  1. No doubt in my mind. New blood is fine as long that person realizes it is all about building relationships with the players and not about any schemes. As for energy I have some some lazy young coaches as well. Players just want to know you care about them first and then the rest is easier. I do hope the best for AHS. I have a very strong love for Antioch.
  2. Agree about coaches McPhail and Woodward.
  3. Football practice for the most part is work and not fun, Only fun is playing. Work is not something kids these days are willing to do. All the news about concussions has discouraged many parents to let their kids play.
  4. Being hard on kids? In all my years, I have found that kids do not care how hard you are on them if they really "know you care about them". That is the big difference to me. Kids know the coach who cares and those coaches that are all about themselves. As for having your name on here take it a step further and have your picture and name at the bottom of your posts. I do enjoy seeing some of the posters who post on here and enjoy you arguing with them. Hope all is well with you.
  5. They are ignoring you. Riverdale is now one of my schools to recruit. Looking forward to Rutherford County. Some of the best football in Tennessee. Saw all the RC schools at the Titan recruiting fair yesterday.
  6. A zone change is needed for Glencliff and possibly others. I do not see football being eliminated at any metro school. There are some small enrollment schools that have been mentioned closing and becoming used as middle schools.
  7. I recently heard that metro is considering doing away with football in some schools and allowing players to play at other schools.
  8. I know what is being said. A coach can only coach the kids and not worry about things he can't control. I do not know of any coach in metro that does not have the things needed to coach. Game is still about coaching the kids right and running a scheme they can run. Can't be concerned about the what ifs.

  10. I do not see that happening. Looks like SSDD and 5 Down 5 Across has made its way out of metro and headed south on I-65.
  11. If you are saying Webb is the problem then what you are hearing is wrong. The only thing outrageous is any alleged involvement by another coach. If any involvement by another coach is true then either follow rules of coach Webb or follow advice of outsider. Pretty simple to me.
  12. But look at the gate money they get (50%) at all the games leading up to state championships. And most early rounds are rival ( and a revenge game) games with teams close to each to cut down on travel costs and encourages large crowds. I do agree that Vanderbilt was the best place.
  13. Yes, it is my opinion. I have worked with him and I was impressed with his abilities. Time will tell . Records, stats, and any other physical evidence you are seeking doesn't always reflect any coach's ability. Some of the best coaches in the state will not always have great measurables but are good coaches. In my years of experience The teams that seem too always win have the best players consistently in the program. Most HS programs have up and down years as seen by different state champions yearly. My wish is that anyone a fan get on board and be supportive of the team. Bottom line is this “Players make plays, not coaches.”
  14. I think fb247 was just letting you know that I (runtheball) was never at Glencliff or Independence. As for new OC at Morristown West he is an excellent coach as are many in high school football in Tennessee. He will do a good job. I am sure his opinion is based on the success that he has had.
  15. Coach will do a good job. Hope he can hire some good help.
  16. I have seen that also. I have seen bad coaches with good players win over very good coaches with less talent also.
  17. good coaches win with good players. Bad coaches win with good players. Never seen any coach, good or bad, win without good players.
  18. hate to see HL having tough times. Actually hate to see any metro school having tough times.
  19. You got the wrong guy. I do hope glencliff has a good year and believe they can win some games this fall.
  20. Morristown West has one of the best offensive coordinators in the state. It takes all of the above to win a state championship, support from fans and admin, players, good coaching staff, and some luck along the way.
