  1. Station Camp will come along. They have some size on their team, but they did seem to lack direction. That first kick-off where the Portland dude slipped was inexcusable. If he hadn't have slipped, he'd been gone. That is coaching's job. I hope they get it together. That school will grow, numbers-wise, so they will depend on successful sports programs to keep people interested in going there. Beech's freshmen were small, but never gave up, to a much bigger Gallatin freshman team. My hat's off to them. The poor QB was run all over. He had absolutely no blocking each time he dropped back. White House... I am going to try to NOT get too excited, but they really did impress me.
  2. White House . Not Whitehouse. Go Big Blue... Also, I bet all those kids are gonna be tired tomorrow at school!
  3. Well said Advocate...ALLL of White House is great. We are ONE!!!!
  4. Let's keep this post going for all White House activity.
  5. Greenbrier gets better and better every year. They should be loaded this year. It will indeed be a great game....
  6. Attention White House Blue Devil fans: The official site www.whitehousehigh.com/football has been updated with the 2004 Roster and new coaching profiles!!!!!!!....Check it out!!!......Go Big Blue!!!
  7. I would say that White House is a shoe-in for 3A next year, but the final realignment will be announced at the end of this season. I am just curious how Portland will do in 4A. I don't see them hanging as well as we did, with the speed of the 4A schools.....Man, for those in middle Tennessee, does this weather outside tonight feel like football weather or what?..... GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I hear ya WHHS1975.....I love progress, but it seems as though memories fade quicker as a result. I, too, miss small town White House.
  9. I didn't play...just a fan. wish i had in hindsight, though.
  10. Hey Dandy82. I am so with you in sharing the hurt. I now look back and realize that 75% of my friends were from the Robertson County side, and under the current scenario, I never would have met them. I also know that I will miss all the businesses being painted blue and white every week with BDP painted all over the windows. Now, businesses will probably not paint one way or the other, being afraid that they are showing bias. I have told people from Portland that the only way I can describe it to them, is if Portland was divided down Hwy 109, and one side got the Panthers, and all their traditions, while the other side had to start from scratch. It will always break my heart. Nevertheless, it happened, and I wish there was a way we could strike up some sort of side by side, community-support promotion for both high school sports programs, where we could call on the community to look at both as representing the CITY of White House. Also volsandtitans1: The best way I could desribe the general vibe of growing up in WH years ago, would be to watch the movie Dazed and Confused. THAT WAS small town White House-hanging-out to me. Kids in WH have it better now, they can criuse and hang out in parking lots. When I was in school, we had an 11 o'clock city-wide curfew, and you couldn't hang out in a group of 2 or more, in any parking lot anywhere without being run off by the POH-LEESE! Remember when everybody use to meet up at "The pharmacy"? Man I am getting nostalgic, I'll stop now....GO BIG BLUE!!!!
  11. I'm sure Joe didn't mind. Man, White House was such a great place to grow up.....BDP forever, baby.
  12. Some BDP trivia. The player that coined the phrase "B.D.P." on that fateful night in 1985 in the locker room after a battle that resulted in a hard fought 0-3 loss versus the Madison High School Rams was none other than Joe Pryor, #50. If I am not mistaken Joe, with his long blond-white hair, also kicked the extra point that lead to beating Portland for the first time in 1984, 14-13. Joe is now kicking butt as a police officer in the great city of Charlotte, N.C. Minus the hair. Sorry Joe. But it's the truth.....
  13. If anybody knows of any scrimmages in the next few weeks that are being played at the park, be sure to post info on here...!
  14. For me it's White House-Portland. It has been that way since I was a little dude. Always fun, always intense, always close. You always see fans of both sides visiting each other in the stands on both sides of the field. We ARE neighbors. Most of us grew up together. We go to church together, and some of us even graduated from one school, only to move to the other town, and have our kids go to the other school. It's all good. I hate when the rivalry sometimes becomes negative. It's a game, it's kids having fun, and it's just an overall good time. I just wonder if the rivalry has lost some of its luster over the years, because many of the people in White House now, haven't lived there long. They don't know what it is like to grow up as neighbors (with Portland folks) all their lives, and how many families go way back in this traditional rivalry, and also, since White House is now split along the county lines, will one side of White House lose interest? I personally hope both sides will support both WH public schools. Other rivalries: Portland-Trousdale Co. White House-Greenbrier White House-Springfield Gallatin-Hendersonville
  15. Is there gonna be another Sumner County jamboree in White House this year? If so, is anyone in here going?
  16. Sumner County seems to always do well, with almost every team making the playoffs year in and year out. I look for Gallatin to be strong, as well as Hendersonville, Beech, White House and Portland. Look for an improved Station Camp because of more experience and increased numbers. Hopefully Westmoreland will do good as well.....
  17. Westmoreland. Those guys back in the 80's and early 90's if I remember right, were contenders. There use to exist a big rivalry between them and Portland, and also White House. Man, you talk about good games! Westmoreland, the city, is kinda off to itself, so I think they just don't have the increasing enrollment numbers, like a Portland, whose population is constantly growing, or White House, which also has that same luxury. What is a shame is how the TSSAA does their classifications and divisions, because I would love to see the Portland-Westmoreland rivalry renewed. It was a big money maker for both of the schools and regardless of either school's size, it was always a great game. I hope Westmoreland does well this year, they deserve to be contenders....They are my pick for sleeping giants.
  18. Haven't heard anything about the passing leagues. I am assuming that scrimmages should fire up again in the next few weeks.
  19. It's hard to go deep in the playoffs for us in 4A. At least it has been so far. I hope the Devils are up for the challenge this year, as it is the last in 4A. Let's make it a memorable one. I think the TSSAA should never have went to the four year thing. With the ever changing populations in certain areas of our state, and new schools popping up everywhere, it would have made more sense to go back to the two year intervals for classifications. Also, I sure hope they get the live audio feed thing up for this season on the WH website! I'd love to be able to listen to the games I can't attend. It drives me crazy waiting to hear the scores on the radio.
  20. I think Springfield will stay in 4A because their numbers are almost identical to Portland's. Greenbrier and WH might finally be reunited in the same division. I wonder if Macon County will be in there? And yes, I think the gates will be much better. That is one place we have suffered as a result of our move up. WH traveled well to the Nashville schools, but most of those schools didn't travel even to WH in the numbers they should have. I mean, we are only 20-30 miles away. What's sad is, that a couple of those Nashville schools we played had extremely poor turn outs at their own home games. The players on the field outnumbered the people in the stands, meaning that many of these hard working kids didn't even have members of their families coming to the game to support them. That's sad. One place I was impressed with was Whites Creek. They packed the stands, were some of the best hosts you could ask for, and their food was amazing!!
  21. The only ones I know of personally because of my location are, the 2001 Portland team that was upset by Trousdale County. Also the 1998 White House team. I believe they lost to Roane County. And Gallatin's 2003 team. I would have loved to have seen them in the playoffs. Man, what a crock that whole deal was. Something definitely stunk in that one. Also, wasn't Trousdale County expected to win state a year or two ago, but was knocked out unexpectedly?
  22. I also noticed that by the new enrollment numbers, it looks as though Pearl-Cohn will be in 3A, and if I'm not mistaken, Station Camp. What stinks is that Portland will be in 4A now that we will be back down to 3A. I wanted us to be in the same division again. Actually, if you add WHHS numbers with those of WH-Heritage, White House High School would have easily had over 1,000 students had the split not occurred. The worst thing to ever happen to White House as a Community was "the split". Without going back into it, let me just say, it breaks my heart, and angers me at the same time when I think about what went down, and how our Community was divided down the middle.
  23. One of the biggest crimes in high school football is that White House, Portland and Greenbrier aren't in the same division. Anyone agree?
  24. Coach Lassiter will have the Green Wave ready. I know nothing of the factors they have, returning starters, etc., I just know that with great coaching, and a bad taste from last year, they will be dangerous, and rightfully so!
  25. Hey GWAVE1, Thanks for the report. All of us here at WH have the utmost respect for the Green Wave, afterall, it was Coach Robert Lassiter that initially started the winning tradition of WHHS football. And to be frank,it's my opinion the Green Wave were done dirty by the you-know-who last year. You guys would have went deep in the playoffs....Coach Lassiter is a top-notch coach, and I know Coach Porter will agree. Once again, thanks for your report, and nice comments! Good luck to all Sumner/Robertson teams!!!
