  1. The addition of a fourth class benefitted West TN in my opinion. The below list is 3A. To me the schools that used to be 3A in the 3 class system are gonna be much more competative in 3A in the 4 class system. Then Region 8 in Memphis should look better for some of those schools too. District 11 Chester Co. High School (Henderson, TN) Hardin Co. High School (Savannah, TN) Lexington High School (Lexington, TN) McNairy Central High School (Selmer, TN) District 12 Jackson North Side High School (Jackson, TN) Jackson South Side High School (Jackson, TN) Liberty Technology Magnet High School (Jackson, TN) South Gibson Co. High School (Medina, TN) Region 7 District 13 Crockett Co. High School (Alamo, TN) Dyer Co. High School (Newbern, TN) Dyersburg High School (Dyersburg, TN) Obion Co. Central High School (Troy, TN) District 14 Brighton High School (Brighton, TN) Covington High School (Covington, TN) Haywood High School (Brownsville, TN) Munford High School (Munford, TN) Ripley High School (Ripley, TN) Region 8 District 15 Bolton High School (Arlington, TN) Craigmont High School (Memphis, TN) Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School (Somerville, TN) Millington Central High School (Millington, TN) Raleigh Egypt High School (Memphis, TN) District 16 Hamilton High School (Memphis, TN) Kirby High School (Memphis, TN) Melrose High School (Memphis, TN) Ridgeway High School (Memphis, TN) Wooddale High School (Memphis, TN)
  2. District 15 Arlington High School (Arlington, TN) Bartlett High School (Bartlett, TN) Collierville High School (Collierville, TN) Cordova High School (Cordova, TN) Germantown High School (Germantown, TN) Houston High School (Germantown, TN) Southwind High School (Memphis, TN) District 16 Kingsbury High School (Memphis, TN) Memphis Central High School (Memphis, TN) Memphis East High School (Memphis, TN) Overton High School (Memphis, TN) White Station High School (Memphis, TN) Whitehaven High School (Memphis, TN) I wouldn't say any of these schools are considered West TN. So I would say there is no impact on 4A in West TN.
  3. Where are the players, in any sport, going to come from if these investments are made? I work at Collierville. This summer when the girl's basketball job was open there weren't many applicants. The boy's basketball program has had 3 coaches in 1 season and they have alot of applicants but 90% aren't qualified for the job but none of the big names are beating down the door to get in. Our school is nice and the facilites are nice but I've seen Union City dominate in basketball with the same gym I played in the mid-late 90's. Facilites might bring people but in JMCSS to get players you've got to take from other schools. Collierville built a school because they couldn't handle the enrollment numbers in the old school. There's alot more money in Collierville than years ago too. JMCSS is mini version of Memphis Shelby County Schools. Gotta have the schools to serv the population but don't have enough funds to build/manage modern facilites.
  4. I'm an educator and former coach (not with JMCSS) so I know all about contracts. Those coaches had been in education long enough and they knew that too. Liberty was a really good team when Dexter Williams was the coach. They also had some good players. I coached against them and saw if first hand. I know they guys that coach there now. Why does this continue to happen in such a large system? There have been a few superintendants in the past decade. I know they one was real bad. Why can't they keep up the facilites? Why can't they coaches get support?
  5. So new facilites will improve sports and new schools will improve school performance? People won't move to an area because of new schools or new facilites. People will move to an area when the schools and sports programs are performing well.
  6. That just doesn't line up. Both coaches got lied to but left and got jobs but let the wrong doing go? If they aren't willing to let it go that easy then what is JMCSS gonna be held accountable for? Northside, SouthSide, Liberty, JCM and Madison. 5 high schools is adequate for that population.
  7. Do you know all of this for a fact or just hearsay? Why wouldn't the coaches in question sue for breach of contract? Worst case they would settle? I'm gonna ask this question again. Why doesn't JMCSS dominate West TN outside of Memphis? Why aren't coaches flocking to get jobs?
  8. Sounds like the natural consequences of studidity have played out here. The fact is that good coaches aren't beating down the doors to get into JMCSS and work. They might have gotten some outside interest with these positions and compensation but you don't really want coaches that are looking for that. You want coaches that are hungry and know how to build programs not just coach year to year. Jackson schools should dominate sports in West TN outside of Memphis/Shelby County year in and year out. Why don't they?
  9. What is there to hold accountable? The jobs are no longer being given what was promised. It's over. The experiment didn't work and back to square one. Jackson has 65,000+ people and should dominate basketball outside of Memphis.
  10. Do any Memphis/Shelby County schools have a many if any fans on CoachT? The schools that were once prominent have fallen by the wayside for various reasons. The municipal schools are kinda new and so are their fan bases.
  11. Their district is one of the weakest in the state and AA has been the worst class in the state for years. Just because you win games doesn't mean you're good. The schedule is weak and the film says it all. The SS vs NS film is nothing but a bunch of eurostep layups with no help defense by either team. They pressure bad teams into turnovers and get easy baskets because they're more athletic and usually bigger. That's 6th grade rec league ball at its best. That's not basketball.
  12. District titles are nothing to hang your hat on when the district is weak. South Side does well until they run into teams that don't turn the ball over.
  13. https://cms-files.tssaa.org/documents/tssaa/2020-21/baseball/Baseball-Pitch-Count-Policy.pdf 6. The pitch count will apply to any player who pitches and is cumulative each day. JV pitch count and high school varsity pitch count are linked together. Example: a pitcher who pitches 45 Varsity pitches on Monday is not permitted to pitch JV on Tuesday.

  15. Each school in Shelby County has a zone. The issue is Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis are urban areas have a ton of schools. Small rural or suburban areas don't have many if any choices beyond 1-3 schools. The municipal schools in Shelby County, Bartlett, Germantown, Arlington, and Collierville allow transfers from outside their districts. People in more populated areas are at the mercy of their zoned school as far as CTE class offerings and alternative programs. Not all schools can offer all things so kids transfer where those things are offered. No one says anything about a student that wants to study automotive repair, welding, computer programing, etc... that transfers. It's only athletes. Same with college. Computer whiz gets hired by Apple at 16 and never goes to college no one bats an eye. If he's 17 and can go pro and skip college to play baseball then everyone has an opinion.
  16. When have I ever said I was a victim? I have no responsibility for his reply. It's not objective. I don't care about his answer. Did I say anything about it at all? No, another poster did. This in no way is a "poking the bear situation". Again, again, and again...I have ZERO responsibility for his politically charged reply. It's also ironic how you say I was "butt hurt" when I never replied to him but you then make the statement, "I just don't like when people don't take responsible for the part they played." Let me ask you...are you responsible for my reply(s) to you regarding this topic? Are you responsible for anything I'm typing? By your logic and words you're responsible for everything I'm replying with. Please start quoting direct statements that can be proven or cite me directly instead of making assumptions or interjecting things that you have going on in your head. Subjectivity will prove nothing. Be objective.
  17. You already know the TSSAA has no credibility. You know that is not going to happen. When, if ever, have they made a team vacate a championship? What good would it do? It only shows their incompetence, weakness, and inability to handle the issue when it is happening.
  18. What did I say that made you make a comment about the current president of hte United States? Again, and this is not the first time, you've not taken responsibility for something you said. "when in fact all I was doing was responding to his original comment." It's good to know that another man has so much power over you that a comment that is made on a message board prompts you to make a comment that you can't control.
  19. My comment has nothing to do with him replying. My comment, which I've made before, was a statement telling him if he wanted to make a change then he should run for office. Yes, running for a local government office is political. His reply about the current political climate has nothing to do with the ongoing theme that he and I have had for years now. His comments have ZERO to do with me. There are a bunch of different ways that he could have replied. He has a history of making comments that lean and are very right in political standing and then he takes no responsibilty for what he types. Again, saying that I'm responsible for his comments is like blaming a person that gets robbed on the street for getting robbed just because they were there. It is amazingly ironic to think that you're educating me on "what is political" when you're playing the exact pointing the finger game that politicians play. I have no responsibilty for his keyboard strokes after I hit enter. Just like I you have no responsibility to educate me on this topic nor do you have any moral justification for this conversation. But here we are with your ego pushing into a situation that has been ongoing for a longtime. Please take the self importance somewhere else and stop making excuses for this guys reply. Penny did what he did. The TSSAA knew all about it. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE in Memphis knew what was happening. My school knew about it and we beat them and they beat us. It was so bad that everytime a team played against East it was like an audition. Kids thought if they played well Penny was gonna come calling. However, Penny did not bring James Wiseman to Memphis to "win" at East. It was a long play for the U of M job.
  20. You're saying it's my fault that he made a comment on the current political climate? You literally stated that it is my fault that he replied the way he did because I opened the door for him to make the comment. Do you understand what you're saying?
  21. Telling someone to run for office isn't bringing up politics. That's telling someone to run for office. Blaming me for him stepping through "the door" is like blaming the victim for the crime. Get out of here with that stuff.
  22. I've said this to him before. He is really concerned about high school students and sports in Shelby County. What I didn't do was mention anything about the current political climate or make a judgment on anything political. What I mentioned was a local government thing.
  23. Don't try to get out of it. Mine was a tounge in cheek jab that I've made at you before. You're the one that brought current politics into the conversation.
  24. You think he brough Wiseman to Memphis to win high school games? They had won previous years without him. They didn't need James Wiseman to win a state championship in Tennessee. Penny needed James Wiseman to bring in other recurits to U of Memphis. Get the #1 recruit in the country you'll get other good prospects. Penny could provide Wiseman with a high school schedule with that would give him huge exposure. I don't agree with any of it. I think NCAA and NBA basketball is a money machine and we as a society have let high school sports, especially basketball, get pulled into that same thing. I hate it and I think it is destroying the game. The thing is the TSSAA knew what Penny was doing. Everyone did. They chose not to do anything about it until it made them look bad and then they had no strength to prevent it from happening.
