I knew at 8:42 p.m. it was still half time and 20 minutes later and a final was listed as 28-21 final. There was not enough time for the game to be over.

Maryville's WR Maples has committed to UT and so has the Junior TE Douglas (as mentioned above). Remind the Chattanooga people to observe one of the two ways to spell our fair city.. Maryville, or Murvul.

How good is Powell this year. In years past they and Central have been our biggest competition in the region. No matter .. I will be there Friday with a member of the 98 Championship team.

tucker will be the hardest to replace. He is a very good OT and DT . When he was in against Morristown they could not handle him. He also played a good game against Melrose.

do they have tickets for the game at MHS. That stadium at Morristown is small and MHS fans would fill it up without the hometown fans.

Hammondtree was just lucky to be at MHS when the 98 seniors group showed up. He had all the talent he needed from the Middle school up. Those boys were just good. They would have won more under Quarles. Taki McCray would have great numbers under MHS's current offense.

Played for Loretto HS 1961-1964. Nose Guard and right guard on offense..played any where from 200 to 220 pounds (big boy in those days). 10-1 my freshemen year and 7-4 senior year. The other were bad 4 or 5 wins a year. Worst thing is we never could be Lawrence County HS. Big Maryville HS fan now...my kids went to school there with the last graduating in 1999.

I would not have feared a move to 5-A. But it would have put "us" up against 2 of the best programs in East Tn. This way East Tn. has a better shot to bring home more championships. Go Maryville, Alcoa and Oak Ridge.

I was surprised in the article linked on the home page that Maryville was going to remain in 4-A. I had thought that they would be moved to 5-A.. It is good for Maryville not having to face Oak Ridge and Dobyns-Bennett to get to Murfreesboro.

Hope he wants to become a TE at UT. He has a great pair of hands. He needs to learn to hustle on every play....he did not work the pattern hard when he was not the primary target. I guess he could have been one of the reasons Coach Dan Brooks was at the game Friday night. Thanks very much to all for the information.

Someone would have to be really good to beat Alcoa. Scarey thing is the key players at Alcoa are juniors.

What number is Huber. The player committed to Alabama. I was told her was number 3 while watching the game. The other player I was interest in was #6: his name and the year he is in school. #6 caught everything thrown his way.

UT recruits the players they feel as seniors can play at SEC level. Pennington was not recruited by any of the top schools. He was a scrawny kid out of Webb that do not do well at any of the college camps he attended. UT shoots for RBs that they hope can be the next great TB not just TBs. Those that don't go to linebacker or safety. You don't win like UT does picking on the maybe player....because even if you recruit the top guys at any position a percentage are never going to play as starters. With the 85 scholarship limit you cannot afford to have many misses. There are also many kids that do not see the opportunity to play fast enough at UT or they prefer another school due to family or getting away from the family. I hope Carl Stewart does great at Auburn.

From a 1965 graduate and a former noseguard for the mustangs.... beat those ______ kitty cats. That is something we were never able to do in the sixties.

Saw the Maryville-Alcoa game and was impressed with Alcoa. Not only were the skill players very good, the entire team was not warn out late in the second and fourth quarters. Alcoa looked better than some of their championship teams. Big question is if the big running back can stay healthy.
