  1. Pickett Co. lost in OT to Chattanooga Prep at prep in the substate and has 5 starters back from last season. But 2 others started late in the season and they are graduating. There is a chance they may get a very good 6'4" player. He may either go to Pickett or York. They will be hard to beat if he comes to Pickett. Even without him, they will be very good again.
  2. York's only losses were to 4A Coffee County in a game where they led at the half and to 4A Cookeville, but then beat them in the rematch by 11. York had the 7th toughest schedule and played 7, 4A teams and 7, 3A teams. They only had 8 home games with the other 23 games on the road. They have a Miss Basketball nominee, Reese Beaty. They won the Silver Ball last year beating Gibson County and Gatlinburg-Pittman to reach the finals...and they are a far better team this year, having lost just 1 starter. They average score was 60-32 and held opponents to 5,7. 10. 11. 14, 15, 19, 19, 21, 26 and 10 games where their opponents only scored in the 30s. Most games the starters played less than half the game.
  3. Players who live in Fentress County can go to either school. Anyone in the state can go to York since it is a state school. Anyone in the County can go to Clarkrange since it is the county high school.
  4. When was it back and forth? As far back as I remember it was always York to Clarkrange.
  5. PC has been to 5 state tournaments in the last 7 years and is a safe bet to go this year. Livingston hasn't gone a single time in those years. Pickett County's record has been 201-47 for an 81.95% WINNING record. They have been ranked #1 in the state many, many times during these years. Livingston has been 150-108 for a 58.14% winning record...with THREE LOSING SEASONS. Pickett's had seasons of 23-10, 29-3, 30-3, 30-3, 26-3, 29-5, 18-9 and 19-5. Livingston's best record in these years was only 25-7 last year with 15-19, 9-22 and 14-16 LOSING seasons. Pickett Co and Clarkrange suck??? Both Pickett County and Clarkrange have gone to the state 5 times in the last 7 years. LA has gone ZERO...ZERO...ZERO. CHECK THE FACTS. lol...once again you have embarrassed yourself not having the facts.
  6. My friends and I still mention it every so often. I'm sure a lot of fans remember. I hated that White Co. lost since I'm always for Upper Cumberland teams and I've known Eric ever since he coached at Pickett Co.
  7. Yes, after losing 4 starters from last year, a group that went to the state semifinals two years ago, I didn't expect PC to be this good. I knew they had a lot of talent, but their 3-point shooting and their smothering defense is outstanding. They are a young team as well. I remember that 1997 Upperman team. They made it to the state semifinals and lost to the eventual champion Perry County. I can't remember if they were the team that Clarkrange upset in the region finals. If so, they must have won their substate on the road to advance to the state. It could have been their next year's team.
  8. I remember that and we talked about it after the Pickett game, but I doubt anyone will ever beat that White County achievement! That was an amazing team but got upset in the region tournament. Eric Mitchell is a great coach and also did a great job at Pickett County when he was there.
  9. One year out of the past 35 years they have been down. Can your school match this? I did some research on Trousdale County and they have been one of the top programs for 35 years. I've seen them play basketball but never football. This is their 35th straight time they have been in the state playoffs. They have been unbeaten 8 times since 1988, and have won 9 state championships, Previous to this year, they have also had twelve 1 loss regular seasons, 5 two loss regular seasons, eight 3 loss seasons, and a 6-4 season. So, this season is far from their typical season. They have the 4th most state championships. I know this has been a tough year for them, but thought this history should be mentioned. I know they will spring back next year.

  11. How could York shut out Rockwood? Easy...York led Monterey 34-7 in the 4th quarter, Oneida 28-0 at the half and Rockwood 26-0 at the half.
  12. If Caden Stover can play, he's good for a touchdown or two.
  13. York lost to 4A Top 10 team Stone Memorial, to 4A Gibbs and 8-1 Clay Co. so those scores make York's points given up average higher than Monterey and Rockwood's weaker schedules. It was 34-7 York, in the 4th quarter against Monterey.
  14. That is NOT TRUE at all about Coach Wright. Coach Wright left because of administrative responsibilities at York Institute. The coach who took over had 3-8 and 3-8 seasons and was relieved of his duties and Coach Wright was asked to come back. They had PLENTY of talent last season and should have had a much better record. Don't post things you know nothing about.
  15. 34-7 lead over the highly favored Monterey and the jury is still out? lol
  16. York has a lot more than Leffew, who is very good. They have several very fast runners and very good defense. They picked off a pass from Monterey's Montgomery for a TD and recovered fumbles. They were ahead 34-7 at one point.
  17. They will most likely have the best player in Jacob Amonett and are loaded with 3 point shooters. Yes, I knew that about Heath a while ago. My mention of him before was in May. He will make a very good York team far better.
  18. York made too many mistakes and those cost them the game. Without the turnovers and bad punt I think York could have won...but they did make them and Bledsoe Co took advantage. I think that last Warrior TD came because after York fumbled driving to the BC 30 and that took the wind out of their sails. Bledsoe didn't make those big mistakes though and deserved the win.
  19. No. It takes away an option. A very good defensive team can upset a better team. Who wants to see a bunch of games with no suspense with the winners winning by 30 and 40 points...boring.
  20. I have heard a rumor that heath Wattenbarger is transferring to York. They would have most likely had the best 2 players in the district, but if he does transfer, that will hurt. PC has some great 7th graders coming up in a couple of years, and when Jacob Amonett is a senior, they should be very good. Without Heath, I'm not sure what to expect next season. With Heath at York, they'll be back in Murfressboro. They lost in OT last year with their best player playing hurt.
  21. The Pickett County girls were very young...starters: 2 freshman, 2 sophomores and a senior. They fell off late after beating 4A unbeaten Powell. The had earned the #2 ranking early, but they were young and didn't play well late in the season. They have some very talented eighth graders joining the team next season and should be very strong for the next several years. I think this group will bring home the school's 6th Gold Ball...many a couple more.
  22. York absolutely...they won the silver ball this year and only lose on starter and should be even better next season.
  23. Pickett loses the Amonett twins, Caleb Lowhorn and Hunter Wattenbarger. The twins both had ACL injuries which took away the team's momentum and PC also lost starter Caleb Lowhorn late in the season. But they'll be good again with Jacob Amonett and Heath Wattenbarger back along with Eli Reagan, who was a freshman and played often. They have other upcoming talent too. They are most likely a year away, but will be in the chase for the district championship.
  24. District 7A was by far the best district in the state with 4 teams in the top 10 all year.
