that if you totally disregard athletics, private schools are generally better than public schools. If this were not true, people would not pay lots of money to go them. Since they are better, that gives them an inherent advantage over everyone else. I was not meaning it to be a put down so there is no need to be a jerk about it. The only reason this is being discussed is because you felt it necessary to come on here and talk sh*t. How about we talk about some state predictions instead.
  15. I think the bigger issue is that private schools can recruit and get higher end talent. I mean Brentwood's time is an incredible time regardless of what class they are in, but I do think they have an advantage being a private school. Back to the original discussion - the 4x800 in AAA is probably going to be one of the better races at the state meet. With four teams under 8:05, its going to be close. After watching the Section-1 AAA meet, I have to give the edge to Oak Ridge because Matt Hudson ran probably the easiest looking 1:55 I have ever seen. He was hardly breathing after it was over. Good luck to all.
