  1. "Masters wanted to get away from the power of Coach Flatt and anyone that was taught by him." So this whole hire was just about a power trip? Did you bring this up to actually debate about it, or just to vent because you feel like some traditions that you probably haven't even taken part in for a decade or so will be lost in the transition to a new coach who, though you say is unfamilliar to BA ways, has coached against them for somewhere around 8 years, played against them in high school, and whose father coached against them for a long time also (don't have the definite duration for that one). He is familiar to the Brentwood Academy program. He is familiar with their tradition of winning (fresh in his mind after the state championship), and is looking forward to becoming a new member of the BA family. The thing is, this job will stay in the BA family. From what I've heard, Potter is excited about moving into this storied program, and this close family of people. It sounds like you feel betrayed or something by this move. Why? Give it a chance before you start taking personal offense to a move that a large number of the BA family is excited about. Chill out a bit, tradition will stand, the family will grow, it's got to happen for the school to grow.
  2. I've played with Ravenwood's Tyler Kahn and BA's Corbin Walker, who lives in trill-ville. They're both pretty solid keepers, and are both lookin to take it to the college level.
  3. If anyone in TN can give BA a run for their money, it probably won't be because Brandan Wright got shut down. He's not hyped for nothing, and those of you talking about him who have not watched him play need to watch before claiming you have a match for him. He's already shown multiple times that he cannot be shutdown. Of there indeed is a player out of West TN who can keep Wright out of the game, who is he, and why hasn't his name come up more? From watching him all season long, I just honestly think that it can't be done. On a side note, I find it odd that the Tennessean ranked Hunters Lane above BA in their Power Poll, despite their losses to two in-state teams, MLK and Stratford. BA beat MLK by 13 earlier in the season, and BA's three losses have all come to out of state schools. The good thing is that this does not affect BA's postseason dreams, so BA will not have to end up being a veritable Auburn (down with the BCS).
  4. Too bad BA lost, but without many details it sounds like a pretty valiant effort. I'm proud of the guys and glad that they got to play teams of that caliber to prepare for the postseason tournament play. I would not like to be in PJP II's shoes however, playing BA at home immediately upon the Eagles return from Mater Dei.
  5. the lack in numbers of coaches is made up for by the superb performances of the managers, led by the one and only Nasty Nate. But, on a serious note, I really need an update here. I'm strugglin without one.
  6. to thank you would be to somehow understate the significance of that update -- yet, thank you. looks like we're in for a game.
  7. oh man. I think I speak for all Mustache Mafia members when I say I wish I could be there right now supporting our team. It's gonna be a great game, and a tough one for BA to pull out a victory in, but I think that BA will at least keep it close (if indeed they lose) and represent TN. Is there any possible way to get updates?
  8. haha. With the way some folks keep whining, I wouldn't mind if this thread was shutdown.
  9. BA pulled the last one out despite no three-pointers, and an all-around sloppy game. For some reason I think BA will come out hard this time, but if they let Father Ryan hang around again, it will be another white-knuckler.
  10. We could keep going back and forth with each person telling which player he likes better, but, in the end, finesse transfers to the next level much easier than power, and Wright's team won two times. If you guys just keep on dissin Brandan, saying stuff like 2live, then there won't be any discussion, cause it's obvious that people like him don't really know Brandan's skill level, let alone his potential. If you are ignorant enough to say that Smith is bigger and better, but "he [Wright] is just taller", doesn't even deserve a discussion.
  11. show some class GCfan79. First, I don't think BA's "return to mediocrity" is as close as 2 years off, they've got plenty of depth. You might want to look into some of the stuff you write about in the future. And then saying Wright looks like a Mr. Potato Head clearly crossed the line. CrashDavis was simply talking about Smith's muscular development, and didn't compare his appearance to a toy used by kindergardeners. But, if you wanna keep showing your true colors, that's cool too. Just a poor reflection on yourself.
  12. Overall, great game. In defense of BA returning to mediocrity after the departure of Wright, what does it say that BA won by the most when Wright, according to some, got owned by Smith. That leaves two (2) possibilities: 1) Brandan did not in deed get dominated, and/or 2) that BA clearly does not rely on one star player in big games, and has shown tremendous depth.
  13. 2003-04 season: 1st BGA win: wow, that was such a fluke, they are gonna get killed. 2nd BGA win: oh my goodness, they are really gonna get killed now. 3rd BGA win: woah. With these results in mind, look for BA to come out with vengeance in mind to reclaim their three straight upsets at the hands of BGA. Josh Bone is back from his knee injury, and it is at the home of the Eagles, so I'm gonna predict a big win with BA going into half time with at least a 7 point lead, and finishing with a 12 point win.

    BA 2004

Once again, the BA 2004 thread will be dusted off for one final theme: the 2004 State Championship. Looking back over all these past posts just reminds me how much I love this BA team. Looks like "Against all odds" was pretty darn accurate.
  15. wow. to be bringing up recruiting at this point is just straight up retarded. Just shows how ignorant and classless some people truly are, since apparantly not even a Supreme Court ruling is enough for them. But beyond all this garbage that is being brought up by people who simply want to get back at BA for their past accomplishments, I am looking forward to next Tuesday.
  16. I think he deserves more credit than "that QB was settin those guys up to get decked 2 times and the other one was a late hit", bsball4. Keep in mind he was a sophomore during this game.
  17. It's pretty tough talking about this topic right now, considering it's the week of the game, because I'm sure no one wants to give the other team locker room material, but, saying that, GO EAGLES.
  18. No matter which team is better, both always show up to play, but who will have the upper hand in the end, and why?

    BA 2004

As everyone probably knows by now, we didn't do as well as we would have liked to in Memphis the other week. Our team this year is very talented, but it seems that the players just haven't found the way to kick their play up another notch. I think we're a solid quarter away from finding that intensity, but it seems that we just haven't found it yet. Any thoughts/predictions on the BA-Baylor game this Friday?

    BA 2004

Way to go WatchThis, I thought this thread had been eternally lost. What does everybody think the biggest surprises are this far in to this season at Brentwood Academy?
  21. haha! This post is hilarious. It seems that all you Oakland fans are getting a wee bit ahead of yourselves, and that's all I'm gonna say, cause some of these comments don't even deserve to be responded to, but, if you would like to keep posting about your chances against BA, I could really use some more laughs, so I guess you could keep 'em coming. WesVols, are you planning to be in town for the BA-Oakland game?
  22. I already posted my prediction on the BA 2004 thread, as I think most of you should also do for the Week 1 game to keep things organized, but here it is: BA struggles until midway through the first quarter, when they finally wake up and get their heads in the game after Centennial takes the lead. Then, a back and forth battle and some late heroics from Centennial with BA winning by 12 in a game that was actually closer than the scoreboard can tell.
