  1. ill agree with you 100%, brian baker is not only the best player in state, hes the best player in the southeast, and top 5 in the nation haha. hes ranked #1 in nation! and my personal opinion is that ben rogers is gonna be better than bobby cameron this year, but i guess we will find out.
  2. who are you busterbark? ive played your alls #1 seed, josh cruze is a good guy and a good tennis player.
  3. I would like to express my opinion on what I feel was a terrible injustice that occurred Wed. Feb. 5 at Maryville HS. Only four players signed letters of intent Wednesday from the school with the best program in the state. People in the area have said that that this team had the most talent of any Maryville team. When this senior class was eighth graders, Coach Hammontree said they could be the best class to ever come through Maryville HS. The past four years they have proved this to be true. With a school record 26 game winning streak under their belt and three straight state championships who could argue any differently? How come then, that the 1998 team coached by Coach Hammontree had 7 players to sign and this team only had 4. In my opinion, Cole Mckinney, Jacob Holt and Isaac Cline should have definitely signed scholarships. You could also make a case for Lucas Tipton, John Raulston and Russell Clement. I also feel that two of Maryville's players signed at below the level that they should have. Brandon Waters is a 1A player and Drew Galyon is a 1AA player, however Waters signed with 1AA TN Tech and Galyon signed with NAIA Union College. WAters was a 3 year starter, team captain, two time all-state selection and a Mr. Football finalist. Galyon moved from defensive back to defensive end, a position he had never played before, and led the team in tackles and probably the whole state in sacks with 23. He was an all-state selection and chosen as one of the top 25 prospects in the state by the Knoxville News Sentinel. What does it take??? To illustrate my point four years ago Nick Black signed with Clemson. Nothing against Nick Black, but most would consider waters a better offensive lineman. Last year Colton Baker signed with TN Tech. Again nothing against Mr. Baker, but Drew Galyon who was recruited as a linebacker is taller, faster and arguably had a much better senior season than Baker. I would like to hear any comments on my opinions either pro or con.
  4. tyler gaskin from maryville is awesome. hes like 6'5 and doesnt get a lot of the attention because of lee humphrey, but without tyler we would've lost both games to bearden. he brings awesome defense, and is a threat down low. hasnt been stopped yet.
  5. can anybody tell me when the TN KY and the East West all-star games are to be played? also when do the rosters come out?
  6. rumor has it that Brandon Waters, Brad Merritt, and T.J. Brock are all going to Carson Newman next year, if this is true i know Carson Newman offered Waters a full ride
  7. i meant, someone without a college degree can be more educated than someone WITH a college degree.
  8. ok so i guess i missed the guy wearing the sandwish board that said you have to have a college degree to have integrity, self esteem, or even AN EDUCATION. ill tell you right now that someone can be more educated without a college degree than someone without one. listen, im all for going to college and trying to become something of yourself, but like i said before, college is not for everyone. just because someone doesnt go to college doesnt make them any less of a citizen, or a person. and like i said before im not just talking about it from an athletic point of view, some posts already mentioned bill gates and so on. but i got a new one for ya, what if i told you that one of the most popular and historic presidents in the history didnt have a college degree, Harry S. Truman never got his college degree, so tell me ELA does this make you more educated than him? does this mean that you have more integrity that he or for that matter even a average joe that cleans floors for a living? the answer is no, all a man can ask for in life is that he does what he wants to do and does it 110%. i end this post with a quote that i think is an awesome one and everybody needs to hear, "A great deal of talent is lost to the world for want of a little courage. Every day sends to their graves obscure men whose timidity prevented them from making a first effort." whether that first effort be enrolling yourself into a university, or ending ur amateur status to become a professinoal basketball player. Thanks for the response LordInFamous and Stokomo.
  9. by the way, stokomo i agree with everything that you have said and you have made some awesome points.
  10. okay i have one thing to say, COLLEGE IF NOT FOR EVERYBODY. to all of you people who talk about there college degrees and there doctorates, then congratulations im sure you all worked hard and now its paying off for you. But, to me i think a man that mops floors that got his GED in high school can have more pride and integrity than a rich educated one. basically what im getting to is that everybody has a decision after high school to either go to college, or start working. some people that go to college and get a degree end up working at a restaurant as a waiter/waitresses with people that dont have a college degree, does this make the person with a college degree a better person than someone without the degree? NO, it just make them different, because they wanted to extend their education after high school. And here is something else i dont understand, this week two UT football players left early, Jason Witten and Kelly Washington. Not to mention tons of other college players in all sports that leave early to go pro. what is the difference between them and lebron james? they are closer to getting their degree than he is? well thats BS, chances are the majority of the people on here dont know half of what its like to have a childhood like lebron james has had, and the fact that ur going to criticize him for making his own decision to go and make a career for himself? then you all need to jus quit posting threads on here, cause even those that say he needs to go to college, do you really think he is going to stay for 4 years and get his education? u really think he is going to wait 4 years when he has the chance to get his mom into a safe neighborhood as well as know that him and his mom and (future) family will be well provided for? so to whoever gave out all those stats about how 97% of the children of the people who have college educations also get college educations, well all of that is pointless cause pretty sure less than 1% of these people are the #1 pick in the NBA. so to those who think education is better than money, or vice versa need to realize that none of us have been in his shoes and been through what hes been through and once again, COLLEGE Is NOT FOR EVERYONE and im not even talkin about that from an athletic point of view.
  11. this is all information that i really cant back up, just from what ive heard. of course humphrey is D1, and i hear houser is going to Northern Arizona (another D1 school), i know that Appalachian State was looking at Tipton at the Arby's classic and true that doesnt really say much that he was being "looked at" but the fact that they are both juniors and are 6'6 and 6'5 and both can shoot it from outside and dribble it the length of the court, i wouldnt be surprised to see them go to an appalachian state or some smaller D1 school. but again, they are just juniors and as we already know by looking at andy tipton, a player can get a lot better in a year.
  12. hey guys, well the season starts in a lil over a month, which TEAMS do you think have a chance of winning it this year? im not talkin about singles or doubles but as a team, im just curious on what schools have a strong full roster. thanks
  13. ok now before we start bashing UT recruiting in general we have to know that there is a big difference between UT basketball and UT football. As for UT basketball picking dane bradshaw over lee, the only thing i can see of this is that dane bradshaw is in memphis ( basketball breeding ground) and has played on a state championship team so he must be better than a 6'2 kid from maryville,TN that has never even made it to the state championship. Surely this isnt the reason, but as far as im concerned its probably better than any reason Buzz Peterson has. I mean seriously, the only shooter UT has this year is Jon Higgins ( by the way he has no class for doggin lee at the bearden game, thats just immature and embarrassing) and he is graduating after this year, so why in the world wouldnt you give lee the full ride to be the next shooter? instead of to a PG that averages like 12 PPG. UT on the other hand i will let slide for not recruiting carl, just because year in and year out UT has the top 5 recruiting classes in the nation, Auburn does not. I'm not doggin carl at all and i wish he was goin to UT cause i think he would help them out, but UT not lookin at lee is a lot bigger than UT not lookin at carl. Although im glad peterson has disciplined his playes more than jerry green, he is not the same recruiter that greene or even O'neil were.
  14. the stupidest thing cruze could've done was to say " we will not lose to maryville this year" all that does it fire up maryville even more. My prediction on this game is maryville by double digits, yes i go to maryville and people will say im biased, but with gaskin now startin our smallest player is lee who is 6'2, and then gaskin who is 6'4. so i guess we will see on tuesday night but i say maryville wins in double digits
