  1. In case anyone was interested Team USA beat France 78-0 this last weekend at the World Junior Football championships. They play Mexico on Wednesday(I think). Mexico beat Sweden 41-0. Also, Canada beat New Zealand 55-0 and Japan beat Germany 10-7. P.S. Believe or not, but Canada is actually the #1 seed in this tournament!
  2. Well, normal for OR is making a deep run in the playoffs every year. By deep run, I mean past the second round on a consistant basis. Didn't Alcoa wax Hopkinsville when they played? What was the score?
  3. Like I said...when OR gets back to normal, and they will, OR/Maryville is going to be the best rivalry. You're absolutely right, Alcoa does give Maryville all they can handle, but they never win. On another subject, how is Alcoa going to fare against Bell Co,KY?
  4. When Oak Ridge gets back to normal OR/Maryville will be a heck of a rivalry. Currently, and based on past history, OR/DB is the best rivalry. They have continually beat up on eachother over the years. If Alcoa would beat Maryville from time to time that one would be up there as well. I also think MBA/BA has to be along side the OR/DB rivalry also.
  5. They play South Panola on Oct 2 in Batesville.
  6. In addition to that they have their annual clash with South Panola and they play Starkville later in the year. That's a tough schedule!!
  7. Is Millington playing Olive Branch this year, as well? That should be a good barometer for Millington.
  8. Prepfan, the facts speak for themselves. White football players are predominately linemen, LBs, and QBs. Black football players have predominately faster 40 times and are, therefore, WRs, RBs, and corners. It's simple math. The key word is predominately, not completely. So, let's try and not make this a racial issue........ (if you will)
  9. I'm not sure, but I think Mississippi still has its' 4 state champions play eachother for a true state champion.
  10. I agree about Oak Ridge. I still can't believe they squandered their opportunity to play Central. I still think that would've been the best match-up. Oh well, OR did it last year, too. After beating a good Shelbyville team they blew it against Wilson Central. I will say this, though.....AAA is so tough. I think it's one of the best classes in the entire nation.
  11. Morristown West definitely has a good chance, especially since Oak Ridge gave up at season's end(I'm still shell-shocked by that). South Greene can definitely get by Upperman. As far as A is concerned, nobody will beat Clarkrange.
  12. I think Maryville will slaughter OR next year. After what Stevens did to the program it might be 2-3 years before OR is back to what it should be. Then Maryville/OR will be a great game. Maryville will be a strong contender as usual.
  13. AAA is filled with a bunch of landmines, as usual. It looks like a gauntlet!
  14. Okay, tough guy. You've scared me out of my wits! I know you quoted "wide open race", but you also quoted "little Oak Ridge." The latter quote was the focus of my attention. I figured someone with the obvious intellectual level that you're at would've realized that. Apparently, I was wrong. So, comprehension, as you so eloquently stated, is not a problem of mine. I happen to agree that the AAA race is wide open. If you did a little research on some of my previous posts in other departments you might've known that. I guess you were a little to 'fast-paced' for your own good. So, please, tough guy, don't jump the gun next time. Only time will tell whether 'little ole' Oak Ridge will succeed at state or not.
  15. Not at all. Central is #1 or #2 in my book. They will play OR for the title. Millington will be in the equation at the state level, as well. I wouldn't count out Mt. Juliet just yet.
  16. So, OR has one off game without their star player(K. Johnson) and you think they don't have a chance at state? OR has already played four of the best teams in the nation and went 2-2 against them. They have blown everyone else out(with the exception of Webb, Hoover, and SW Dekalb.) Those are three very good teams, mind you. I think you slipped up with that last comment. Maybe you need to step up your pace, 'fastpace.'
  17. I agree. Glenville should've been ranked in the top 10 nationally, right behind St. Iggy's. For that matter, last year's 4-6 St. X team should actually be in the top 20 or 30 nationally because of their brutal schedule. They did beat Don Bosco, Indy Cathedral, and Prattville(three strong state champs.) The polls are getting better every year. More and more games are being played nationally every year(ie. Herbstreit Challenge in Ohio and Texas.) This is making it a lot easier to gauge these teams and compare. Also the power rankings aren't as accurate as you think. They have a strong pull towards all the Cali teams, which makes it less accurate. The Dynasty rankings are just that...dynasty rankings, not how good a particular team is that particular year. You have to go with the compilation poll to get the best average.
  18. Wasn't Shelbyville big and strong, too? OR beat them last year at state. OR is more mature this year and better. I think this year's tournament will be great, but the only team I see challenging OR is Central. Plus, OR handled some strong teams in Christ the King and Woodson before falling to Regis Jesuit and Bolingbrook(two very strong teams.)
  19. That's just it....they did play some tough games. At the NIKE TOC they played in the toughest bracket(Joe Smith) and played four teams that are currently nationally ranked. They went 2-2. I think that schedule is tough enough. Granted AAA in Tennessee is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, classes in the nation. OR is the real deal and they will play Central for the title. I think OR will beat Central. Central should've beaten Whitney Young earlier. I thought they got robbed. So, if OR is not #1, they should, at least, be ranked #2 behind Central.
  20. A: Clarkrange will probably have to play Jackson County 4 times, but they will beat them in the end. AA: Upperman is the best team right now, but I wouldn't count out South Greene. AAA: I can't believe that so few of you have mentioned Oak Ridge. They are nationally ranked in two polls that I know of and have played a tougher national schedule then any other team(with exception to Memphis Central.) OR will play Memphis Central for the state title and it will be the best game of the last decade. OR will capture the title in a barnburner.
  21. OR and Memphis Central will be a showdown. I think Central should be undefeated. They had Whitney Young on the ropes and should've beaten that team. I think they are the top two in Tennessee this year, but the state tournament should be fantastic. Anyone of the teams will be a challenge.
  22. Only Oak Ridge!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. I wish Tennessee would have a big tournament with some of the top ranked teams from across the country. They would have a tough time against the girls from Tennessee. The Greene Bank Classic usually invites a team or two from out-of-state, but not top-notch ones. The only one I remember recently was Lexington Catholic a few years back. I believe Webb beat them in the final, or the semi-finals, if I'm not mistaken. Back in the late 80s and early 90s Shelbyville would have routed a lot of those teams.
  24. Easy, sport. I wasn't THAT touchy. If you recall I also said that Webb would be one of the teams as well. Putting Briarcrest in that category was just , as you say, an opinion. It very well could be St. Benedict's. I also like Ensworth. Also, telling you to 'hold your horses' was a figure of speech. I assumed you would have been cognizant of that.
