  1. My mistake. I assumed that they had to rely on him like they did against the Vikings. The 2007 team was notorious for falling behind like that. The 2006 team fell behind Dobyns Bennett 44-0 st Hey Compusatman You always bring up what Fletcher did in his career and like to compare him to CS. But let me ask you this, what did Mr. Fletcher do his Freshman and Sophomore season? Was he even on varsity? Or did he play Freshman and JV Ball The reason why CS and other runningbacks around the Tri-Cities have such hype around them is because they started their Freshman year on Varsity and produced good numbers for the season. Now days most running backs that go D-1 come in and start on Varsity as a freshman. As recruiting starts earlier then ever, when a back starts as a junior they only have two season to showcase their skills. On top of playing they have to go to as many camps and combines as they can afford to attend. It's all about self promoting in 2009.
  2. I am surprised nobody is picking Morristown East to be right behind Jeff Co. They have some top athletes on offense, they will do alot of scoring.
  3. Waco Jaco always has the best poll out there, don't trust the others!
  4. How come the starters didn't play much when the 7 on 7 games counted today for the Falcons? Kinda dissappointing for them to start out so well and end with 2 losses in a row. The QB Cradic looks really good he is very precise and makes excellent decisions, I think the WR #25 looks solid for the Falcons. The RB Rogers looks to have put on some good size and even more speed if that was possible. Should have a great sophomore season. Does anyone know if Volunteer's line has been to any camps or had an instructional work since last season. If the line has improved for the Falcons then they should be a good team. How is the seating situation going to be when some of the bigger schools visit Volunteer, with Volunteer only have bleachers on one side? Good Luck to the Falcons this season!
  5. From everything I have heard about the Volunteer program this year it seems like they will not win another game. I have heard the O-line can't hold a block(thus why they have had two games in negative yards rushing) and when not on the field the O-line just sits on the bench not even paying attention to the game. If the defense is bringing the blitz so much, why not try a short dump to the Tight end, or screens to the running back, or wide receiver? A screen would work well, especially if the O-line is letting everyone through anyways. They have talented offensive players but don't use them for their best advantage, you have to put the best talent on the field to win the game. I hope that Volunteer can come out on top in this one, but if not the season is going to be even longer and harder then expected.
  6. What part of the state is the Hunter's Lane located? I live in the East of Tn and have never heard of Hunter's Lane. I agree that some teams get alot more attention then others, one factor maybe be is players on the team coming on and hyping their school up. Where there are some coaches that forbid players from coming onto this site.
  7. Those are some pretty strong numbers there. Any personal stats on the his size? What style of back is he speed, or power? Or maybe a combo of both.
  8. I agree with this statement 150% Speed can not be taught! Sure someone can become leaner and gain speed, as well as they can gain strength in their legs and get quicker. But anyone that is purely fast is born with that speed.
  9. Who can give me some insight on the Tennessee High running back that I saw mentioned on tricititessports.com? What kind of stats did he put up last season, how is he looking so far this summer?
  10. Just thought I would visit the Falcons thread and after seeing this talk on here, I thought I would chime in. I read the article on the Rogers kid and I must say it sounds like he had a great season last year. In all my years I have never seen an article on a football player going into their freshman season before they have even taken a snap in a live game. Which means one thing, word is out on the Rogers kid, sure anyone that faced him last year knows about him, because in the game I saw him play it was hard to catch him, and if you did catch him he was hard to take down. I am sure any high school in the region would love to have a player like him coming into their school. My question to people of volunteer(former players it looks like) Why are you hating on Rogers? I know if he was coming to the school I graduated from I would be praising him, and just be happy that he didn't transfer to another program. Does it make you feel like a man to get on here and talk down about him? How would you feel if someone was talking about you badly on a public forum for everyone to read when you were 13 or 14? Have you ever said anything to him personally, if not why wouldn't you just go and tell him what you think about his playing ability. The program that I support would love to have him come on, and give us four years of hard work.
  11. I have to give him all the credit in the world for being a great player, but isn't he about to be turning 17 going into is sophomore year?
  12. Congrats on both wins Falcons. Just finished reading about the Triple Play in the Timesnews. Go Falcons take it to the county rivals today.
  13. So how did the Falcons fare this weekend in the Washington County Tourny? Haven't heard any updates on the team in the past few days. While I am at it major congrats go out to the 12 and under East Tennessee Diamond Dawgs a great weekend of baseball played by these young men, another 1st place finish. So far two first place finishes out of 4 tournaments, not bad if I say so myself. These young men battled hard to win the championship 9-8 with the game winning run coming in the bottom of the 6th against a very strong team from Wise. Keep up the great work guys. Peace Randy Holtzclaw
  14. Well I have not seen or heard about any of the above. As I stated I just recently moved back here after a few years away. Yes, I have had the chance to watch the team he is coaching this season in first three tournaments of the season. I would have given my left arm to play for a coach like D.G. when I was 12 years old. From what I have seen he teaches the boys discipline on the field, which hopefully will help them off the field as well. He might be hard on them when they make a bad play, but as soon as they do something good he is the first to praise them. When I was 12 I can certainly say there was nobody showing us dedication like he has for these young men, all we had was the Mount Carmel/Church Hill city league, then all-star games. Good luck to the Falcons against whoever you opponent is this evening, push the streak to 3. Hopefully Falconbaseballbacker will have some good updates this evening.
  15. Congrats on another great win Falcons, good to hear you are on a roll. Keep it up. Good luck in the Washington County Tournament And I definitely agree that D.G. will have the boys ready. I have alot of respect for the man that is for sure, heckuva coach. I just recently moved back from Myrtle Beach, and my buddies lil bro plays for the team. I have heard about the dedication that D.G. has put in the program, I know he is there for the practices 3-4 nights a week and the games on the weekend. I have been there to support them through their first 3 tournaments of the season and will be there to support them the rest of the year. They play this weekend in Bristol, first game Friday night 9pm from what I was told this evening. Peace Randy Holtzclaw
  16. Congrats to the Falcons on the win over East, good luck against Central tonight. Go Falcons
  17. Just wondering what the Falcons baseball record is up to this point in the season, and I would like to wish the Falcons good luck with the rest of the season. What have been some highlights for the team thus far? Go Falcons! Randy H.
  18. Good luck this week Falcons, hope you can reverse the tables this year on East and run up the score on them.
  19. I live outside of North Myrtle beach now since we just bought a brand new house, about 8 mins from the beach in Longs where we live it is $2.65. But over at the beach prices are ranging anywhere from $2.99 up to $3.29 for the regular.
  20. Thanks for the update, Hopefully the owner of the radio station and Coach Whalen can get something going on the Falcons broadcast. Really would enjoy hearing how the new coaching staff is doing and how the young Falcons are playing. By the way thanks for the game coverage you posted for us DandDD.
  21. Thanks for the information, I am definitely hoping they will be able to get an internet broadcast up and running so I can here in the games here in Myrtle Beach. If you hear anything new please do let me know. Thanks, Randy
  22. Good Luck to the Falcons this week against Morristown West. Hopefully the team can play them close and pull out the win, as that would be a big first win for Coach Rider. So with WEYE going rap, has any other radio stations pickuped up the boadcast? Also does anyone know if there is an internet broadcast available?
