  1. You make it out like getting out rebounded and having no answer for their inside game is some major news........Cascade had no one over 6'1 in the line-up and they were going up against 6'6, 6'5 kids.......DUH! That is not news and your comment about the "whole foul to win thing" is a credit to Coach Pope for scouting and knowing who to try to foul, yeah it's a desperate move but when you are facing elimination isn't that time to try desperate measures. Those CA kids went to the line intending to make those shots I am sure but they are kids and sometimes it doesn't happen the way they would have wanted it to. I have watched Carkuff for three years at Cascade and I am sure he thought he was about to put the game into O.T. but it didn't work out that way. Both teams played hard and it was fun to be in the stands watching, the finals should be a good one. Good luck to both teams.
  2. I don't think it will come down to a coin flip. At lunch yesterday, Coach Pope told me that any tie break is first handled on how you did head to head and then they start with how you did against the #1 team, then #2, etc., and if all those tie-breaks are exhausted then they flip the coin. Community would have at least one tie-break over Forrest and possibly MTCS with their win over Cascade, they could have more if they come to Cascade and win Friday night. My cousin teaches at Community and said Norris was out at least until next week but who knows. Regardless Cascade and Community Friday night should be entertaining with either team capable of winning. I am just glad it is at home and I get to watch! Good luck to both teams!
  3. I agree with ecu, no one "great" team but several good teams. Eagleville and Community I think will split as well, holding on to each others home court wins and that should allow Cascade to finish first if they can escape Chapel Hill with a win, which is not a given because those kids are getting better and Davy is a HECK of a coach and has always seemed to get my friend, Coach Pope's number. The tournament should be fun to watch with no clear cut tournament favorite going in. Good luck to all the teams!
  4. Just the way the schedule played out, kinda like Cascade/MTCS not playing until second semester. My family and I went to the MTCS/Cascade game the other night in the 'boro and WOW what a gym! Awesome facilities, I asked Coach Pope today about the rest of the place and he bragged on their locker-rooms and coaches officies. IT WAS NOT BEFORE IT WAS DUE. I think the top three are Cascade, Community and Eagleville in any order.
  5. ds123 what you call domination by culleoka over cascade was what game? I was at both of them and watched Cascade LEAD after one quarter at home before falling to a team with two dominant post players that are 6'6 and should dominate. My family and I then went to Culleoka and watched Cascade play terrible in the first half and yes only score 7 points but it wasn't like Cully blazed the nets, they scored 26 in the first half.....BUT WAIT wins and losses arent' awarded after just ONE half and late in the fourth quarter Cascade had Cully's lead to nine with trips to get closer but missed shots. Coach Pope tipped his hat to them as just a better team and I agree to a point.....they have two post players Cascade doesn't have. As for the Huntland game, Cascade led by 15 at the end of three quarters and relaxed and to Huntland's credit came roaring back behind some streaky three point shooters who had remained silent most of the game. Bottom line, District 9-A could be won by several teams, Community, Eagleville, Cascade and you CAN NOT count out Forrest, Coach Mac does a great job and always seems to have his teams ready for tournament time. Should be fun to be a fan like me, good luck to everybody!
  6. on the other threads I said this so I might as well post it on this one.....Cascade as bad as they wanna beat Community.
  7. Forrest wins big and without a script this time Community can forget coming over to Cascade and winning. Yeah, they will play hard, compete and all that but what they will get for their troubles is good butt-kicking in the stable. GO CHAMPS!
  8. Good luck I guess. He better be careful of the revolving door at CCHS. Passing on Williams seems to be a mistake but hey I guess time will tell. All Coach Pope would tell me yesterday was that he hoped she got a chance to get back in the mix and that if given the chance she would do a good job. Oh, well. I believe that this is Muckles fourth or fifth job in the last ten years.
  9. Cascade in a close, seven if not more inning affair and Summertown in a fiver, as bad as they want to beat Nashville Christian.
  10. I will just tell you all that if they hire Muckle they need to check him. He changes jobs frequently and always seems to have some sort of "conflict" with the administration or parents wherever he is at. AS far as the Williams lady, I asked my friend, Cascade boys head coach Charlie Pope, about her. He was Chuck Bensons' assistant at Martin Methodist while she was there coaching the women and I think worked a year for her at Cumberland. He had nice things to say about her but wouldn't go into any details....I think he knows I post on here some but he is too nice to tell me. Good luck to whomever they hire! That person will need it!
  11. Icecold I agree, it sure seems that there are alot more open on the women's side this year. I know Richland high school in Giles county is looking in addition to ones you mentioned. Alot of these jobs have some crossover candidates as well. I have a friend who teaches at Franklin and he said as he was leaving he thought he saw our boys basketball coach coming into the building. His family has come to some games with our family and he said he thought he recognized him. I haven't seen Coach Pope to ask him but I doubt he would tell me. Anyway seems like women's basketball will have an interesting off-season.
  12. Hush, get the paperwork, take the test, buy a whistle and join us.......and you will see how little you know and how much else everyone else knows!
  13. Oh, no.... here we go with the refs! Look can we all just face the facts that officials are humans and we all make mistakes. They were also in front of 2,000 people and that has a tendency to make anyone nervous....
  14. Georgio was going to hammer one earlier but got fouled on the way up.....then as Icecold 06 predicted, he hammered one on the NCS eagles! Congratulations to Moore County and Coach King, I saw his buddy, Coach Pope in the stands last night with his wife, I am sure he supplied all his tapes on NCS, I was not sad to see them lose last night, after the hammer job they put on my Champs I really thought they would advance but Moore County beat us twice this year as well, Oh well. Coach Anderson and his grandson seem to be classy individuals and the best of luck to them in the future. GO RAIDERS!
